KHEMIA 019EP
|
In this, his inaugural release, LAW334 welcomes the listener to his musical language through four tracks. "Arco" and "Wire Hangers" are two synth dominated techno cuts that bookend a more experimental offering in Veils; an abstracted exercise in audio processing bassoon samples. In the closing track "Panspermia", Choronzon takes the wheel to LAW334's engines in an ecstatic trance through a distorted desert landscape.

Khemia Records first encountered DJ Varsovie back in 2018 when Guillaume Labadie proposed him as the remixer for Walpurgis Night on the I Hate Models Khemia release Midnight Cults (KHEMIA 010EP, 2018). So the dark love affair began and developed into an intoxicated obsession, the spores were planted in the dark substrata late at night and the mycelium thread led us to where you are now. The Monster devoured the Labyrinth. Remix by ABSL.

Hoarder is the latest project in a long line of collaborations between Andy Butler (Hercules & Love Affair) and multi-media artist Joie Iacono. Building a sonic world sourced from organic, electronic, and found sounds, the two have waded neck deep into noise-oriented, darker territories over the past three years in the studio. While the four tracks on this first EP with London-based Khemia Records definitely nod to '80s industrial and techno with Butler's knack for arrangement and tenure producing music and their combined years steeped in the culture, the EP feels inspired by the era rather than a straight homage.

Blind Delon was founded in 2016 by Mathis Kolkoz -- a French artist who draws his energy from cold wave and synth wave references channeled through the use of ancient synthesizers, icy bass lines, and black romanticism, all combined with a raw elegance and melancholy. Discipline -- Blind Delon's first album features a stunning sound design, laced with dark energy and a daring lyricism. The album, although written and composed by the band, is an all-star collaboration with Kris Baha, Lapse Of Reason, Incendie, I Hate Models, and others.

To celebrate the second anniversary of Khemia Records welcome back In Aeternam Vale, the legendary French artist. The tracks "Dave" and "Circles" form an elliptical conundrum composed of various references including Kubrick's alchemical allegory 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), (sampled in French) with its existential narrative of a schizophrenic artificial intelligence lurking in the shadows.

Inaugurating the New Magnus Opus series of limited edition vinyl EPs on Khemia Records are two producers at the vanguard of future techno, I Hate Models and Vittorio Di Mango. On the Lunar Side, Vittorio Di Mango present "Epilessia" aimed straight to the jugular, a peak-time dancefloor destroyer constructed with machine gun precision over crystalline snares and opiated vocal reverberations. Between them they form the Nigredo Edition.

Khemia Records present the fourth and final edition in their current series - the Winter Solstice Edition featuring Codex Empire and Marmo. On the Solar Side, British born, Vienna based, industrial techno pioneer Codex Empire delivers "Sevde", an experiment in long-form techno. A massive, propulsive beast, punctured with hammered rhythms and sub-aquatic bleeps, a maelstrom of whiplash cracks, disembodied voices and electrostatic, reverberating across an insistent techno groove. On the Lunar Side Marmo present "Alchimia" a conceptual, straight-forward, complex music sculpture. "Alchimia" unfolds an epic sonic journey across vast swathes of desert. Transparent vinyl; Edition of 333.

London-based label Khemia Records announces its second split release. "Emboli", on the Solar Side, is a track written by the enigmatic sound artist Rrose. Cascades of iridescent particles coruscate against the shadow of an ominous dirge, crashing into a wall of slurred rhythm that opens into a glacial abyss. "Aurora" on the Lunar side, is a work by venerable Canadian producers Orphx. Crepuscular, infrasonic hydro-acoustics submerge padding rhythms, emerging gradually through oscillations and the caustic snarl of static, into a mutant echo chamber of polyrhythmic hypnosis and fractal bleeps. Limited-edition clear 12".
