Three vinyl LPs in a 7mm black cover sleeve printed with silver foil logo on the front and tracklist on the back. Printed in glossy ink. Mixing meditation, sacred-geometry, searching for meaning behind the notes, Emika lost her mind trying to escape the reality of the lock-downs. Creativity in overdrive, determined to discover new dimensions: She produced VEGA. Named after the second brightest star after the Sun, VEGA is in the northern constellation of Lyra; one of the most beautiful sounding- instruments in Greek mythology. Vocals. Electronic. Classical. Collabs with Horace Andy (Massive Attack), Sebastian, Liela Moss, Rødhad, Anna Phoebe, and Robert Ames

A blend of Emika's neoclassical descending melodies, signature breathy, female vocals, icey pianos, heavy sub-bass vibrations and layered hazy beats. Sat between her life in moving-boxes, wedged between them surrounding her upright piano in an unfurnished empty-sounding room in her in-laws house. Haze was made with voice-memo recordings of her piano and voice on her phone, edited and mixed on her laptop in headphones. Little loops in Ableton, lyrics, sadness and melodies, just like Emika's real-life in boxes. Sounds like a mix of Thom Yorke, Burial, Nils Frahm, all swirled together in a colorful yet creamy mix.

Eomac has injected a new level of consciousness into beat-making by recording water drips and drops. This edge of real life and water frequencies feels like opening a door in your mind and taking a rhythmic sound shower, finding tiny minimal melodies within the water itself. Distorting reality, in the most beautifully crafted and playful manner, Eomac's Water Tracks are made with natural sounds of water and they not only make your body want to dance, they are a joy for the minds ear; sound design full of life and character, refreshing for the soul too. If hyper-real techno was a genre -- perhaps Eomac has invented it here -- the idea to use micro melodies found in drips, drops, and sploshes of water feels clever and inventive. Swimming upstream against the standardized sound of Techno's machine-made electronic presets. Clear vinyl and silver pantone print on sleeve.
Eomac is a project from Irish composer and producer Ian McDonnell, releasing genre-spanning electronic music via Planet Mu, The Trilogy Tapes, Bedouin Records, Killekill, Phantom Limb, Emika Records, and more. Eomac's sound draws from obscure samples and raw sound design in a continuing exploration of the furthest reaches of intense, visceral music for body and soul. He digs deep into light and dark mysticism for the dancefloor, as experienced in numerous performances at festivals and clubs across the globe.

To take something classical -- a mass for the dead -- a requiem, something most are familiar with as old church music and reinvent this as something new -- a requiem with synths, could just be a stroke of genius. Schlindwein has done exactly that Ein elektronisches Requiem, quite literally translates to "An Electronic Requiem", is the first and only one of its kind.
Schlindwein is a pianist, composer and music producer from Berlin. His music has been used on multiple major TV series like Grey's Anatomy or How To Get Away With Murder and his songs have been occupying some of the biggest editorial playlists. His debut LP Piano and Electronic Ensemble Op.1 has received much critical acclaim. Classically inspired compositions and electronic sounds merge into his own world of dreamy, lush atmospheres while creating seamless transitions between neoclassic, electronica, and deep house. After now multiple albums and EPs, Schlindwein is going into more brave and ambitious musical directions while cementing his vision of contemporary electronic music beyond fixed genres.

Hypnotic and seductive, Emika crafts Earthy melodic techno track "Breath Cuts" using her breathy vocals, kick, and devilish sub bass. Pleasure and pain, the euphoria Emika knows how to create sonically in order for her to lose her mind through the music and escape reality, composed and produced during the darkest chapter in her life, she mixes in the inevitable pain of a once locked-down Berlin. "Breath Cuts" is a journey-style dance track, for song-lovers or DJs that like to tell stories on their dance-floors. Emika reveals a poem in the middle of the song, a dream about being free again; "I like to look out the window. I like to imagine the clouds." Norman Nodge, Berghain resident by night and lawyer by day, pulls out and enhances the lush ethereal vocal elements, remixing them further into an angel-like chorus, one can imagine the dancefloor in Berghain -- people rushing from the sound while spirits float above them looking down. The two producers decided to provide listeners and DJs with a functional kick-less mix for advanced mixing pleasure.

Following on from the hugely popular Klavirni, Emika's first solo piano album in 2015 (EMK 001CD/LP), her second installment of piano solos are a magical cluster of melodies, dreamy effects, obscure production mistakes with tape echo's and other old analog gear. The pieces were recorded during the time she was pregnant with her first child Silvy, to whom she has dedicated this record "To Silvy who heard it first from the inside". The collection of "Dilo's" which means moment in Czech, were recorded "in a state of ultra-hyped up creativity combined with a massive fear about losing my identity or creativity as an artist once I would become a mother," says Emika, about the album process. A truly personal affair and in keeping with the original style of the first Klavirni, all the Dilo's were recorded improvisations by the composer on her home piano, this time in Berlin. This release marks the five-year anniversary of Emika Records, celebrating five years of independence since her days with Ninja Tune. Dilo Variations EP (not released previously before on vinyl) will come with the anniversary releases as a 10" with updated artwork (EMK 1001EP). This is also the final release in her Emika Records catalog before starting a new venture in 2020 with more details to follow later in the year. Klavirni Temna which means dark piano in Czech, explores the relationship between dark and light, good and evil, death and rebirth. "Music is a powerful and sometimes unexplainable force" --Emika.

Emika releases a remix EP of her sixth studio album Falling In Love With Sadness (EMK 004CD/LP, 2018), originally released on World Mental Health Day October 2018. The remix EP explores four sound worlds in electronic music today. Experimental bass music, hypnotic and dark techno, and electro. Pinch, a pioneer of UK bass-driven music, is considered to be one of the most groundbreaking, explorative producers to emerge from the UK dubstep scene. Solid remixes from solid underground artists. Pinch creates a seductive environment for a scene from which could have been from David Fincher's Fight Club (1999), one which threatens to overload at any given time, but retains tension until the end. Rising techno star Julia Govor is an artist doing things differently, paving her own way with her own label, receiving recognition from the global dance music scene. Julia's mix transports you into the next part of the journey, beyond conflict and tension, she gives you the chance to breathe, open up, be free and to dance. Rebekah needs no introduction, pioneering her own intense sound, she is a serious artist with some seriously heavy vibes. Rebekah's remix brings us hurtling back down to Earth at a tremendous pace, with crystal clear drums that wake up the soul and synths that energize the mind, this version is more than a dark techno track, it has the spirit of a self-confident grown woman running through it. Underground Berlin talent Headless Horseman, all though shrouded in mystery, is in high-demand worldwide to perform his unique live sets at some of the biggest clubs and festivals. Headless Horseman brings Emika's original into a beautiful new song space, re-voicing the harmony and finding completely fresh chords and backing. Emika produced original album material with cult electro icon The Exaltics. The artwork hits the mark with a message important for Emika: Equality. With three female artists and three male artists all featured on the cover, this is a way in which Emika highlights her love for collaboration and sharing of the spotlight. First edition of green vinyl; edition of 500.

Given its years of manifestation behind the scenes of other projects, Falling In Love With Sadness reflects a renewed understanding of Emika's own genealogy, kindred lineage, and its connection to modernity. Marking a drastic departure from the menacing, stripped-down qualities of albums past, Dva (2013) and DREI (EMK 002CD/LP, 2015), Emika has surfaced with a new upwelling of sound gracing the bittersweet, melancholic, and sanguine. With the interplay of myriad genres both rhythmically and melodically intertwining between spacy, dub-tinged "Promises", lush synth pop hooks on "Escape", and the title track's soulful electro, a full spectrum of musicology remains primary to the ever-evolving chroma of Emika's shadowed sound. Further characterized by the breathy sibilance and sultry tones of Emika's noirish, vocal aesthetic, the album navigates through the morose and trappings of misanthropy by illuminating a narrative of emotional resilience and recovery. Co-produced with Robert Witschakowski of The Exaltics, and continuing her collaboration with guitarist Chris Lockington (as heard on DREI and Dva), Falling In Love With Sadness provides a fifth solo album for Emika, but moreover, defines itself as an overture for her future works.

The crossover between electronic music and classical composition has never been in more vibrant and dynamic health. Multifarious musician Emika explores this fertile ground on her ambitious new opus Melanfonie: her first orchestral composition, some four years in the making. While many rebel from their classical training never to return to it explicitly, Emika has always been attracted to the potential and freedoms offered by the symphony form. As well as taking inspiration from her electronic music background in composing the music itself, Emika also applied some of production and playback principles from that realm to create a piece whose every element has been carefully considered. Melanfonie is a romantic and lyrical piece, with universal themes of love and sadness, and huge beautiful melodies. It was performed by a 50 piece symphony orchestra and Emika employed a seating plan for the orchestra to make the recording sound more like a wide stereo pop album. Emika is on a quest to try and change what we mean when we talk about "classical music". For her, the magic of the "genre" is about the instruments themselves and more importantly the people who play them; not the restricting traditions and conventions of the classical world itself. Emika of Melanfonie: "I want to change the face of classical music and give it a more honest and real image. It is time we had something other than pomp and circumstance and avant-garde squeaks and pops." Personnel: Michaela Šrůmová - soprano; Prague Metropolitan Orchestra; Paul Batson - conductor.

"Forever" is the sound of Emika boiled down to her steely essence. Gated vocal snippets and haunting synth arpeggios give a nod to early-'90s proto-trance, the arps filtering in-and-out of focus in tense fashion before unfolding into a dreamy melodic progression. "Never" treads similar ground but takes a more direct approach, the tension building consistently in layers as more arpeggiated synths gently modulate in hypnotic fashion. Shimmering, icy sounds create a haunting, slow-burning atmosphere before the rhythm switches up for the latter half of the track, layers of gated white noise further punctuating the groove.

Remixes of two tracks from prolific electronica polymath Emika's 2015 album DREI (EMK 002CD/LP) (Ibiza Spotlight Album of the Week; "a fascinating album" --Rolling Stone). UK techno legends The Black Dog's "Battles" rework is all brooding pads, electro glitchery, and stomping breakbeats; Kamikaze Space Programme's version is more dramatic still. Leading off four remixes of "What's the Cure," CNCPT (Brenda, Natch Records) delivers dubbed-out, reverb-heavy techno. German Clone and Bunker affiliate The Exaltics offers an atmospheric electro rework with a thick, rubbery bassline. Borai (Tasteful Nudes) and Emika provide a stripped-back, heavily-swung, stomping take before Eomac's stunning string-laden interpretation.

Berlin-based producer Emika follows her 2015 solo piano album Klavírní (EMK 001CD/LP) with DREI, an album that channels electroclash-era rapid-fire bass and syncopated beats amid soaring synths. It is the work of a songwriter who wears her heart on her sleeve, with deeply personal sentiments imbuing her brooding, expansive soundscapes throughout the album. The intricate, deft production flourishes that flow through the album and the breadth of moods attest to Emika's status as a fully-fledged artist. On the vampish "Miracles," she pitches her voice down to duet with herself in haunting fashion. "DREI is ultimately about freedom. Coping with freedom. Limitations vs Freedom. The shock of a miracle. The madness of being alone. Ambitions and insecurities. The perils of a limitless creative mind. And without a doubt, my desire to produce fat hard beats without needing anyone -- complete with a fresh sound." --Emika

UK-born, raised with Czech roots, and currently working out of Berlin, Emika rose to critical acclaim through album and club releases encompassing bass, dubstep, and techno music, crossing styles and genres in her own very distinct cutting-edge pop sound. She now presents a unique and compelling record of solo piano pieces, offering an almost voyeuristic portrait of her creative process. Klavirni is an album that seeps gently into the soul without demanding unnecessary effort from the listener. It provides a personal, raw, unpolished, and captivating glimpse into the pure essence of artistic endeavor; Emika offers an intimate look into the fundamental process that lies at the core of not just this latest body of work but of the artist as an individual, recalling, "I stayed a few weeks at my parents' home in Milton Keynes in Dec13/Jan14. My favorite piano is there from my childhood, the piano that I did all my grades on. That piano has been the most important instrument in my whole life." A piano diary based on improvisation, the album can be described as "futuristic classical," with piano miniatures recorded precisely as if the listener were sitting behind the piano, and then sampled, stretched, splashed with echoes, and reversed in Emika's homemade Berlin studio. Emika Records continues on its self-chartered journey with a personal, warm, inviting, and moving record from this creatively thriving and enduring talent. CD edition includes email address from which purchasers can request a free copy of the score.

This is the first release on Emika Records, the newly-founded label by the British producer, Emika, who lives in Berlin. These tracks are inspired by the dancefloor, but they are also a reaction to the feeling of a certain weariness with current electronic music. "Melancholia Euphoria A" is a prime example of Emika's understanding of electronic music existing between pop and the avant-garde, with wordless, euphoric singing, shimmering synth sounds, and handclaps. "Melancholia Euphoria B" features a bittersweet sentiment and two precise melodies that compete with each other as gaming synth sounds merge with a relentlessly galloping piano. Two tracks that convey opposing emotions: melancholy and euphoria.
