Maceo Plex, owner of Ellum Audio, presents The Tesseract EP. "The Tesseract" is an intriguing blend of urban soundscape and slow-burning, post-industrial drama. Held in place by a creeping arpeggiated bassline and accented throughout with sonic reflections and subtle shifts in resonance, "The Tesseract" has all the suspense of a Cold War spy thriller and the spine-tingling urgency of classic electronic body music. On "5th Dimensional Groove", Maceo and the UK duo Swayzak join forces. A trembling lead synth figure snakes in between a pulse-quickening mix of low-end sequences and minimal but forceful pneumatic percussion.

Egypt-born, Barcelona-based DJ and producer Raxon was a resident at Audio Tonic events in Dubai and has performed all over the world, from Creamfields to Watergate to the Amsterdam Dance Event, in addition to guesting on John Digweed's radio show. The steely and direct "Majoris" opens this 12" with driving drums and slithering synth sounds; building to a big energetic peak with plenty of effects and filters, it is futuristic and abstract and full of the sort of tension for which Ellum Audio is known. The stellar "Sin Control" is much darker and more brooding, with a paranoid lead synth pinning surrounded by spaceship sounds and whirring machines.

Sold out, repress available May/2017. Maceo Plex, aka Eric Estornel, presents Journey To Solar on Ellum Audio. Opening this essential release is "Hang 106", a forceful seven minutes of eerie and cosmic techno that stretches out in all directions as manic melodies rain down from above. "Traktion" is full of ominous drones, crashing percussion and somber pads and makes for a dramatic and driving track that is filled with pain. "Love On Time" picks up the pace with twisted synths roaming free above a motorik kick and icy hi-hats. Following is the slow and spaced-out groove of "The Replicant V1", with fat synths and dark spacecraft sounds circling you as the drums grow ever bigger. "Shoulder Of Orion" then drops into a rickety groove with soulful pads stretching off to the horizon as rough drums march below. "The Replicant V2" is a spacey and dramatic techno effort with widescreen pads and gurgling synths making for a turbulent ride. Proving he has real range, "Motor Rotor" is a deep and driving track that conveys a real sense of motion as it races along an intergalactic highway.
