For its third release, Jaunt> Records returns to the guiding hand of its founders, Blackhall & Bookless. "Straightener" is a techno bomb with lashings of low-end bass frequencies, sauntering about with an uncompromising swagger that'll tear up the dancefloor. "Differences" is a nifty creation that makes smart use of some clever drum work, a series of melodic charms, and a whiff of airy pads. Berlin's very own Mike Dehnert delivers two remixes of "Differences"; the first is full of bite, with simmering snares and a snaking baseline. The second is a taut and heavy affair, but also full of vigor.

The Israeli duo of Deep'a & Biri follows up releases on International Deejay Gigolos and their own Black Crow (BLACKCROW 001EP & 002EP) with Basement Cuts. Full of psychoactive tendencies and brimming with otherworldly sounds, it features the pair delving deep, displaying an obsessive eye for detail and unfurling an array of captivating sounds. Full of dreamy soundscapes and pulsating kicks, it plays out with some class. The Analogue Cops, the Italian duo of Lucretio and Marieu, delivers a fitting remix, full of the pair's trademark funk with a dollop of ominous tidbits, slowly progressing into an acid-led monster.

Jaunt Records is the new project from the team behind the Jaunt parties. For their first release, they call on two of their residents, Blackhall & Bookless, who bring the heat in their own inimitable way. The Se7en EP is a release that's every bit as refined as you'd hope for, while the remixes -- from Fred P aka Black Jazz Consortium and Ostgut Ton's always-reliable Virginia -- both neatly compliment the merits of the originals. With track-titles such as ''Kevin Spacey'' and ''Morgans Freeman," the release tips its hat to the movie Se7en -- and it's just as ominous and enticing, too.
