Oscar Peterson Quartet
, live from the Glenn Gould Studios in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on May 10th, 1993. Although this legendary Canadian jazz pianist won many awards (including eight Grammys) during his long career, the announcement that he was to become the third recipient of the Glenn Gould Prize had a special resonance, as it indicated that jazz was beginning to be seen as comparable in stature to classical music. Originally broadcast on CBC, the superb set he played on the night of the ceremony (with support from his longstanding band) is presented in full here, together with background notes and images. Digitally remastered for greatly enhanced sound quality.
