"His unholy beats still stomp through weak standards. His tracks still cut in your head like a thousand knives through butter cream. His rusty sounds still scrape over the blackboard of life and still no-one's reached the mindbending peak of sweat and emotion, that this not-so-lonely wanderer from the Canadian woods calls his edge. Sid LeRock's bone-breaking funk knows more about euphoria than meets the eye, but also finds his way through dark and sad alleys of your mind. You might even call it precise pop, wouldn't it be for the good ole distortion pedal that reminds our hero of his origins and his goals: those sharp riffs, the rattling voices and dem waving booties. It's on purpose, that 'Fatal Distraction' feels like the secret center of the album and will be the first single taken to the crowd. Sulfuric voices and a stoic bass lurk in front of a guitar-driven wall-of-noise, that keeps the refrain from any indecision. The 12" comes with the brilliant RMX from Misc. (Sender Rec.)."

"Welcome to the world of Grom: nothing is clear here and nothing is simple. Every state has its price. One drags oneself from place to place. It is dark. Cold. Any infantile optimism is out of place. However: love is possible. Euphoria could be founded on something. It just needs the right foundations. Namely, ones that encompass the possibility of failure and allow scepticism. This music writhes in agony, looks for the place to jump. It's a universe consisting of scattered electro fragments. Heroin funk. Grom avoid straight lines. They prefer light dissonance, a little intervention, avoiding surety. This ambivalence also leaves its mark on the CD title Sadness Sells. Here anti-theses are stirred up, set against each other, and watched with sparkling children's eyes to see what will be left at the end. Grom are still iconoclasts. They wear martial catsuits and take into account the provocation beyond the intentional statement. They don't even bother to try to control what they can't control: what their audience associates with it all."

"Suguru Kusumi creates his music with a 16TR sequencer and the aid of floppy disks. The shellac of the computer scene. In this way, the charm of 'kids playing football on the lawn across the road', as one can hear on Suguru's first album, remains. 'A premise for my recordings is to keep things as economical as possible without accepting any loss in sound.' Poverty as an instrument?"

"The most true truth is short and brief, kicking and catchy. That´s what Sand11 is about. Being precise and offensive within the range of a minimalistic, cybertronic crossover between funky low-end house and the endless world of dub. Jimi Siebels (one half of Egoexpress (Ladomat2000/ recent singles 'Weiter' & 'Here comes the night', recent album Bieker)) and Pascal Fuhlbruegge (founding member of 'Kolossale Jugend' and L´Age D´or the label) are on the way to the horizon of bass, hi-hat and voice, only sparsely using more ingredients besides that. Resulting from this Sand11, their second longplayer, has become a collection of most-pushing, funky tunes that will lighten up one´s life, ending in 'Drinks with umbrellas', a duet between Peta Devlin (Die Braut haut ins Auge) and Frank Spilker (Die Sterne)."

"Egoexpress has been a Ladomat band since the first hour. Together with Whirlpool Productions they were one of the first Ladomat signings. Their 1995 album Foxy enabled them to lead a musical revolution in German house music. With Telefunken they secured themselves a firm position at the spearhead of the house scene and won themselves international acclaim. Their unique rave concept made their sound hit the nail on the head and got he party burning through the house clubs in Frankfurt, Zurich, and Barcelona. Now they've finally released their long-awaited second album Bieker. A grinding, siren-howling, backspinnin' collection of effects, endlessly kicking electro smut somewhere between Schorsch-Kamerun/Theo-Parrish-reduction and Mike Ink-acid-incantation. Naive, shattered, overladen, realistic, disturbed, and blended."

"Lars Bulnheim, Pascal Fuhlbrugge, and Jimi Siebels likely aren't names you can easily place, but if there's any justice in the musical community, Sand 11 -- the name of their band -- should soon be burned into your synapses. Why? Well, we've suffered through far too many bands in this age of electronica that have simply been faking the funk. Probably most to blame is the lack of melodies in much electronic music. No, you shouldn't have to be a trained musician to succeed in 1999, but you should know how to craft a true song. Sand 11 succeed admirably here on their Around The Day In A World album. The first single, last year's 'Under The Influence', put them firmly in with Beanfield, the Compost label, and others of that ilk who manage to meld the electronic and the acoustic for a deliciously organic result. What we get are downtempo gems like 'Reculer (Pour Mieux Sauter)' that drift and flow perfectly for summer, uptempo numbers like 'Outdoor Disco' that will put a saucy shimmer in any house set, and tracks like 'Under The Influence' where the tempo shifts gears with precision from a headnodding to hip swinging pace in a matter of bars. Sometimes spicy with Latin percussion, sometimes just content to strut, this is a fine piece of work."

Another fine quality addition to Ladomat's roster (following recent releases by the likes of Turner, Sensorama, Forever Sweet, etc.) Elegant house with pop leanings. "Hans Nieswandt has been making music since the late 1980s. As DJ, journalist and member of Whirlpool Productions. Nieswandt is well-known and there should be no club in Germany that he hasn't played in. Later as 'Jack of all Trades" pop star and head of the trinity that is Whirlpool Productions, he has not only given us joy in the form of 'From: Disco To: Disco' but has also simultaneously won all kind of (Olympic) Games, hasn't he? Lazer Musik is a leisure dome, a panopticum of 'H-Musik' (who's nothing but 'Hans Musik'), because 'Lazer' means leisure and is also a gamble with meanings. There are many ways but never pretend to know the right one. 'Freaks, I see life' -- it echoes towards us when Hans Nieswandt sharpens his sight. 'The house next door' does not always have to be the club around the corner and pop ballads are not necessarily evil. No, it's not over yet, it has only just begun. Lazer Musik is art, a grown necessity. It is also this way with records that draw their strength from fragments of history."

"Full length setting dated 1998 from the duo of Jörn Elling Wutke & Roman Flügel, the presumed follow-up to their all-star remix selection, Zu Gast Auf Der Welcome Insel. A fine vocoder-travelogue presented in ideal post-haze sequence. Inside & in-the-pocket, seemingly transparent waves of sound. So damn pleasant it kills you flat out. Superior." -- Hrvatski. Turner is Keni Mok, and this is his debut solo album. Further extrapolations of lush Burger/Ink clankage territories make this a most interesting addition to the contemporary German shelf. Don't be thrown off by his taste in hats. "Welcome to Ladomat. Here hs is responsible for the paper patterns of electro-acoustic pop music that hasn't been pinned yet. A wizard who can turn sugary-sweet tunes and carefully thought out arrangements intowhit rabbits and can pull dazzling analogue sounds and soundtrack-compatible samples out of a hat."
