"It's safe to say that the debut release from Berlin based DJ Eddie Zarook and Heidelberg's Casio Casino (aka Steffen Neuert of Bergheim 34 fame) is an absolute stomper. What we have here are two finely crafted tunes that seduce the dance floor in totally different ways. Both contain perfectly structured arrangements that creep up on you with the stealth of a ninja, making them a real pleasure to mix with. However what's actually occurring between the minimal beats is deceptively complex -- the lavish sounds and perfectly separated frequencies let you know you're in the presence of someone who 'knows their stuff'. In the case of hallucinogenic, long, patient grooves followed by some fantastically understated 'sonic tweaking' give the track a real kick without ever losing that empty, laid back vibe. The cut up vocal loops also create a lush subliminal backdrop to the proceedings, while the 909 hats ride some downright funky sub bass patterns out into the void. On the flip side (or should that read the flipped-out side) you'll find the gap. Warning! Do not play this record to children under 16 as it may cause irreparable damage to their synapses. It's a monster -- pure and simple. Once again there's an amazing amount of space to be found between the beats but this time it's repeatedly violated by a full dosage of electro-shock therapy. It's the sound of technology eating itself -- but quite good fun all the same! Every so often a project comes along that inadvertently redefines a genre, that subtly moves the goalposts, that stamps it's personality on a tried and tested formula creating a new sound in the process. This may well be one of them."
