[deleted] Mitek celebrates their five years of existence with a unique retrospective compilation: 2000-2005 over 2 CDs for the price of 1. A stable of compelling and internationally-renowned artists take on the Mitek catalog -- after 5 years and 20 releases, 27 artists and 28 tracks do their own personal reinterpretations, ranging from minimal soundscapes via electronica to club tracks, taking snippets here and there, creating a new and fresh take on the older material. Son Of Clay creates a low-key and beautiful piece out of Mikael Stavöstrand, Jeff Milligan composes a minimal and fluffy rework of Son Of Clay, and Midaircondo presents a stunning take on Sophie Rimheden and so on. Each track presents a different approach in style and method, providing a really good overview of what is going on at the moment in international and experimental electronic music, with artists from Sweden, Norway, Iceland, England, Denmark, Germany, England, Mexico, Canada and the United States.

[deleted] This is the second album from relative newcomer Folie, aka Stefan Thor, resident of Hässleholm in south Sweden, a town which also brought forth similarly melodic minimal electronic artists such as Sophie Rimheden and Andreas Tilliander. Thor's debut album Misspass received enthusiastic reviews in the international press; German magazine de:bug rated Misspass the second best album of 2002, and declared him artist of the month. The highly-anticipated Eyepennies will leave no one disappointed, as it delivers 12 stunning tracks of swirling electronica with undeniable pop appeal. Eyepennies furthers Folie's music as harmonic but not too sweet, with clever beats and funky, shifting basslines that are surprisingly deft and delicate, taking you on a trip into the melancholic soundscape of south Sweden, where Thor has been developing his unique sound over the years. His slightly surreal constructions of slanted melodies, groovy little beats and laid-back harmonies create a flow for easy afternoons as well as for sweaty clubs, where his intense and freaky live shows leave the audience screaming for more.

[deleted] Two Abstract Paintings is the third full-length album by Berlin-based Son Of Clay (Andreas Bertilsson). Belonging to the "southern" Swedish electronica scene, associated with names such as Andreas Tilliander, Hans Appelqvist and the Komplott label, Bertilsson's artistic work and musical production reveals a profound interest in the morphology of sound. Bertilsson blends traditional musique concrète brush-strokes with liberal use of clicks 'n cuts, minimalism and isolationism and has been compared to electronica giants such as Fennesz and Oval as well as the synth-driven Talk Talk. The album consists of a 46-minute piece divided into two parts. The piece is a poetic soundscape, carefully constructed of microscopic found-sounds comprised of dry leaves, bits of wood, paper and dust -- things that can hardly be called things, mere particles of matter, most of them on the verge of falling apart. Bertilsson transforms matter into material, treating each of his recordings with utmost care and minutely crafting them into a vibrant mesh -- a still-life that is by no means still, an anthology of very small things that is alive with crackling, sparkling, shimmering beauty. As a visual counterpoint, the booklet holds a collection of twenty black and white photograms, portraits of the very same bits and pieces that the music is made of -- twenty individual bits of dust, singled out against nothingness, their shadows frozen into paper by means of 0.8 seconds of light.

[deleted] This is Swedish minimal techno artist Johan Skugge's second full-length album under his own name. Containing ten vocal and instrumental tracks, including two tracks featuring vocalist Laura Delicata, this album reveals Skugge's ambition to examine and elaborate the intricacies of the club music genre as it hedges towards the borderlands of tech-house with a disco twist. The result is a well-produced and coherent album, yet full of curious turns and unexpected creative elements. Musically, Volume connects to well-known and classic genre experiments such as Thomas Brinkmann's project Soul Centre and Vladislav Delay's Luomo, while still remaining true to it's distinctive anti-traditionalism, which is also sustained by Delicata's peculiar and beautiful voice. His prior release Objects and Buildings established him at the zenith of the Swedish minimal techno scene associated with internationally renowned Swedish artists such as Andreas Tilliander and Mikael Stavöstrand. Skugge also has a thick list of collaborations within the Swedish experimental
techno/art/experimental music scene. In addition, Skugge was a member of Swedish rock bands Yvonne, Rockmonster and Harlem before he started to focus on his solo music.

[deleted] Remixes of Swedish electro-pop star Sophie Rimheden's highly-acclaimed debut album Hi-Fi. Featuring work from international artists such as Hundarna Frän Söder's melancholic club remix of "In Your Mind;" Static, with his jittery '60s-electro-fusion "Static remix;" Fenin's dub tech "Sunny Side Up remix;" Dwayne Sodahberk's sweet Latin- influenced "Flower;" Mikael Stavöstrand's minimal and groovy "FiFI remix;" and the duo Puss' contribution of their uptempo Gameboy rave mix of "Strange." Other artists include Pavan, Hakan Lidbo, Folie, Son of Clay, Johan Skugge, and Sam Miller. All artists use the sweet (and twisted) sounds of Sophie, adding their own unique touch to her synthy brand of clear-as-a-bell dance pop.

"Mitek is proud to present an other excellent electronica artist from the hotbed of Hässlehom (south of Sweden), the town who also brought us Andreas Tilliander. Folie is electronica mastermind Stefan Thor, he brings us 12 chilling tracks of cut/up beats, swirling melodies and harmonic washes of 'noise'. All together makes this work to stand out with it's warm and harmonic textures. Folie has also just been signed to Swedish techhouse guru Håkan Lidbo's publishing company (container) to bring him more fame and glory."

"Andreas Berthling, also is part of the new Swedish digital artists scene. He holds majors in intermedia arts at the Arts Academy of Trondheim, Norway. Berthling is working with longtime electronic music experimentalist Kim Cascone, who also released on Fällt and other musicians such as John Butcher, Kaffe Matthews, Leif Brush, Toshimaru Nakamura, TV Pow, Sony Mao, Needle, Spunk. He developed a quite unique style focusing on the exploration of the soundsample in disregard to its source. Soundbytes are cracked down until only single bits remain. Their arrangements invoke the impression of reengineered data structure rendered audible in a sonic range between super high and ultra low sinewaves. Documentations can be found on Staalplaat, Boxmedia, Microwave, Anechoic, Betabodega, Fällt."
