MEMO 010EP

Cormac's DJ skills have become legendary over in the UK, and he has taken these talents on tour to almost all the world's best known clubs. These tracks are contrasting yet coherent, and 100% dancefloor compatible. "Merlin" is a straight-up stomper featuring Deepgroove, with a banging beat and hefty bass. It rumbles along at mid-tempo, but has some serious drive behind it. "Wait" juggles a subtle, melancholy piano line with some implied house accents. Also includes a remix by Thomas Muller.

Memo welcomes Stathis Kalatzis aka Mr. Statik, who pumps new energy into minimal with his artificial and upright house constructs. "Smoothest Cat On The Block!" features a jazz organ, flamenco guitar samples, and spaghetti Western sentiments. "A Cradle Of Smiles" serves up minimal house with dub, while "Dubbinezon" surges in realms of fluttery echoes and tape delays. Finally, "Poops, I Dit It Again" pushes relentlessly further, shrouded in murky delay that allows every tonal detail to shine brighter.

Mark Broom updates the synth-drenched techno-firework "Twenty Nine" along with another remixer, Mihalis Safras. Broom's own "09 Mix" disposes of all of the stomping qualities of the original, embedding it instead with a longing synth-line and new vocals on a finely-linked, twisted tom groove. Mihalis Safras' remix is a bit more straight-forward but just as dark, allowing the bass-line to simmer, while the vocals swim in a sea of white noise against a spine-tingling synth. A high-class minimal techno trip.
