Listening to Linja's debut LP makes one think of Polish director Yuri Norstein's gloomy melancholic (yet playful) movies, or perhaps just of a rainy day, or Chopin. Velvet Noise is a collection of seven experimental pieces made by Linja sometime around 2016-2017, using drum ma- chines and a lot of modular synthesizers. The album is woven with simple melodies that crack through the squeaks and the bleeps, eerie pads that fill the voids all sorts of FX. The atmosphere becomes filled with tension when it is playing in the room, as if something is clearly about to happen. Linja's album is not so easy to describe, and yet due to its coherence and storytelling it has a certain feel and personality of a good book rather than just a record. "It transcends its existence as a record." Features MY and DJ Tinder.

After releasing their critically acclaimed debut LP NOW (MALKA 007LP) in September of 2019, the people at Malka Tuti felt it was the time to continue pushing the name Shari Vari to new realms and territories... A remix pack was born. For the remix pack, Malka Tuti chose a few close friends of the family to give new life and new interpretations to the now "instant classic" songs by the Hamburg duo... The EP begins with Fantastic Twins's mid-tempo, Coil-inspired, break-beat groove, slowly building up in emotion with warm pads and '90s vibe acid lines towards an epic catharsis. Benedikt Frey takes it from there, remixing a personal favorite -- New York City, turning it into a dark trip-hop inspired journey, cleaning those distinct vocals, echoing Beth Gibbons's smokey high tones... On the B-side, you find Black Merlin's 11-minute trippy mid-tempo dancefloor banger. Cuts and slices from the original vocals of the song "Dance Alone", laid carefully on top of a repetitive modular bass line, and sprinkled on top -- those out-worldly sounds and FX that makes the track simply huge. Last but not least, Düsseldorf's very own Lucas Croon's Dub Version, released digitally in 2019, finally sees its day on wax. '90s break beat beats, gated vocals and everything else that takes to make a dancefloor hit the roof.

After the major success of Part 1 (MALKA 005A-LP, Cosmo Vitelli and Malka Tuti are presenting Holiday In Panikstrasse Part 2, the second and final part of Cosmo's release on the label. After collaborating with Fantastic Twins on Part 1, the amazing Julienne Dessagne's vocals are back on Part 2 as well for the opening track "Fragments of Reality". Another collaboration on the record is with Croatian singer and vocalist Tanja Vezic, who collaborated with Cosmo on his Les Disque De La Mort release, and who gives a cinematic sort of feeling to the track "Party Old Boy". With "He Just Wanted To Hang Out With The DJs", Cosmo creates a slow burning dark banger that will not go unnoticed. The final track "Irritable" is the perfect mixture between German krautrock heritage and the French disco-synth touch of the '80s -- emotional, growing, and cathartic, one cannot stay indifferent to it. Mastered by Gordon Pohl.

Die Orangen is back on the adventurous Malka Tuti with their sophomore album, Zwei Orangen. It's been two years since their debut album Zest animated the underground scene, merging obscure samples, field recordings, krautrock motifs, and a spattering of humor and self-perception into their newly forged genre: krautback. The Australian duo -- Kris Baha and Dreems -- return with two more years of wisdom tucked under their hats to deliver a matured, developed sound. The industrial sonics and propensity for a dusty bush-beaten tone remain, however the samples and ambience take a backseat, handing the map over to the guitar riffs, vocals, and song writing to navigate the albums vast terrain. Collaborators Jono Ma (of Jagwar Ma), Alex Akers (of Forces), and Hayley Morgan expand the album into a diverse journey across zones and styles, offering their own observation of the spacious musical world of Die Orangen. These 11 tracks will make you contemplate, they'll will make you reminisce, they'll give you friendly advice, they'll ask you to dance, and they'll question the direction of your compass... Fear not, however, this is music for everybody. As the Oranges say "Saft für alle".

Shari Vari, is a Hamburg based duo comprising of Sophia Kennedy and Helena Ratka. Sophia Kennedy's name might ring a bell to "professional" and unprofessional audience: The Baltimore born and Hamburg bred luminary released her self-titled debut record to quite some critical acclaim on DJ Koze's Pampa Records in 2017, a record that was voted amongst the 20 best electronic records of that year by Pitchfork. Shari Vari are everything you didn't know you were missing in your life. Their lyrics are fresh, funny and "out-there", their melodies are catchy and their rhythms are groovy as hell. Their debut LP on Malka Tuti titled NOW is a collection of eight songs, groovy, gloomy, cheerful, and contemplative, mixed all together in mish-mash of genres and influences. Whether they are echoing Suicide's Alan Vega in songs such as "Out of Order" or "Dance Alone", or telling a story laid over an almost exotic dubby beat in "Jungle", their debut album throws the listener back to the days when having all the music in the world in the palm of your hand was a distant dream, and one would simply listen over and over again to their favorite CD on their Sony (or Panasonic?) disc-player until every note and every word in the lyrics is etched to their memory... 180 gram vinyl.

Kapitan is Dori Sadovnik, half of the groundbreaking dancefloor-scorching duo Red Axes. In his debut solo LP Alaska, Kapitan takes you on a journey into the deepest realms of his inner psyche. Through his modular synth experimentations, his analog approach for synthesis and organic instruments, he has created an LP that is both personal and outgoing, both fresh and nostalgic at the same time. Weaving samples from his non-stop traveling schedule as half of one of today's top dance acts, playing guitars, drum machines, and synthesizers, the album feels contemporary and timeless, like it could have been written at any time in the past 30 years and still feel relevant than ever, echoing Mort Garson's modular experimentations as well as early Air music.

Cosmo Vitelli hasn't slept since 1973. Instead, he's replaced slumber with the tireless exploration of electronic music, sharing his finds as an accomplished DJ and label manager as well as an esteemed producer, with heaps of records, remixes, and edits under his belt. With his upcoming two-part LP release on Malka Tuti, Cosmo brings forward his more diverse and somehow mature musical side, combining elements of post-punk, krautrock, electronica, and pop on this first of two four-track records. The songs on the LP transcend style and genre. They manage to hold and playfully sustain an idea that echoes throughout them all -- a musical "saying" as well as a personal life experience, and they reflect Cosmo's prolific studio work of the past two years since he moved to Berlin. On the opening song "A Brand New City" he collaborates with longtime friend Julienne Dessagne (aka Fantastic Twins). Dessagne's vocals cut through the quirky and addictive percussion groove and synth sequence, leading to a strong emotional melancholic melodic catharsis. On the following two songs, "Groupe Surdose" and "Die Alraune", you'll find Cosmo collaborating with Sebastian Lee Philipp (of Die Wilde Jagd fame) to show his more post-rock/krautrock side. "Groupe Surdose" is an instant classic slow burning dance floor krautrock tune while in "Die Alruane" you find poetic German lyrics sung by Lee-Philipp on top of organic grooves, guitars, and an epic saxophone line that together create a distinctive highlight for the record. The closing track "Kuldip" is the curve ball of them all, sealing the first part of his album with a Mediterranean mid-tempo dance tune for the selectors and the Middle-Eastern inspired electro aficionados. 180 gram vinyl.

Tapan present their first release since their debut album Europa (MALKA 002LP, 2018). They show their "dancier" side with two cuts: "The Beast" (featuring Serbian musician Jan Nemecek) and "Ghana". Perhaps industrial-inspired, tribal-trance is the closest description, and yet somehow after listening to the tracks it feels like trying to put it in "a box" just don't do justice. Both tracks are remixed by Russian duo Odopt who deliver an out-worldly IDM monster of a remix to "The Beast", and Italian-Belgian duo Front De Cadeaux make "Ghana" even slower, adding more percussive grooves.

Die Orangen (aka Dreems and Kris Baha) are back on Malka Tuti with the second installment of their Saft series. Saft 2 presents two tracks. On the A-side you can find an epic Goa-leaning version of the now-classic "Yaranabe" track off their debut LP Zest (2017), by non-other than Full Circle, aka Joakim and Alexis Le Tan. On the B-side is a new Die Orangen track. A 15-minute journey through sonic spaces, ancient futures, and alternative dimensions. Although sonically the track screams Industrial, with a closer listen, Die Orangen managed to use a vast pallet of sounds, ideas, and magic.

Decha is Viktoria Wehrmeister, and Viktoria Wehrmeister is Decha. Viktoria is by now known in some circles as the frontwoman of the duo Toresch (alongside Tolouse Low Trax and Jan Wagner). Under the name Toresch, they have released two critically acclaimed records on Vladimir Ivkovic's label Offen which brought forward the fusion between TLT's abstract raw, industrial yet sexy beats and Viktoria's dadaist vocals. On Hielo Boca, her debut solo album under the alias of Decha, Viktoria presents nine songs, a more personal, and more abstract (yet always playful) approach to her art than that heard on the Toresch records. Hielo Boca is a record that is both enchanting in its minimalism and yet still manages to pour out Viktoria's exploding creativity, each song in its own way. 180 gram vinyl, includes insert.

Malka Tuti are releasing Khidja Si Balabas, a mega four-tracker by Khidja, in collaboration with their old time friend from back home Mihai Balabas. The four different tracks were written over the past few years, slowly plotted produced and perfected, each in its own twisted direction. There are no dancefloor killers here, but instead four very unique voyages, experimental sonic excursions in time and space. It was the track "Chloe" that caught the attention, back in 2015. It's not a typical Khidja track, but the musicality and the composition in it reminded us of lost Balearic moments. It made for reminiscing on summery Sunday mornings back when life was still a bit more innocent, and naive. Out of that infatuation came the idea of "sitting on it" until the right tracks will be ready, and here they are, more than three years later.

Spectral Empire are George Thompson (aka Black Merlin/Karamika) and Kyle Martin (Vactrol Park/Land of Light). With the release of Iron Muscle, they are celebrating ten years since their debut. They've used every home appliance and improvised noise they could find for the title track. Anything from kitchen drawers to DVD's and cutlery was sampled and then drenched in effects and manipulated in order to create what came out as a cinematic futuristic piece to dive into again and again, a soundtrack for an unwritten sci-fi movie, or just a dramatic soundtrack for your everyday lives. Includes Die Wilde Jagd remix.

Plazmot is Yovav and Assaf Bloom. On the A-side you will find "Orot Levanim" ("White Strobes in Hebrew"), a mid-tempo new wave synth-pop song in Hebrew, layered on funky drum machines, guitar riffs, and melodies that more than refer to the British synth-pop of the late '70s and early '80s but with a visible Mediterranean DIY touch. The B-side is "Allenby", named after a key axis in Tel-Aviv's nightlife. "Allenby" is what techno in Tel Aviv in 2018 is: a crossbreed of Red Axes and Carl Craig. Comes with sticker sheet for DIY outer sleeve.

Following their debut album Zest (2017), Die Orangen (aka Dreems and Kris Baha) are back with a new EP on Israel's Malka Tuti. The first part consists of a new version of "Yaranabe", recorded in session as part of their live act, while the second is Tapan's remix of "Metal Man". Tapan's first track to be made after finishing their debut, it's an interesting evolution of their sound, slow, dark, and punchy, yet also a track for the later hours. On the B side lies Gordon Pohl's re-imagination of "Mersey River" (aka "the Platypus track").

Only one month after the release of their first EP on Malka Tuti in May 2018 (MALKA 017EP), Vactrol Park continue surprising, this time with a full LP in the shape of Music From The Luminous Void. The album sees Vactrol Park delve much deeper into more atmospheric realms. Using modular synths and unexpected drum machine sequencing they leave the 4X4 beats behind in favor of off-world rhythms and ever-growing bass. Starting with the high frequency tension of "Drop", laying on top of those heavy kick drums it keeps on growing and growing. From there it moves to the "End Of The Party" groove that is "Novikov's Notation", and its trippy monotonic rhythm. The A-side ends with the heavy sampled ambient track "Macbeth", bringing forward that mesmerizing flute solo by Italian artist Luca Spagnoletti yet succeeding in avoiding the kitsch, and with a touch of class. The B-side delves even deeper into ambience and atmospheric muzak. Starting with "Bells", that features again Spagnoletti on flute. Then you get into the real gems of the album -- "Anstruther" and "Glove". The first is a pure trip into modular psychedelia and repetitive jazzy-like drum rhythms, creating tension right from the start and plays with it throughout the track before decaying slowly into "Glove", which is in sense both the catharsis and the decompression session of the album. Like a 2018 version of Vangelis, this track's soundscape will keep you dreaming with your eyes closed long after the album ends. Vactrol Park is Guido Zen and Kyle Martin.

2018 is going to see the bond between Khidja and Malka Tuti strengthen, with the Romanian duo bringing forward their eclectic, cross-genre approach to electronic music in the shape of two full releases as well as several remixes. "Plot" and "Am I Really Here" are two dancefloor bangers, not hiding behind fashions and hype, the duo is pushing forward on both tracks, each with its own idea and story to tell. This one continues Malka Tuti's 12" dance series perfectly, with both tracks being pressed on 45rpm and getting each its own side. 180 gram vinyl.

This double-LP, Europa, is dedicated to and inspired by events in 2015 and 2016, which saw the specter of global crisis come knocking at Europe's doorstep. During this time, more than a million migrants and refugees fled their homes in the Middle East, Northern Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, and other conflict ravaged areas in search of a better life. For many, hopes of a future for themselves and their families lay in continental Europe. As already said about the preceding 12" single with the same name (MALKA 014EP), one of the most well-trodden paths on this journey was the Balkan route, a trail leading through Turkey, Greece, and the former Yugoslavia. This route was not without its dangers, and the dreams of thousands upon thousands were dashed by impassible security fences and discordant EU politics, as one by one they were turned away at borders, or worse, forcibly returned to their countries of origin. Europa was recorded during long jam sessions in Belgrade as the media spotlight started to dim. The city became the purgatorial destination for a large number of migrants, whose journeys had been cut short. This double LP reflects the atmosphere of disillusionment and uncertainty about the future, which descended on the Serbian capital. Dark and melancholic saxophone playing on top of heavy kicks and Mediterranean percussions dominate the epic, 17-minute title track. The collaboration with Jerusalem In My Heart (Radwan Ghazi Moumneh) continues the melancholic atmosphere, adding JIMH's signature delayed bağlama sounds, to create a 12-minute emotional journey, tearing away abstract concepts of "longing" and "home" with ever growing tension and magnitude. Genre-less, illusive and not easy to categorize, Tapan's debut album on Malka Tuti is an original soundtrack of a fragment in time and space, capturing a moment and transcending it musically for the rest of the world to experience. The first LP is one-sided; side B is silkscreened. Comes in a black-on-black cover, including an insert riso-printed photo.
