In 1967, in the midst of Franco's dictatorship, a group of seminarians created a rock band: Enarak ("The Swallows"). They played pop, rock and psychedelia, styles that were strange in the society of the time and, only in Basque. In 1969 they recorded an EP consisting of three songs: a version of the popular song "Solferinoko istua," "Ama," and "Bañan ez," all the band´s own compositions. Over the next four years, they gave hundreds of concerts all over the Basque Country, the last one in Larraitz, in the shadow of Mount Txindoki, on 31 October 1971. On a cold, misty night lit by a full moon, they brought together some 5,000 young people with the intention of enjoying modern music. After that night, they disappeared forever. Their only traces are the three songs you will find on this album. The B-side songs are performed live in 2023 by Amorante, Rüdiger, and Liher. With the aim of recovering and making the history of the group known, the Bira Produkzioak cooperative has produced a documentary entitled Enarak. This is not just an album or a concert in the usual way. It is an exorcism, a ritual for the resurrection of Enarak, a historical piece and, at the same time, an object of memory that encapsulates the soul of the group.
