180 gram vinyl presented in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with a full-color poster and bonus 7" featuring two live tracks from Roadburn 2011. 2010's Take the Curse is a shattering expression of cruelty where Ramesses' bleak sound finds an accurate counterpart in the Chapman's grand vision of suffering (the cover image is from Jake and Dinos Chapman's controversial artwork "Fucking Hell"). In nauseating detail, the music and the artwork dredge the turpitude of humanity and explore the utter horror of possibility. On Take the Curse, mournful harmonies are the backdrop to the ever-increasing influence of the occult on the band. Although a riff tsunami remains the centerpiece, the Ramesses sound is refracted through even more circles of hell -- of dirge-sludge, of rhythm, of Lucifer himself. Grim melodies, blistering, spaced-out guitar solos and atmospheric samples add depth to the tracks and display the band's eclectic traits and '70s influences. In visiting new progressive and experimental territory, Take the Curse will enthrall newcomers. At the same time, dedicated fans will be reminded of the drubbings that Ramesses visited upon them before, and revel in the new album. Ramesses were spawned in the woodland of Dorset, England. They have been disfiguring the innards of their army of devoted listeners since 2003 when drummer Mark Greening and guitarist Tim Bagshaw hooked up with Adam Richardson (bass, vox). In the intervening years, Ramesses have ripped an incurable wound in the metal scene with killer live shows around the UK and Europe. Bristling with malevolence, Ramesses' crushing grooves induce a hypnotic lethargy: weighed down, beleaguered and enveloped by doom. While the percussion/guitar/bass/vocals set to work on your viscera, your head is forcibly plunged down the rabbit hole and drenched in heavy psychedelia.
