An Italian-Spanish connection is always a good thing. The sort of sensual and Mediterranean emotions that Carlo and Black Loops can deliver, is a skill that has been taken far on this new EP. The dichotomy can prove difficult to square sometimes, particularly when the guys have different paths in their sound. But the mix is rich here. The Intermission EP is a packed full of soul samples, warm pads, and great solid beats wrapped up as a soulful declaration. Their massive love for music really shines through on this EP.

Baldo's EP, The Change, is released on Good Ratio Music, the label run by himself and his buddy Carlo. As far as we remember the Barcelona based producer had always an affinity for dirty drum-machines rhythms and buzzing analog sounds. Baldo can be recognized by his choice of style, a fierce and confident house, pure in intent and effective in execution. And this is exactly what you should expect in this new EP. The boss of Let's Play House, Jacques Renault has remixed "The Change", giving to the track a whole different mind.

Good Ratio Music strikes gold with the first EP from Carlo on the imprint. Forget Me Not is a record that plays directly into one of the artist's strengths: melting a coherent whole from ephemeral parts. Carlo keeps it rather fiercely on the house grooves, creating a far out sound with his fluent pulse and motif-based melodic improvisations. On the flip side, Kresy delivers a solid remix of the title track.

The Guide EP is dedicated to BBC Radio 4's 1978 adaptation of Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Stu Robinson aka Asok has amassed a fine understanding of D&B, electro-funk, disco, house, and techno. He has released on Use of Weapons, M>O>S Recordings, Lobster Theremin, and Mule Musiq, and co-founded his own Scenery imprint. His tracks here, clearly marked by a dark influence, are fueled by analog feelings that come across with a crunchy, distorted, and saturated soul. Barcelona-based Baldo's drum clusters add a melancholic vibe to his variety of layers and samples, supplying seriously infectious rhythms.

Good Ratio Music presents The Time Is Now, a four-tracker EP that collect forces onto the same piece of wax from Kresy, Tom Ellis, Baldo (feat. Lady Blacktronika) and Carlo. This 12" kicks off with Kresy and a fine piece of house music inspired on a solid groove. Tom Ellis follows up with a version of "Co-Create" that explores synths and micro-rhythms. Baldo's Chicago rhythms here feature Lady Blacktronika. "Ask of Me" is an intense and dark tune. Finally, Carlo presents a branded deep tune to keep things interesting until the end.

Featuring a remix by Tin Man (!!).Good Ratio Music presents a release from Little Big Orchestra containing a bunch of mysterious sounds clashing with deep, dark sequences. The music unlocks a very intimate side of the artist, with songs made from broken beats, pitched voices and profound themes, sending the listener off into another universe. The remixer here is the genius Tin Man who transformed the track "Toys & Diamonds" into a more solid, slow techno rhythmic version.

Next up on Good Ratio Music is Baldo with Spies & Lies. "Might Be" is a fresh cut of house music with a funky bass-line and lively pads. "Dare to Feel" is deeper and more melancholic, with some acid stuff at the end. "Juggling" finishes this awesome work with some analogic feeling, adding more acid melodies on top, making it a beautiful symphony for the senses. John Daly's remix of "Might Be" combines a great bass line with groovy riffs.

Tom Ellis presents four evocative songs that feel pretty organic and sensitive at the same time. You might be ready to embark on such an affecting voyage built upon those ever-imperfect harmonies and natural rhythms. This EP can be correctly catalogued as deep house, but with everything mixed up -- sax samples and voices go further to get the dancefloor moving. Sax & voice by Michiel Renger & Sammy Maine, respectively.

The Neovinyl label crew unleashes the debut EP on brand-new label Good Ratio Music. The first release starts with Money from Chasing Kurt, a newborn deep house project from Gießen, Germany. This is a collaboration between Pascal Blanché, Wojtek Kutschke and Lukas Poloczek. Both tracks are introspective, with solid, stabilized grooves. Includes a remix by Tom Ellis that contrasts between a great rhythm and melodic vocals.
