The newest album by Chicago's noise rock band. BigʼN was, is and always shall be a legacy noise rock band (est. 1990) comprised of vocalist William Akins, guitarist Todd Johnson, bassist Fred Popolo, and drummer Brian Wnukowski. After releasing a stellar debut album (1994), followed by their sophomore and signature effort Discipline Through Sound on Skingraft Records (1996) and a split single with Shellac, the band became inactive for some years. In 2018, BigʼN recorded and released a new EP, Knife of Sin, via Computer Students. In 2022, they released DTS 25, an expansion of their pioneering second album. Both were recorded by the late, great Steve Albini. BigʼN is back once again with a ruthless new album, End Comes Too Soon -- their first in 28 years -- released via Computer Student. It's all still here as present and disciplined as ever -- Brianʼs powerful, reliably precise drumming with melodic phrasing that shapes the songs, Fredʼs metallic superstructure of a bass that builds the defined framework of the music, Toddʼs clangorous guitar that has more harmonic content than a lot of his noisier peers, and William Akinsʼ yarling vocals, the most recognizably human thing about the band, that convey layers of tension and intent, all the emotional content of a hellbound therapy session. Tragically, on May 7, 2024, Steve Albini suddenly passed away of a heart attack. Naturally, BigʼN were shocked and devastated. End Comes Too Soonʼs title comes from a lyric, and is unrelated to Albini; still, the album became a roundabout love letter to the man, his studio, and his legacy. Like its predecessors, the album is structured by snippets of musical interludes or Transmissions -- and there are six here, under the common code "XMSN." Also available in aluminum packaging (CS 010LTD-LP).

Midwestless is the fifth and newest album from St. Louis, Missouri rock failures The Conformists. Once again recorded with Steve Albini at the majestic Electrical Audio, this album marks their first recorded output as a trio. Formed in November of 1996 deep within a basement bedroom somewhere between the corn fields and strip malls of Southern Illinois, The Conformists began as four teenagers with a desire to create ugly rock music. Eventually, they grew up and now dabble in moments which could even be described as quite beautiful and melodic. Elsewhere, elements of insistent repetition with an initial appearance of stasis reveal -- with multiple listens -- intricate details under the surface.

Originally released in 2000 exclusively on CD, the self-titled debut album by Boston-based instrumental math-rock band Lynx is now being reissued and available for the first time on vinyl. This visionary record, a precursor to the math music of the new millennium, skillfully blends stripped-down, repetitive guitars with angular, minimalist drum patterns. This deluxe edition is augmented by a second vinyl entitled Human Speech, an EP featuring three unreleased tracks recorded in 2021 but composed more than 20 years ago. The entire collection is released by Computer Students in their Expanded Reissues series. It includes a massive double-sided poster and is housed in a sleek, tactile aluminum packaging. Includes 12" EP with three unreleased tracks recorded in 2021; includes poster.

Reissue, originally released in 2000. A "cheval de frise" is a military defensive structure. It is the alias under which Thomas Bonvalet and Vincent Beysselance formed their duo, creating anxious, agitated music with perpetually changing, almost Baroque, patterns. Urgent, emotional, and paradoxically structured and thought out in the finest detail, it drew much of its influences from the many forms of '90s American post-hardcore, while being undeniably singular. The formation was instrumental and the bass was abandoned for an amplified classical guitar, giving them their signature sound. In a French musical landscape where rock and guitar music did not thrill much anymore, Cheval de Frise came as a surprise. After a few demos, the band released their first eponymous album in 2000 on Sonore, a label based in Bordeaux. It was well received, allowing Cheval de Frise to tour all over Europe. Their second album, Fresques sur les parois secrètes du crâne, was recorded in 2002. The band split in 2004 leaving their mini album La Lame du Mat to be released later. Around the world, many instrumental, energetic, fast and complex bands would emerge in the following years, usually labeled as "math rock". But the unique color of Cheval de Frise remained, marked by a certain anachronistic romanticism. Remastered by Carl Saff, Cheval de Frise is reissued on New York label Computer Students.

The 25th anniversary edition of the noise-rock band's undisputed masterpiece recorded by Steve Albini. Remastered edition including a big booklet and a bonus disc of demos, outtakes, and unreleased tracks. Discipline Through Sound 25 is the new album by Big'n, a noise-rock band from Chicago that formed in 1990. At the time, the band consisted of vocalist William Akins, guitarist Todd Johnson, bassist Mike Chartrand, and drummer Brian Wnukowski. This outstanding expanded reissue was intended to come out in 2021 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Discipline Through Sound, Big'n's indisputable masterpiece originally released on Gasoline Boost in 1996, but was delayed due to a PVC shortage and the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic. DTS 25 is a massive album. It contains two pieces of superb-quality vinyl with a reissue and remaster of Discipline Through Sound on the first disc. Side C contains unreleased demos from the album. As for Side D, it contains three previously CD-only tracks from a split with OXES (1999) -- plus two never-before-heard outtakes. Don't miss your chance to own a brilliant, undersung artifact of '90s noise-rock in Chicago -- refreshed, expanded, and more venomous than ever before. The release is supplemented by a 12-page booklet featuring never-before-seen photos of the band, a foreword by Steve Albini, and writings from Big'n's associates. 6mm spine gatefold cover with matte finish. Housed in a sleek, tactile, Type-2 aluminum packaging newly developed and designed by Computer Students.
