2017 release. Portuguese producer and Discotexas founder Moullinex is back with his finest album to date, Hypersex. A collective love letter to club culture and its celebration of difference, freedom and love, for his third album, Moullinex reached out to several guest singers, including Fritz Helder, Georgia Anne Muldrow (Flying Lotus, Mos Def), Iwona Skwarek (Rebeka), Best Youth, Marta Ren, Da Chick, UhAhUh, and Tee Flowers, crafting a uniquely fresh sound that combines many of his musical influences. Hypersex can thus be seen as linking the funk, groove and sunshine of his debut Flora (2012) to the psychedelia and tropicalia of Elsewhere (DT 050CD/LP, 2015). Moullinex is the alter ego of the Portuguese producer and multi-instrumentalist Luis Clara Gomes. He's established himself as one of the leading artists in the modern disco scene, with several singles such as "Take My Pain Away" and Peaches collaboration "Maniac". He has also done remixes for acts like Røyksopp, Cut Copy, Two Door Cinema Club, and RAC. The road to Hypersex has been paved by various singles and videos in 2017, expanding the spirit of collaboration to directors and visual artists, and gathered wide support from international tastemakers across the globe. Hypersex is like hypertext between humans, a system designed to multiply ideas and connections among people, and the dance floor is the perfect medium.

2017 release. Discotexas, formed by Moullinex and Xinobi, celebrates its tenth anniversary with this 2017 compilation, 10CoTexas. It may sound surprising now but the reality is that none of us could imagine that ten years later Discotexas would still be running, let alone everything the label has achieved. It all started in a very simple way in 2007; both Moullinex and Xinobi felt the need to get their music released and heard, so they started Discotexas. The intervening decade has been a rollercoaster of achievements and disappointments but most importantly the pair managed to get both their music and that of others released, heard, played, and enjoyed. They couldn't find a better way to celebrate a decade of Discotexas other than putting out this very special record. 10CoTexas is a compilation that captures not only their history but also their eternal passion for music. It's a memorable gathering of artists and some of their most important tracks, but it is also the perfect excuse to present some exclusive originals and a few unreleased rarities. It contains iconic originals and remixes by Moullinex, Xinobi, Da Chick, Kamp!, Rebeka, Mirror People, and Psychemagik alongside "São Paulo" by Double Damage and the first original track by The Discotexas Band, an in-house band compromising Moullinex, Xinobi and Da Chick. Also features Zimmer, Throes and The Shine, Justin Faust, Lazydisco, Astrolabe, Pete Herbert, Satin Jackets, Bufi, Antenna Happy, Jesse Oliver, Miami Horror, Jon Jury, Mercury, and Double Damage.

2017 release. Xinobi's 2017 album on Discotexas, On The Quiet, is an album rooted in the now. Danceable emo electronica, atmospheric house, ethereal techno, dark chill; there are many ways in which one could describe this music. More than anything, though, On The Quiet is a dance floor-focused story about the transition of many electronic musicians from punk rock and skateboarding into house music and about how dance music can be a space for social awareness. It's common knowledge that the second album from an artist is a most difficult task, but On The Quiet proves the exception. After countless successful singles and remixes, Xinobi found his own style on his debut album, 1975 (DT 044CD/LP, 2014) and now improves that style with this set of songs. On The Quiet is a reflection of the path that many contemporary electronic musicians have crossed, starting with punk and developing a musical diversity while keeping some of the DIY ethics associated with that music. Indeed, one could even say this a DIY record. Not only did Xinobi play and self-produce the album, but he is, along with Moullinex, one of the founders of Discotexas. That's not to say that Xinobi is the only voice on the album; friends were invited to sing on some tracks and Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat, Fugazi) makes an appearance in a nod to Xinobi's punk roots. The record also features artwork by Braulio Amado, extensive biographical writings, the lyrics, and interviews with Igor Cavalera (Sepultura, Mixhell) and David Andersson.

It was about time Xinobi released his debut album. Building his name on the back of successful singles like "Best of Me" (Work It Baby) or "Puma" (Discotexas), 1975 gets him ahead of his peers with an original way of making dance tracks you can actually listen to at home. 1975 is special. It's Xinobi's debut album and it pretty much summarizes his recent and diverse approach to music. It has organic house music and disco flavors mixed with a strong, yet idiosyncratic pop sensibility that stands out of what could be too obvious on a dance music-oriented record. For 54 minutes, you're driven by a simultaneously homogeneous and diverse collection of songs that range from contemplative intimate moments to memorable choruses that gather tons of people singing and clapping soulfully. It's a dissimulated, anthemic record, but it stands as much more than that. Imagine the roughness of Caribou merged with Ennio Morricone-ish ambiences; the fragmental DJ Koze deep trips with sunny Lisbon as a background; Spaghetti Disco or Supermax on Jamaican dub. Surf guitar and deep house. Simple and dense. Humble and nerdy. It's all of these glued onto a great combo in an intelligent and contemporary way.

After two years of producing new material, Justin Faust is finally putting out his first full-length album on Discotexas. Justin Faust has quickly emerged at the vanguard of Europe's nu disco/electro house and has taken over dancefloors and DJ charts during the past half-decade. Based in Munich but an integral member of Portugal's Discotexas label, Faust has created an album that shows how Justin creates his musical vision -- from very club-friendly classics like "Girl Talk" to nu disco and pop excursions and even slow material, this album is like a summer breeze of feel-good vibes. The album also includes the hit single "Space Rhumba" and a completely new version of his classic tune "High Hopes," as well as a unique approach to his first Discotexas EP title-track "Holdin On," renamed "Slowin Down." On "Na Sowas," he was able to work with guitar legend Mats Björklund, who recorded tons of records for the likes of Boney M. and Giorgio Moroder -- a true disco legend. The first single of the album will be released on September 12 and is called Spellbound, which sets the path with a pumpin' mix of nu disco and house. No matter where you play it, Spellbound will fill the dancefloor. Limited LP edition of 300 copies, includes a download card.

"To Be Clear" is the third single coming from Moullinex's highly-acclaimed debut album Flora. Mixmag gave it a 10/10 and wrote that it is a "perfect pop record." For this 12" remix Discotexas called in RAC, Kraak & Smaak and Zimmer to deliver three new approaches to the song. While RAC take it a bit further in the electro-pop camp, Kraak & Smaak go in another direction into the realms of deep house, and Zimmer wraps it up into a nu-disco stomper.

Since 2007, Discotexas has flown the flag for quality disco and leftfield house music releases from a wide array of artists out of its sunny base in Portugal. Now, for the second time, the label is compiling some of its most popular cuts alongside a selection of unreleased exclusives that will soon see the light of day as singles packages. The title is Discotexas Picnic II, a nod to the fact that this release shines a light on known and unknown artists in one big family gathering. Importantly, this is music richly centered on disco and house -- it is emotional and fueled by organic and memorable tunes. There are many highlights and previously-unreleased tracks including the opener by Moullinex, a prickly, slo-mo, vocal-led jam bursting with colorful synths and real instruments. Others include the strident boom-bap and real-sounding percussion of Jay Lamar & Jesse Oliver's "Cul De Sac," Da Chick's radiant and pop-leaning "Lotta Love," the Xinobi remix of Justin Faust's "Space Rhumba" and Xinobi's "Puma (Moullinex Remix)." Elsewhere, the cosmic funk of Jesse Oliver's "Oceans (Mirror People Remix)" soars into the twinkly night sky with glistening, arpeggiated melodies, '80s-leaning chords and a healthy dose of disco dazzle, while edit-kings Psychemagik do their inimitable thing on a remix of Mirror People's "Kaleidoscope" and turn it into a prowling, nagging, dark disco number that really works its way under your skin with its celestial keys and slightly haunted late-night vibe. Wherever you look here, there is pure and modern disco gold from some of the genre's finest producers, as expertly A&Red by the close-knit Discotexas family. Individually, the tracks on Discotexas Picnic II have been supported by some of today's leading DJs and producers such as Mylo, Aeroplane, Dimitri From Paris, The Magician, In Flagranti, DJ T, The Glimmers, Bottin, Munk, and many more. Other artists on the compilation include: RAC, Kamp!, Rebeka, Zimmer, and Mercury.

Discotexas has been one of the most active labels in today's nu disco/indie dance scene, releasing new and established artists mainly digitally. This is their first CD, released to introduce the label to the CD market. Discotexas Picnic I gathers some of the best tracks from recent months. Includes Justin Faust's hit single "Girl Talk" (Beatport top 3 in the nu disco/indie dance chart) to Kamp!'s "Cairo" (Moullinex Remix), which was a huge dancefloor filler, to Mirror People's "Feel the Need" (Munk Remix), featuring Rowetta (from Happy Mondays) on vocals, to Moullinex & Xinobi's collaborative track "X Marks the Spot," the debut single from studio wizard team Jay Lamar & Jesse Oliver, new Parisien disco producer Zimmer with his track "Slave to Your Heart" featuring Jeremy Glenn and remixed by Xinobi, Appaloosa's "Patchwork" remixed by ex-Mustang Attar!, Poland's electro-pop sensation Rebeka, whose "Stars" video got more than 100, 000 views, among others. Discotexas Picnic I is a collection of tracks that were previously released either on a very limited edition 12" or digitally. The majority of these tracks are being released on physical format for the first time due to public demand. It's the first in a series of compilations that will be released on a regular basis, showcasing the best and most successful tracks on the label. 2012 release. Label boss Xinobi returns to Discotexas with (I Hate the Sound of) Guitars, an undercover uplifting song. It's dark and epic while also being simultaneously discordant and melodic. It goes deep on house and, somehow, happy on disco, travelling from fresh funk to a deeper mood without losing consistency and evoking both Miami palm trees and cold Berlin nights, as well as everything in between. Limited to 200 numbered copies on white vinyl.
