"Why Waste Time is a brand new Japanese-only CD release from Tortoise. 'Ruba'iyat' and 'Passerine' are both exclusive to this release and have never before been released. 'Gigantes (Mark Ernestus Version)' previously appeared on a 12" vinyl only EP (Thrill 12.34) that is long sold out. 'Ice Ice Gravy' was previously only available as an I-Tunes bonus track. In addition to the 30+ minutes of music there are two live videos of Tortoise performing in 2009 at Fuji Rock Festival in Japan and also a music video for the song 'Prepare Your Coffin'. The track 'Ruba'iyat' is an improvisation performed on the Suzuki Omnichord OM-84 (modified by Ben Houston @ Folktek), and the Folktek 'Luminist Garden' (created by Arius Blaze). It is a one pass duo improvisation, with minimal editing. 'Passerine' is composed entirely from the banks of samples that the band uses for live shows. These include keyboard parts, drum patterns, guitar/bass samples, atmospherics/random noise, and vocal sounds that appear in their original form within the recorded versions of the songs on all of the albums. Here they have been recontextualized, unusual blendings and pairings creating an entirely new composition which bears little or no relation to any of the pieces from which the sounds were sourced."

Japanese-only live CD release from Boredoms featuring audio from their 77 Boa Drum performance July 7, 2007 in New York on two CDs. Also includes a bonus photo book and DVD. "Deluxe package containing the full 100-minute '77 Boa Drum' performance on 2 CDs, split at the point in between the two sections of the piece. The two CDs are housed inside the front and back covers of a lovely 8"x12" hardcover book containing 28 pages of full color photos from the event. Also included is a DVD (NTSC format, All Region) including approximately 20 minutes of short segments from the performance. The presentation on this is truly top-notch. It's easily the most extravagant Boredoms artifact since 1999's Vision Creation Newsun box. The performance itself is an extraordinary example of the modern-day Boredoms approach to sprawling, rhythmic psychedelia. Their current lineup of three drummers (including mainstay Yoshimi P-We) plus EYE on electronics and vocals is further bolstered by an all-star cast of 74 additional drummers, including Hisham Bharoocha (Soft Circle, ex-Black Dice), Kid Millions (Oneida), Aaron Moore (Volcano The Bear), Tim DeWitt (ex-Gang Gang Dance), Dave Nuss (No Neck Blues Band), Andee Connors (A Minor Forest, Lumen), Sara Lund (Unwound), Ryan Sawyer (Tall Firs), Josh Madell (Antietam) and Brian Chippendale (Lightning Bolt) at #77." -- ning nong

Japanese-only exclusive release, packaged in deluxe gatefold digipak. Yoshimio features Yoshimi from Boredoms/OOIOO w/guest vocals by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth (which includes a cover of "Death Valley '69"). Musically it's mostly a solo release by Yoshimi (featured on steel guitar, vocals, shell syntheizer, percussions, electric guitar, shaker, bell, whistle, drum machine, keyboards, drums, field recordings, etc.). The music is a soundtrack to a documentary movie of the same name; the movie focuses on the women of Yunnan, a remote area in southern China -- near Tibet, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. This movie (which is included as the DVD in this 2 disc set) is 42 minute film with various street shots of these Yunnan woman -- in the markets, looking at food, in the fields and just standing around in total elegance, in the most colorful clothing imaginable -- with no-narration or overt linear intention. Not exactly Sublime Frequencies style, but not that far off, either! And Yoshimio's ethno-trance soundtrack works perfectly. DVD is NTSC region free; Color; Stereo.

Japanese-exclusive compilation of remix works by Yamataka Eye! Features various remixes that Eye has done over the past decade (most impossible to track down individually) of the likes of Gong, OOIOO, Atami, Flare (Ken Ishii), etc. Tracklisting: Walrus: "Moth (remixed by Eye)"; DJ Pica Pica Pica: "Spa"; Boat: "African Dawn Remix"; Flare (Ken Ishii): "Turbinates"; NXS: "Sleeper" (Micro Forest Mix 2000); Zeebra: "Smokin' At The Lobby (Your Turn) (Magic Mushroom Mix)"; Gong: "Master Builder (EYE Mix) ; Wrench: "Cosmic Hierarchy (EYE remix)"; OOIOO: "Asozan" (EYE Mix)"; Atami: "Nightingale (x-mas mix)"; Black Drop Bomb: "When The Man Have Realized The Sound-Flow (it's like that)" plus one more we're too incompetent to figure out. Maybe it's Kawamoto Makoto's version of "Gimme Shelter"? One artist originally announced (Black Dice) didn't seem to make the final cut.
