Reprint of revised third edition from 2014. Dimensions: 23.3 x 2.8 x 15.3 cm. Paperback, 480 pages. View from a Hill is the story of Mark Burgess, singer and founding member of legendary Manchester cult heroes The Chameleons. Mark takes us through four decades of pop culture as he charts The Chameleons' development, as well as their cruel treatment at the hands of a corrupt music industry. Amidst intrigue in the Middle East, expeditions in search of the Loch Ness Monster, and acid trips that inspired the band's language and sound, there are countless music industry anecdotes that will make your jaw drop. Moving and hilarious by turns, View from a Hill is a highly entertaining rollercoaster ride of a rock memoir. Previously only published in very limited print runs in 2010, this edition of Mark's autobiography represents the definitive version of the work. Completely revised and augmented by a full discography, Chameleons family tree, and an introduction by Karren Ablaze!, this book is a must for Chameleons fans everywhere.

ABLAZE 011

The Ablaze! fanzine relaunches with its first issue since 1993. Ablaze! operated in Leeds and Manchester between 1987 and 1993, and made an impact on the UK's healthy fanzine scene by being bigger, more colorful, and cheekier than its peers. In 2015, editor Karren Ablaze! is sufficiently inspired by what's going on musically to bring back Ablaze! as a real live paper magazine. This special relaunch edition includes features on Sleaford Mods (cover stars), Viv Albertine (The Slits), The Chills, Peaches, Jeffrey Lewis, Conrad Keely (...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead), Lætitia Sadier (Stereolab), Katie Harkin (Sky Larkin, Sleater-Kinney), Slum of Legs, Esper Scout, Trepàt, Hysterical Injury, The Dismemberment Plan, Cowtown, and Joanna Gruesome. Plus: indie music in India, Barcelona scene report, DIY versus austerity, riot grrrl and spirituality, record reviews, book reviews, live reviews, and more.
