[deleted] The second Futurism compilation from Kitty-Yo's sublabel KYO. At one and-a-half years old and with releases like White Hole's Pink Album and Autoreverse from The Tape vs. RQM, KYO is set to conquer the world. The advancement of KYO ushered in a whole biotope of alternative-abstract-electronica/advanced hip-hop which has flourished gleefully in all directions. Futurism Ain't Shit To Me 2 promises more extraordinary and convincing tracks from well known artists such as Slum Village, Prince Po, Sole and Quasimoto who are brought together with highly notable newcomers like Stacs Of Stamina and 8-Bit. Heroes and outriders meet subsequent generations, which kick hip-hop further. Previously released tracks meet previously unreleased tracks. U.S. hip-hop classics clash with the crème de la crème of Europe's underground. This compilation is kicking, rough and without blinders, but still holds plenty of flow.

[deleted] This is the second album from The Tape, who drafted the help of New York-spawned spoken word artist RQM for the use of live vocals. Out of the eclectic world of Robot Koch's beats and RQM's warm rhymes emerges this broad-stroke impression of contemporary electronic post hip-hop. Previously compared to artists such as Four Tet, DJ Shadow and Prefuse 73, the group weaves together punk, jazz, and electronic music into something completely new, with hip-hop and post-rock as a connecting element. Due to his work as a producer at Data MC (Hamton Recordings) Walera Goodman left The Tape but still contributes the track "Lonely Planet Revisited" to the new album. RQM, who has had mic sessions at the Brooklyn Moon Cafe and Nuyorican Poets Cafe, has also worked with producers such as Al Hacas Mmc (A Different Drummer), G Stone's Stereotyp and Klein's IWolf (Sofa Surfers). From Robot's rough post-hip-hop production to the subversive lyrics of RQM best exemplified on "Hip Hop Is Dead" or "Nuclear Sunset" to the warm soul/electronica of "Heaven," Autoreverse is free from self-reference -- revitalized and global.

[deleted] "A White Hole is the exit of a wormhole that connects two universes. The two universes of this record are being impersonated by Nicholas Bussmann and Hanno Leichtmann. Put simply, Bussmann is in charge of the serious elements of this duo, while Leichtmann is the pop bitch, or in the words of German magazine de:bug, 'the Cathérine Deneuve of electronica'. Both are longtime activists in the diverse music scenes of Berlin and have been working together for ten years in various formations, e.g. as Ich Schwitze Nie (with actor Lars Rudolph, known from 'Der Krieger und die Kaiserin' among others) or at the Berlin festival Maerzmusik with John Zorn in his composition 'Cobra'. Bussmann is playing together with Radian drummer Martin Brandlmayr in Kapital Band 1 (Mosz) and is working with the Japanese legend Toshi Nakamura, Leichtmann has interconnected all thinkable forms of pop music under his monikers Paloma (Mehrwert), Sam Miller (Mosz) and, most importantly, Static (Mermaid/Sonar Kollektiv, City Centre Offices). Until recently they also formed the duo DJ Attaché & The Beige Oscillator (Mehrwert, Charhizma). But since everyone always expected nothing but DJ sets from this name, they now got themselves a real band name: White Hole. They recorded their Pink album in Vienna, where Leichtmann had lived for two months in early 2004. Bussmann came to visit with a hard disk recording system in his pocket, and two weeks later the album was finished, including guest appearances by Viennese musicians Boris Hauf (saxophone) und Martin Siewert (guitar). The result is very clearly a HipHop album, in the end there's those bouncing beats all over the place ... but at the same time it's also a jazz album with its productive disharmonies and layered and disjointed sounds. The saxophone solo that -- reminding of free jazz -- violently disrupts the beat at one point is only the simplest example for that."
