Already the most forward-thinking music project ever to hit the island of Ibiza, Channel Zoo was initially an event offering a variety of cutting-edge new sounds, provided by the unrivalled underground house and techno record labels of the future. With rapid development from Ibiza into hosting Channel Zoo events at the most prominent clubs around Europe featuring only the best artists, it was only a matter of time before a serious imprint was established and a compilation was compiled to reflect both the sound of the label and events taking place. Channel Zoo Recordings showcases and pushes future artists that are keeping music real and fresh without any hype or marketing gimmicks. This compilation by Michael James (recorded live at Channel Zoo Closing 2012) is indicative of the sound and vibe all those that have been regularly attending have come to know and love from Channel Zoo. Featuring tracks from artists such as Traumprinz, Kerri Chandler, Axel Boman, Fresh And Low in tandem with exclusive new music from Youandewan, Dana Ruh, and Michael James, it's been well worth the wait but Moon Harbour is proud to finally present their first Compilation 001. Other artists include: Herb LP w/Matt Flores, Undercover Agency, Leif, Azuni, Stratosphere, Demarkus Lewis, Eddie S, Brawther, and MLIU.

Greece-born Kostas Tassopoulos aka Ekkohaus presents his debut album for Moon Harbour. Entitled Noschool, it is the culmination of a close relationship between the Berlin-based artist and the music label Moon Harbour Recordings from Leipzig. It dates back to 2008 and has seen Ekkohaus explore his trademark and very modern take on rich house over a number of regular releases at the sister label Cargo Edition. It was in the mid-'90s that Ekkohaus first started making music, but not until 2005 that he unleashed his debut release. Since then he has worked with labels like 2020Vision, Tsuba, and Mule and has taken his live show to lauded clubs like Fabric (London), Watergate (Berlin), Space (Ibiza), and many more. His debut album is a collection of new material from 2010 to 2012 and is titled as an anti-statement to the tiring old school/new school debates that rule the electronic community. Noschool is about bridging the space in between the two well-respected schools, he says. "For this project, I have used all possible means of production: analog drum machines alongside with VST plug-ins, modular synths with Audio Units, original recordings as well as sample libraries. From the bass lines to the sax lines, from the Rhodes phrases to the house beat, I hope there is something in there for everyone." The resulting 13 track album is one that explores the Greek's signature sound -- warm 4/4 beats, involving bass and cute sampling -- but also leans on a whole lifetime of influence from jazz to funk, hip-hop to dub to disco. Though offering plenty of dancefloor dynamite along the way, Noschool also stands up to home listening or Sunday driving sessions. The album features a number of exciting collaborations including Robert Würz on saxophone, Jon J-Lab playing bass on "Reparations" and Lady Blacktronika singing on "Chasing Brown." As well as this, field recordings from Barcelona, Athens and Istanbul add an organic and real world element to the album from start to finish. From the romantic jazz-house vibes of the opener "A Drive" to more propulsive but equally deep house cuts like "Reparations," each track tells a story. Cuts like "Keep Your Eyes on Me" are loose and freeform, vintage-sounding yet forward-facing, where "Buzzin Fly" works on both your head and heel with its contrasting textures and lush melodies.

This is the fourth volume of Moon Harbour's Inhouse label compilation series. In accordance with the tried-and-tested concept, this release also showcases the work of current Moon Harbour artists. In addition to exclusive tracks by Matthias Tanzmann, Luna City Express, Dan Drastic, Ekkohaus, Martinez, Italoboyz, Andy Catana and Blind Minded, special guests like Reboot, Guido Schneider, Boris Werner and tINI & Marc Antona are also represented on this compilation. The list of artists clearly demonstrates that Moon Harbour has developed into a label with international scope and appeal. This sampler was compiled and mixed by Dan Drastic, who has been part of Moon Harbour's artist roster for more than seven years. He regularly hosts the Moon Harbour Nights at the Leipzig club Distillery and is one of the most active Moon Harbour DJs, together with Matthias Tanzmann and Luna City Express. The musical styles on Moon Harbour Inhouse Vol. 4 range from the deep house of Luna City Express and Ekkohaus to the reduced groovy tech house á la tINI & Marc Antona, Andy Catana and Boris Werner and the floor-fillers by Reboot and Dan Drastic. In this sense, the selection of tracks mirrors the current breadth of styles represented by the label in its 12th year. Since the third Inhouse compilation, a lot has happened at Moon Harbour. In addition to the releases of the albums Hello from Planet Earth by Luna City Express (2009) and Paradigm Shift by Martinez (2010), the 10th anniversary of the label was celebrated with gusto in 2010, complete with the compilation and club tour, Ten Years of Moon Harbour. The year 2010 also marked the birth of the monthly Moon Harbour Radio Show. Luna City Express and Dan Drastic have been taking turns producing this show, which has already had more than 25 editions. The year 2011 marked another special occasion: sister label Cargo Edition celebrated its fifth anniversary with the compilation Five Years of Cargo Edition. In the summer of 2011, Moon Harbour released the compilation CD Circoloco @ DC10 Ibiza - the Next Level, mixed by Matthias Tanzmann and Davide Squillace. To celebrate the release of Moon Harbour Inhouse Vol. 4, there will be numerous record release showcases.

It's now been a decade since, on the eve of the new millennium, Matthias Tanzmann and André Quaas decided to start their own label Moon Harbour Recordings. Originally intended as an outlet to release the music of Matthias Tanzmann and his Gamat 3000 project, as well as tracks from his colleague Marlow, Moon Harbour quickly made its name in the electronic music scene and thus the label opened its doors to other artists like Vincenzo, Krüger & Manowski, Daniel Stefanik, Håkan Lidbo and Goldfisch & Der Dulz. In 2005, the Berlin-based duo Luna City Express started working with the label and joined the Moon Harbour Family. Matthias Tanzmann then founded the sister label Cargo Edition in order to broaden the stylistic spectrum of Moon Harbour. Since then, Cargo Edition has developed into an independent platform with its own style, predominantly driven by the label's established and illustrious stock of artists, including Michael Melchner, Vera Heindel, Ekkohaus, Sven Tasnadi, Markus Schatz and Juno6. In 2008, two new artists joined the Moon Harbour family and have become permanent members of the label's roster: Martinez from Copenhagen and Dan Drastic from Leipzig. Last but not least, Berliner Chris Lattner started to work for Moon Harbour both as a musician and as a host of the monthly Moon Harbour Radio Show, which he produces with Dan Drastic. In addition to new artists, releases from guest artists like Gregor Tresher, Santos and Arado & Marco Faraones have reinforced the label's reputation. Not content to just make the records, Moon Harbour showcases have become renowned for building great parties with excellent music, provided by DJs who are part of a musical family. Ten Years Of Moon Harbour features a disc of ten exclusive tracks, plus a bonus CD of Moon Harbour essentials mixed by Tanzmann. Other artists on this compilation include Boris Werner, Simon Flower, Krüger & Manowski, Peter Dildo,Leif & Tom Ellis, Michal Ho, Lil' Dirty, Audio Werner, Johnny D, Seuil, Samim, Agnès and Luna City Express (feat. Sigrid Elliot).

This is the third album by Denmark's Martinez. Throughout his career Martin Schwanstein aka Martinez has experienced quite a few musical paradigm shifts. And he is certainly not the only one in the techno scene who has done so. Many of his fellow musicians also started, over time, focusing more on certain forms of techno and house music. In the case of Martinez, it was a shift from deep house to minimal techno and finally to his current dancefloor house sound; however, you never get the feeling that Martinez is just jumping on the bandwagon. When his first record, Momomowha, was released on Moon Harbour in 2008, the house revival had just started, and Martinez instantly managed to establish his own little niche. After 3 EPs and a co-production with label boss Matthias Tanzmann, Martinez has established himself on the label's roster of musicians and represents Moon Harbour at label parties all over the world. When you see Martinez DJ, his many years of experience become obvious -- he simply knows how to set a club on fire. The Paradigm Shift is unique in having mastered the balancing act between dancefloor rhythm and home-listening quality. His organic sound combines all elements such as dense beats and jazzy chords so well, the listener is convinced that all of these are cast from the same mold. Every now and then, you get the feeling you are listening to a really old house record that was simply produced with 2010 technology. Funky and explosive at all the right moments.

Norman Weber and Marco Resmann aka Luna City Express present a remix 12" of tracks from their 2009 album Hello From Planet Earth. Mathias Kaden's remix of "Diamonds & Pearls" experiments with the e-piano snippets from the original track, supported by an ambitiously grooving beat. Ray Okpara's remix strips "Celebration Of Life" down to its essence: the groove. Catz 'N Dogz take care of the humorous "Mr. Jack," placing the vocals up front, like an instrument.

Matthias Tanzmann presents two versions of "Chano," demonstrating just where house can take you on the threshold of a new decade. The original concentrates on a percussive rhythm and a lyrical vocal, its carefully-placed sounds building the track into a dynamic and hypnotic whole. The "Second Mix" is arranged more classically -- a deep chord, a clear beat, accentuated hi-hats and claps. The percussiveness here is more profound, shaping the track in a completely different way.

This is the debut full-length release from Berlin's Luna City Express. For 10 years now, Norman Weber and Marco Resmann have been living out their love for house together both at the turntables and in the studio as Luna City Express. At 14, Weber heard his first Chicago house mix on tape -- a musical revelation and the beginning of his subsequent career. Resmann discovered electronic music in the early '90s in a friend's basement studio where he first started delving into drum machines and synthesizers. In 1999 he set up his Audiogain studio and established himself as a producer, producing as a solo artist under the pseudonym Phage and also in projects like Pan/Pot or Phage & Daniel Dreier, releasing on labels like Mobilee, Klang Elektronik and Highgrade. In 2007, he founded the label Upon You with Marcus Meinhardt and Hawks Grunert. At a millennium party in Italy, Norman and Marco crossed paths for the first time and clicked immediately -- two house nerds had found each other. When Norman moved from Jena to Berlin, they began to play as a DJ team, organizing their own parties and producing their first tracks together, a mixture of downbeat, trip-hop and deep house. Beside remixes and releasing on labels like Justified Cause and Enliven Music, Moon Harbour has truly become the home of Luna City Express, and at the same time, they've played an essential part in developing the label's sound. Hello From Planet Earth brings together 13 outstanding tracks -- from techno to experimental, going from euphoric to quiet moments. It's an eclectic album that isn't just for the club, all held together by the unique Luna City Express house vibe.

Matthias Tanzmann invited Copenhagen's Martinez and Frenchman Seuil into the studio for what ended up being a very fruitful couple of recording sessions, starting with this first volume in the Moon Harbour Joints series. Martinez and Tanzmann roll out the tightly arranged "Ohh I Don't Know," characterized by impulsive beats, rhythmic chords and engaging vocal samples, all adding up to make a unique funk that's direct, authentic and deep. On the flip, Tanzmann and Seuil build upon several layered vocal samples, resulting in a deeper, more laid back affair.

Alexis Benard aka Seuil dishes up 3 top-notch house tracks for Moon Harbour. "Musm" has a sharply-accented rhythm, underlined by a catchy vocal sample. A rising trumpet fanfare shows off Seuil's feel for the dancefloor. "Unexpected Night" is a builder. During the breakdown, a half-dissonant, half-driving sound emerges, giving the track a new dynamic. "Ohohah" builds on an elegant bass line and reveals a friskier side to Seuil, while still capturing his catchy, deep and funky style.

This is the third volume in Moon Harbour's Inhouse compilation series, mixed by Martinez. More than just simply packed with new and exclusive tracks from Moon Harbour artists and friends, this label compilation also includes landmarks which connect a contemporary sound with a look to the future by giving a mouth-watering taste of upcoming releases. Two eventful years have passed since the last Inhouse compilation: almost a dozen new EPs have been released and played relentlessly in clubs worldwide -- releases by Moon Harbour residents Matthias Tanzmann, Marlow, Luna City Express and Dan Drastic, but also by Simon Flower, Miguel Toro, Gregor Tresher, Seuil, and last but not least, Martinez, who is set to influence the labels' profile more in the future. Moon Harbour has now become fully international, with its artists receiving global acclaim and booking for gigs far and wide. Inhouse Vol. 3 ranges from classical house through to the current sound of the club-scene, in which the borders between techno, minimal and house are becoming more and more blurred. The compilation seamlessly combines tracks by friends of Moon Harbour like Boris Werner and Mathias Kaden, who have previously remixed for Moon Harbour before, artists like Martinez and Vera who are currently the label's focus, newcomers Dan Drastic & Chris Lattner, who are set to cause more sensation in the future, and last but not least: Matthias Tanzmann and Luna City Express -- the central members of the Moon Harbour family. Inhouse Vol. 3 is not only a gift for Moon Harbour fans, but also for the label itself. Other artists include: Reboot, Agnès, Johnny D, and Dot.

Martin Swanstein aka Martinez, high-flying producer, DJ and label-head, presents two brilliant tracks for Moon Harbour. On "Le Cirkus," Martinez arranges different vocal samples into a rhythmic collage which builds a backbone of funk. "Mundial" has a percussive and intricate start, but quickly evolves into an easy-going and elegant house track, creating an incredible deepness by focusing on the essential.

Copenhagen-based DJ and producer Martinez reflects the typical Scandinavian club sound that captivates by both its deepness and its clarity and this is reflected on his Moon Harbour debut. "Momomowha..." is an impulsive techno track, with various house elements. The beat pushes forward undeviatingly as vocal samples loop through the whole track, adding a funky touch. "Day By Day" is more obviously rooted in house music with a twisted beat that pushes forward against warm chords -- Martinez's deeper side.

Moon Harbour cannot be imagined without Daniel Faulwasser aka Dan Drastic behind the scenes. "Slice of Life" starts flirting with dub effects and a gracefully-built rhythm. Little-by-little, an African choir moves over, which affects the track on the second half after the break, without dominating it. Johnny D remixes, with only a few sounds and a hypnotic rhythm. The vocals emerge subtly, the percussive beat operates in the foreground, once more measuring the limits of contemporary house music.

Gregor Tresher's debut on Moon Harbour shows his deep and minimal side. With Break New Soil, you will hear a deep energy fed by a straight rhythm and a reduced chord -- perfect for the prime time. On the B-side, Daniel Stefanik presents a remix that is light, casual and discreet with its vocals and melodies.

This is part two of Moon Harbour's 3-part double CD series, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Ibiza's summertime Circoloco party. On volume two, resident/mixer Arpiar presents his own view behind the decks at DC 10. This is the deepest, most minimal contribution to this series. Arpiar is from Bucharest, Romania, where he runs the [a:rpia:r] label. Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano have long recognized the brilliance of this newly burgeoning Rumanian scene, which has led to extended EPs on the Cadenza label from Petre Inspirescu, Rhadoo, etc. Forget about the ridiculous clown cover on this CD (not easy to do, no matter how fucked up you are) and enjoy one of the most minimal and inventive mix CDs of 2008. It's like Villalobos at 7:00 A.M., minus just a bit of the "three sheets to the wind" worldview. Artists include: Cezar, Petre Inspirescu, Praslea, Atbash, Jens Zimmermann, Mica Publicitate, Brothers' Vibe, Mara Trax, Herodot, Pedric, Robert Dietz, Simitli, Matthias Tanzmann, Two Armadillos, Sascha Dive, Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts, Seth N Shaun, Hermannstadt Collective, Rhadoo, Markus Fix, Minimono, Cabanne, Brother's Vibe, and Luna City Express.
