The Berlin-based duo of Alex Tsiridis and Hüseyin Evirgen release new work recorded alongside DJ Nobu, Tensal, and Lady Starlight via their own Arcing Seas imprint. Leaning towards the more heady, high-octane end of the genre -- the three track EP showcases the duo''s natural affinity for collaboration, maintaining Evirgen & Tsiridis's characteristic finish and attention to detail, whilst providing ample space for the guests to properly color the work.

Rhyw is Alex Tsiridis, aka one half of Cassegrain. On this, his solo debut for Arcing Seas, his smoldering, alien techno sound manifesto continues to thrive over three unique tracks. The morphing, deconstructed acid of "Unpunishable" -- a molten statement of lusty intent -- strikes first in a heady, hazy pummeling of doom-funk. "Vertisol" pushes crisp and dry snaking percussion through an anechoic chamber; the bass end neatly warming at first then burning hard through your mid-section. An icy cold shot of "Aqua Velva" is the final offering -- a pushing sub-level trip through Rhyw's private domain.

Up next on Arcing Seas is Magna Pia with his second EP after his 2016 debut Incantations on Counterchange (COUNT 007EP). Behind the alias is Hüseyin Evirgen, one half of Cassegrain. ARCS-05 has a clear focus of providing combative dancefloor trips, unorthodox sonic moods with subtle '90s techno references. The EPs track titles "Artemisia", "Semiramis", and "Akasha" pay tribute to three mighty ancient heroines of very different origins. Consequently, Magna Pia continues his interest in combining techno tracks with archaic symbolism.

In quick succession to ARCS-03 (ARCS 003EP, 2017), which boasted remixes by The Mover, Shifted, and Peder Mannerfelt, Cassegrain keep up the pressure with a new EP of originals, ARCS-04. Returning to their tunneling, hypnotic trademark sound over three focused, club-ready trips, the Arcing Seas heads channel varied and irrepressible moods into each track. Built on solid dancefloor foundations and rich in colorful, non-conventional sound design, they scan through tribal ritualism with "Shahmaran", moving to the pumping urgency of "Caracal" and the rolling post-acid workout of "Vulpine". ARCS-04 is a straight-up DJ-friendly 12", something that's conveyed in its minimalist artwork.

Arcing Seas is back with an EP of selected tracks from the first two releases, remixed by The Mover, Peder Mannerfelt, and Shifted. Rave and techno legend The Mover turns "Trappist" into a hard-hitting electro workout using original parts that explode and punish the senses. Peder Mannerfelt offers his take on "Skull Gun". Broken beats and exciting percussion sit atop deep kicks, disorientating quick fire samples, and rapid snares. Finally, Shifted is called into action with a signature deep-sonic soundscape. Rumbling kicks and high frequency textures occupy the sound field, alongside reverberating samples from "Vultures".

The second release on Arcing Seas by label heads Cassegrain. This new material presents the duo's very individual approach to tonality within the techno framework, combined with a subtle tribal influence. Maintaining their aim, they keep things exciting for the club as well as sonically. Arcing Seas is an anagram of Cassegrain. It started out as a secret alias, releasing a couple EPs on Our Circula Sound.

Arcing Seas is an anagram of Cassegrain. It started out as a secret alias, releasing a couple EPs on Our Circula Sound. The secret was less well kept after the duo appeared at Berghain under this name. A year later, after deciding to start a label, it finally made sense to bring the two together. The three tracks here present three new and different directions, pushing Cassegrain's sound forward and showcasing their versatility. CASSEGRAIN = C - S - S - G - R - N - A - E - A - I = ARCING SEAS.
