After his 2017 Blank Editions debut Bird, Daf Lloyd left his London studio to write a dream diary, experiment with hypnosis, and make space (rather than time)-oriented music, before temporarily moving to the Russian forest, where he started the construction of the Dream Hotel. Built over the period of a year, Dream Hotel explores the space experienced in dreams, memories, and altered states of consciousness. Dense textures, ethereal tunings and rhythms created with a mix of electronic and analog instruments guide the listener through deep corridors and reveal doors to hallucinatory environments and other dimensions. 140 gram vinyl; includes download; edition of 300.

Id-Dar Tal-Missier (Maltese for "The House of the Father") is the new solo album from yndi halda founding member James Vella. James wrote and performed all the instrumentation on Id-Dar Tal-Missier, recording largely at home on his own setup, creating finished pieces layer-by-layer. Though the main body of composition is based on guitar and voice, Vella's list of instruments also includes banjo, cello, organ, xylophone, an ancient Chinese harp named guzheng, and drumkit, amounting to subtle and intelligent arrangements and beautiful textures. A few contributions from Vella's friends also grace the record: Mercury nominee C Duncan lends a lush choral vocal arrangement to "Banana Moth" and yndi halda co-founder Daniel Neal performs violin across several pieces. Often inspired by non-musical forms, Vella writes that Id-Dar Tal-Missier was instead created under the influence of sensory experiences. He lists filmmakers, Werner Herzog and Apichatpong Weerasethakul; the TV show Stranger Things; his dog Sully; the ("painstaking") process of writing his first novel; books by Cormac McCarthy, Gabriel Garcia Márquez, John Cheever, and Carson McCullers; visits to India, South America, and the Middle East. The artwork for Id-Dar Tal-Missier is based on photographs by James's father Mark who, since his retirement from medicine, has entered the world of nature photography. These photos were taken in Myanmar in early 2018; they reference the openness and immediacy of everything.

Decadent Sprinter a bizarre and yet comforting scene. You feel you understand and know what is happening, a connection to the movements. But in reality, you don't exist to them and in their world, you are just another adoring spectator. Recorded in the confines of industrial North Greenwich with producer Euan Hinshelwood in his analog tape studio, Ice Baths present four new pieces. Stitched together with ambient, droning noise -- the ghosts of their predecessors -- a haunting reminder that beneath the sometimes sunny exterior of the songs lies a constant anxiety in the songwriting and performance. "We spent so long on the album process, we really wanted to get back into the studio as soon as possible and write/record something new, without giving ourselves too much time to ruminate on external input -- a reset of our senses and the perfect way to bridge the divide between albums." Released on one-sided 12" vinyl because the band wanted the EP to have a "seamless unbroken listening experience". Housed in a die-cut black outer sleeve and color inner sleeve.

LP version. London five-piece Housewives return for more anarchic genre-blending adventures on their second LP, Twilight Splendour. The album is a synthesized collage written in Wetherspoons, cafes and anywhere away from their houseboats where they could find a permanent electrical supply. Exploring the possibilities of electronic sound, this new LP marks a turning point for the band - who sold their guitars to buy midi equipment and swapped London rents for water habitation. Bringing to mind the digital meditations of legendary producer Oneohtrix Point Never, Twilight Splendour presents a love letter from an early AI to its owner, its concept-led songs strewn with "ecstatic messages of frustration and a desire to connect". Since forming five years ago, Housewives have drawn from such diverse scenes as post-punk, jazz, drone, electronic and avant-garde. 2013 saw the release of an eponymous debut EP via Brighton label Faux Discx, while their first-full length record, Work - recorded at a barn in a desolate corner in the south of France - arrived in 2015. 2017 live album FF06116 (LAUNCH 116LP) marked the band's first collaboration with experimental saxophonist Ben Vince. Following on from these early statements, Housewives are now set to unleash their game-changing new album, turning away from performance-based writing, the human, and facing the cold light of computers head-on.

The self-titled LP is not a collaboration record between the two London based artists -- Tim Garratt (Moon Zero) and Matthew Heywood (Bruised Skies). Inchindown is a project focused on exploring ambient territory only hinted at with the two artists' solo work. Inchindown is a powerfully mournful and beautifully stark work, the soundtrack to walking through a storm of ash only to realize that the city is on fire whilst viewing this incredible spectacle from afar. Beautifully dark yet constantly hopeful, the album also pays homage to older and forgotten areas of their hometown of Hackney through field recordings. Notably "Ridley Road", a section of Hackney that houses a huge indoor and outdoor market and has been victim to violence over the years, features heavily as a repeated motif; a genuine and uniquely recorded atmosphere engulfs the listener at every stage of progression in this three-part work.

Self-titled debut from Ice Baths. London-based Ice Baths take influence from cult heroes such as Swell Maps, Television Personalities, Devo, US Maple -- all restless energy and angled aggression. Lyrically there is a bleakness and darkness, though the band prefer the listener to reach their own conclusions as to lyrical themes. "They centre on feelings or imagery that can be dreary, dark, difficult and abstract. We deliberately pass the buck to the listener to pick out certain moods or feelings," explains the band, which consists of Alex Ives, Thomas Cleall, Ed Shellard, and Jack Davis. The production process was not simple nor was it smooth. The band had a very clear idea of how they wanted the record to sound and that included a long, pain-staking period where ideas were scrapped and reworked. "It was an absolute challenge, we were very picky about how to get the sound we wanted. It led us to mixing the record ourselves. We wanted the record unpolished and raw, hissy, trebly, bitty and a bit uncouth," says Alex. To achieve the desired effect, the album was recorded on a selection of different Tascam tape machines -- a move to retain the grittiness of early demos as well as the spike their live shows are known for. Ice Baths have been on the London circuit for a short while now, they're a notoriously tight live band but now they are ready to take the next step. 140 gram vinyl; Includes two art prints, lyric sheet, and download code. Recommended to fans of Swell Maps, Wire, Devo, Women, Faux Fur, Unblonde, Cold Pumas, Viet Cong, Pavement.

Layered with spiked and twinkly guitars, off-kilter drumming, half-sung half-shouted vocals, and regurgitating details that linger in the head for weeks and months, Aathens have assembled a sincere and driving post-punk album. Harsh and precise, yet all the time containing a rare fluidity not found in the oceans of post-punk records coming out today. Dedicated to community, shared ideas/spaces, and their music, Aathens members also play in London based Ice Baths and H.Grimace.

Sophomore album from minimalist improviser Ben Vince. Monuments comes into an age of global uncertainty, where time and truth refract and mutate, demanding a response. From an axis of improvisation, Vince's saxophone works embrace the contours of more dynamic, emotive landscapes where rich motifs coalesce and feel their way around each other. In a departure from the more rigid looping of his debut The Purge (2016), Monuments explores much more progressive minimalist structures that undulate in-and-out of phase whilst not being afraid to suddenly warp or elevate unexpectedly. With four tracks spanning almost 35 minutes of music, each one is an epic journey into glacial melodies, drones, and velvet-like pitched bass tones, which sound even more lush on heavyweight vinyl. Ben Vince is also an active DJ, performer, and improviser, in demand for solo gigs, supporting the finest experimental acts old and new, including Keiji Haino and Tomaga. He is also known to be involved in live projects with Charles Hayward (This Heat) and NTS-selector and rising-star, Coby Sey. Comes in reverse board card cover with a stamped envelope, an art print and a collectors insert; 180 gram vinyl; Includes a download code.
