For his inaugural EP under new guise Yem Gel, NTS Manchester resident and visual artist Alecs Pierce comes through with a four-track cacophony of sounds for Kick + Clap. From previous experimental outings as Obsidian Pond, Gristed Petunia, and Handi Dogh, he returns with this new project based solely on electronic compositions, giving the multi-instrumentalist artist a chance to further explore his electronic leanings. The Yem Gel moniker seeks to live up to its name's reference to malleable "fictional future plastics" by offering a set of genre-spanning compositions, drawing from multiple influences from ambient, drum 'n' bass, or grime.

The Kick + Clap label, founded by Dave Maclean (Django Django), follows 2015 releases by UK rave legend Warlock (BEC 5156056) and Baltimore rapper Rye Rye produced by Bullion (BEC 5161939) with Tom Furse's Run to Me Suite. With one foot in Cologne and the other in Detroit, its precise machino-florescence, enamored with Kraftwerk, Juan Atkins, and Yello, underpins latent themes of love, machines, and obliteration. Following a stint on NTS Radio and remixes for the likes of Sébastien Tellier, Django Django, and Connan Mockasin, the Horrors-man-turned-solo-artist continues to maintain a frenetic work-rate with no concern for genre.

Ryeisha Berrain aka Rye Rye began performing at 16. After her 2006 club hit with Blaqstarr, "Shake It to the Ground," she collaborated with Diplo, Robyn, Toddla T, M.I.A., and more. Here, she jumps on a spidery beat from mercurial West London producer and Deek Recordings founder Nathan Jenkins aka Bullion. With a slew of releases on One-Handed Music, Bullion drew the attention of Young Turks, with whom he released You Drive Me to Plastic in 2011 (YT 046CD/LP), before delivering 2012's hypnotic Say Arr Ee on R&S. This release precedes his mini-album Rooster, co-released by Greco-Roman and Deek.

DJ/producer Warlock's mixtapes and radio show, on the now-legendary London pirate station Pulse FM, established his cult status as a stalwart of the early '90s UK dance scene. In the late '90s, Warlock released experimental techno on seminal labels Praxis and Spiral Tribe's Network23, before a stint as A&R at Kickin Records, where he nurtured releases from DJ Hell and Surgeon. In 2002, he launched his own label, Rag & Bone, providing an outlet for the emergent sounds of Aaron Spectre, King Cannibal, Kanji Kinetic, and Stagga. In November 2014, Warlock was voted one of FACT's most underrated DJs.
