"The Emmy-winning 'Comeback Kid' himself comes back yet again with a blunt, brilliantly quotable stand-up special. Baby J takes the form of a wide-ranging conversation between John Mulaney, a kid in the balcony named Henry, and the rest of the sold-out crowd at Boston's Symphony Hall. And now, you! John dominates the chat, of course -- and while his cautionary tales are a bit too convulsive to be functionally preventative, you probably aren't here to be cautioned. So have at it!"

"Drag City presents its first-ever Christmas/Holiday album -- Neil Hamburger Presents Seasonal Depression Suite. This song-cycle is filtered through the lens of various guests stuck in a perfectly average chain-hotel during the holiday season, wallowing in self-pity and paranoia, re-living personal catastrophes both real and imagined, or simply trying to use the hotel vending machine. Influenced by everything from Thom Bell to Tommy to the troll-ish misery of Trip Advisor reviews, Seasonal Depression Suite provides another entry in the sprawling satirical critique of America that Greg Turkington has been engaged in with his multifarious enterprises and collaborations since the early '90s. The musical tapestry woven by Turkington and Erik Paparozzi draws from the stage musicals, pop vocal albums, film scores, rock concept albums, new wave mini-masterpieces, and singer-songwriter epics that have captured their imaginations since childhood, in pitch-perfect support of their fictitious hotel guests and their tormented concerns. To sing these parts, a once-in-a-lifetime all-star cast was assembled -- including Neil Finn (Split Enz, Crowded House, Fleetwood Mac), Annabella Lwin (Bow Wow Wow), Alan Bishop (Sun City Girls), Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, acclaimed singer/performance artist Puddles Pity Party, voice actress Natalie Peyser, J.P. Hasson (Pleaseeasaur), enigmatic vocalist (and Frank Sinatra's granddaughter) A.J. Lambert, Paparozzi himself and, of course, Neil Hamburger. Among the many musicians accompanying the cast were Scarlet Rivera, Danny Heifetz (Mr. Bungle), Bär McKinnon (Mr. Bungle), Prairie Prince (The Tubes), Atom Ellis (Dieselhed), Jason Schimmel (Secret Chiefs 3), and Alex Jules (The Monkees band) -- an international assemblage whose talents give Seasonal Depression Suite its epic sweep. With all hands-on board, Turkington and Paparozzi created their own kind of masterpiece, like Sinatra's late-period concept album Watertown fused with the misfit comedy of Neil Hamburger -- a work that looks at a cast of characters both ordinary and bizarre, as they make their way from one grievance to another, traveling from place to place, hoping to live, while waiting to die. There won't be another album like Seasonal Depression Suite anytime soon -- if ever."

"Select Records is proud to present the 30th anniversary edition of this 1993 comedy classic by The Jerky Boys, on deluxe colored vinyl with a limited OBI strip. Hailing from Queens, New York, childhood friends Johnny Brennan and Kamal Ahmed collaborated on a series of prank telephone calls that eventually circulated in classic grassroots fashion (before being 'viral' was a thing), travelling from teenager to teenager via cassette dub after cassette dub. The duo's work eventually earned legendary status among those lucky enough to get their hands on it. When the compilation of calls was finally officially released via Select Records, who were mostly known for their hip-hop acts ranging from Kid n Play to AMG, it reached #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers list by amazingly bumping Radiohead's Pablo Honey, which coincidentally took its title from a Jerky Boys sketch, out of the top spot. What followed was a few more platinum albums, a hilarious movie, and a legion of lifetime fans that can repeat these prank calls verbatim, even 30 years later. The Jerky Boys created a true movement, and inspired an entire generation of improvisational prank-style comedians. Re-live the hilarity now with the deluxe vinyl pressing! Pressed on limited white and purple colored vinyl with numbered OBI strip."

Honey Pie Records present a reissue of I Am the Greatest!, a comedy album by boxer Cassius Clay, released in August 1963. Released six months before he won the world heavyweight championship, publicly announced his conversion to Islam, and changed his name to Muhammad Ali. It was released by CBS Columbia. The album helped establish Ali's reputation as an eloquently poetic "trash talker". The album has also been identified as an early example of rap music and a precursor to hip-hop music. The liner notes were written by the American poet Marianne Moore, a longstanding fan of Clay. Clay collaborated on the writing for the album with the comedy writer Gary Belkin, who was listed as producer on the original release. The album idea had been proposed to Clay by the William Morris Agency, and the recording was conducted at Columbia Records' 30th Street New York Studio before an audience of 200 people. Rather than being listed as "tracks", the first 8 entries on the album were listed with "rounds" numbers.

RSD 2019 release, re-released. "As prelude to the upcoming Eddie Murphy-starring Netflix film Dolemite Is My Name, the eponymous Dolemite Records presents this record store day-exclusive vinyl reissue from cult comedian Rudy Ray Moore. Despite never achieving major mainstream success in his career, the scope of influence from cult comedian Rudy Ray Moore is palpable and far-reaching. A consummate performer and raconteur, Moore's comedy emphasized raw and explicit story-telling and wisecracking, often told in rhyme, and featuring a backing band; a style of performance that inadvertently set a blueprint for early hip-hop music. Following in the footsteps of comic legends Redd Foxx and Moms Mabley, his stage presence would inspire the likes of Katt Williams and Snoop Dogg, find widespread underground success among inner cities in the 1970s, and would lead him to collaborate with a wide swath of artists into his later years, from Big Daddy Kane to Insane Clown Posse. His various bits and sketches would even become sampling fodder in tracks by Madlib, A Tribe Called Quest, DJ Shadow, 2 Live Crew, and innumerable others. Above all else, Rudy Ray Moore's best known and most beloved claim to fame is his tales of the legend of Dolemite the pimp. Derived from various obscene stories he overheard while working in a record store, Moore's most famous routine saw him take on the role of Dolemite, and recount humorous stories and anecdotes which framed the hustler as something of a ghetto folk hero. These anecdotes proved to be incredibly popular in urban clubs and parties, and would later be adapted into the hit 1975 blaxploitation film Dolemite, of which Moore would produce and star. In celebration of Rudy Ray Moore's extensive works, as well as the upcoming Eddie Murphy-starring Netflix biopic featuring him, Dolemite Records proudly presents this vinyl reissue of one of his 1975 release, Return Of Dolemite. Coming just on the cusp of the feature film's release, Return sees Moore at the top of his game, spinning anecdotal yarns about sexual conquests, hustling stories, and in his own parlance: 'F*ckin' up motherf*ckas!' Exclusive to Record Store Day 2019, this deluxe reissue comes decades after its initial release, and the first time pressed on vinyl in over 40 years."

The Bookworm presents -- with a wide grin -- the first book by Stefan Fähler. Its title, Zahntasia, inflects the name of Walt Disney's 1940 animated masterpiece with the German word for "tooth" ("Zahn"), and accordingly, it depicts a psychedental journey starring an anthropomorphic molar who suddenly gets popped out of his daily grind. Across 80 black-and-white pages, our toothy protagonist is whisked into a world of sticky indulgence, sweet romance, and confectionary hallucinations. Seeing as there's no text, the plot welcomes the viewer's own interpretation, but it seems that just like Dorothy, this displaced tooth finds the way back to his roots. Stefan Fähler created the images during an artist residency in Brazil, as well as in Belgium and his home base of Berlin. To complement his pencil drawings -- adding some extra texture where necessary -- he also utilized nail polish remover and a rickety, nearly obsolete Xerox machine. Although the story is told purely in pictures, Fähler's dentist has provided a written introduction emphasizing the importance of caring for your chompers. This book makes a charming addition to any waiting room, a trusty companion for your next acid trip, or the perfect gift for that magical wingèd lady who leaves cash under your pillow. Stefan Fähler is a freelance art director and illustrator working primarily in the music and film industries. He has designed gig posters for performers like Ariel Pink, Baths, Death Grips, Lætitia Sadier, Merzbow, Mykki Blanco, Mogwai, Wolf Eyes, and Shonen Knife and album artwork for Leslie Winer, Marina Gasolina, and Damo Suzuki. He painted the graphic titles for Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado's Oscar-nominated documentary about Sebastião Salgado, The Salt of the Earth, which premiered at Cannes Film Festival, 2014. He has directed music videos for the likes of Mediengruppe Telekommander and Heatsick, for whom he won an award for "Best International Music Video" at Leeds International Film Festival, 2014. Fähler's work can be seen in publications, exhibitions, and festivals around the globe including Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Cannes, Milan, Sydney, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago de Chile, and Basel. 80 pages; paperback; 110mm x 171mm. Limited edition of 150 copies hand-numbered and signed by the artist.

"Andy Kaufman changed the worlds of comedy and performance in the 1970s, showing fans and friends alike a determination to follow put-ons into territory no one had ever even considered 'comic' before. His fervor was so intense that when he passed away suddenly in 1984, it seemed as if the ultimate disappearing act had been staged; one that some people believe is still ongoing, with the reveal soon to come. This makes him the quintessential entertainer of our generation, a man ahead of his time and ours, and a force that has yet to be matched -- even in the mega-saturated media world of the 21st century. Among the many things that Andy achieved in his lifetime (and in the years following), a phonograph album release, the staple of standup comedians in his time, never happened -- until now. Andy and His Grandmother is material never heard before, a skimming from 82 hours of micro-cassette tapes that Andy recorded during 1977- 79. Perhaps the best thing about Andy and His Grandmother is that it extends the body of work that Andy Kaufman pursued relentlessly between 1971 and 1984 with 'routines' never before seen or heard in any of his known performances. This is no recap or greatest hits collection derived from material meant to be seen as well as heard. Andy created these tapes to format his incredible approach on a purely sonic level. The funny to be found in the unfunny, the comedy of everyday existence, the comedy of tragedy, these things are the legacy of Andy Kaufman -- and all are vividly on display throughout Andy and His Grandmother."

"Ready for two great tastes that go so-so together? Us neither! But duets are apparently 'in' this year, so get ready for two non-songbirds to stretch their wings for fun and profit (please God). Million Dollar Performances presents Margaret Cho and Neil Hamburger, together at last! You could say that these two are a John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John for the 'foulmouthed generation.'"

2024 repress. "Who says there are no second acts in show biz? The same person who claimed there's no crying in comedy, probably -- and Neil Hamburger has proven him wrong once again. Left for dead more than once in a career that has spanned literally decades, Neil is back on top and waiting for that next wave that will supposedly pull him under again. In 2007, Neil Hamburger experienced what some would call the high point of his career to date, playing Madison Square Garden and other big arenas of performance infamy all around the United States. This was no miracle; after all, people weren't coming to see Neil; he was opening for popular rock act Tenacious D. Once the crowds heard some of his classic routines, however, Neil gained a great deal of exposure -- exposed once again as America's Funnyman in front of roaring crowds of Americans. Naturally, there were a few bad apples in the barrel, and Neil did what any professional would do -- slaying the hecklers with their own sword of crass, unmannered profanity. Fortunately, his drink rider was above average, which helped considerably in getting through the days and nights that make up Hot February Night. Now it's your turn -- fire up the hi-fi and place this special phonograph LP on the platter. Then mix a couple drinks and listen to America's Funnyman, Neil Hamburger, as he lives and dies the comedy life that all the greats have lived too. Hot February Night is truly a brush with greatness. What will Neil do for an encore?"

Perhaps the first question should be why? For what warped reason did some misguided record executive think that any of the music contained within this compilation was worth releasing on a commercial basis? Whose twisted vision saw these tracks racing up the charts? In fact, who thought that anybody, apart from those with an equally cracked view of the world, would rush to their local record shop to snap up even one of these bizarre items? But then again, perhaps it doesn't really matter at all, and we should just be grateful that these skewed slices of strangeness were pressed up and are still to be found lurking in dark corners of dust-shrouded record racks, thrift stores and flea markets. Mick Dillingham has devoted many years of vinyl hunting to unearthing the obscure, the peculiar, and in some cases, the downright disturbing. Here, Psychic Circle is delighted to present a selection of his personal favorites. Thrill to a Yiddish version of "Rock Around The Clock," groove to a song about aliens landing in Northampton, shimmy to a disco-ball version of Pink Floyd's "Arnold Layne," sit open-mouthed at the late Michael Elphick's deeply worrying paean to kidnap and date-rape (it can't be, can it?), weep along with the moving tribute to Sefton, the cavalry horse blown up by the IRA. Emotions you never knew you had will be brought to the surface. Will it change your life? Probably not, but it will bring some unusual and welcome color into it. Please join the Psychic Circle label in thanking Mr. Dillingham for his tireless endeavors in seeking out hidden gems that would otherwise have remained undiscovered. Artists include: Max Bygraves, Bali, Il Pirata, Laura Huxley, Linda Jardim, Balsara & His Singing Sitars, Reginald Bosanquet, Cadbury's Singers, David McCallum, Mickey Katz, Swingin' Thorn, Rusty Goffe, Rosebud, Martin Harvey, Al Hirt, Steve Bowley, Rene & Renata, Jim Bowen, Hylda Baker, Xaviera Hollander, Mavin James, Edd Byrnes, David Carradine, Paul Damian, Paul Frees, John Collier, Peter Anthony, Joe Loss, Michael Elphick, Tina Harvey, Bert Landers, The Barclay Supergroup, and Cathy Berberian.

...And Other Dark Tales! "Radio dramas by Judson Fountain, with Sandor Weisberger. Produced by Irwin Chusid and Barbara Economon. Cover portrait by Drew Friedman. Dark Dark Dark Tales offers a second collection of off-kilter, gothic-tinged audio theater by Judson Fountain, the 'Ed Wood, Jr. of radio drama.' Fashioned in the style of 1940s old-time radio plays, these recordings were produced and written by Judson in New York during the late 1960s and early 1970s and released on vinyl LP in limited editions of unknown quantity. Original copies are extremely rare and highly collectible. They are also divinely entertaining. As on its predecessor, the 2004 Innova release Completely in the Dark, Judson delivers most of the voices, including his trademark old hags, young punks, creepy thugs and hapless thieves. These simple morality tales are highlighted by spooky noises provided by needle drops from the classic Elektra Sound Effects Library. Judson's erstwhile sidekick, the avuncular Sandor Weisberger, serves as announcer and occasional leading man. In addition to seven Judson dramas released on CD for the first time, Dark Dark Dark Tales offers a new radio drama, The Nasty Roomer, written by charter 'Fountainhead' Don Brockway specially for Judson and Sandor's reunion appearance on WFMU radio in 1995. In a one-take, live sight-reading, the old friends acted their parts with élan and recaptured the atmosphere of their vintage recordings. Judson's work embodies all the peculiar qualities (and, some might say, charming flaws) of outsider art. That it has attracted a cult following over the years is not surprising, as there's nothing quite like a Judson Fountain drama. Turn off all your lights, and be completely in the dark dark dark!" Includes 16-page booklet.

"'Tis indeed a great pleasure to welcome back infamous cut-up terrorists Cassetteboy to their original home on Barry's Bootlegs. Cassetteboy 'accidentally' made a classic debut album with The Parker Tapes in 2002 ('Very, very funny. The bastard offspring of Chris Morris, Cartman and Cutmaster Swift' 8/10, NME) then they sold out and went 'pop' with Dead Horse in 2005 as well as the Antidote/Sanctuary album Mick's Tape... and now they are back with the concept album Carry On Breathing. Covering all the big themes: money, love, death and, er, Croydon Council, Carry On Breathing tells the story of life itself, from birth to death, through the medium of bits of Eastenders, nicked northern soul loops and knob gags. Cassetteboy are childhood friends Michael Bollen and Steve Warlin."

"America's hardest working, most profoundly suffering Funnyman returns with his eighth Drag City release. No two Neil Hamburger albums have ever been alike, but this one will throw even the staunchest fan for a loop: Neil Hamburger sings country and western. As with the classic 'celebrity vocal' album by the likes of William Shatner and Telly Savalas, Neil's personality shines through, even when his vocal chords don't. Seven originals and three obscure covers pack in a maximum of storytelling and pathos in the tradition of the late great Porter Wagoner. On this once-in-a-lifetime release, Neil is backed up by a 'too good for Neil Hamburger' band who ensure that the sound is vintage country rather than unwanted novelty -- or worse yet, the universally-hated sound of contemporary country radio."
