Two high grade tracks by one of grime's greatest producers D.O.K. "06" is grime at its purest; gliding synths, weird bleeps, and a heavy bassline whilst the flip, "Look Uno", continues on the Coolie Joyride path. Relentless beats, a heavy sub and catchy samples. Perfect. Grime at ist prime. Marbled purple vinyl.

Simon Hiscocks on the release: "Originally written in 2006, 'Snow Forest' was a 'Slew Dem' anthem and when I got to know Spooky in 2009 it was one of the first tunes I asked him for. . . . It was one of my favorite dubs but I always dreamt of putting it out on my label. After finding the original CD that Spooky gave me back in 2010 the time was right to finally get it pressed up on vinyl and in the shops. [It's] backed with 'Funky Dub', a tune from 2009 that still gets a massive reaction."

Trends & Boylan wrote an anthem with "Norman Bates". Easily the biggest grime instrumental of 2016, "Norman Bates" has been played and rewound time and time again, at all of the biggest shows. On the flip, there are individual tunes from the two producers. Boylan goes on an orchestral workout with clarinets and strings providing the catchy riffs alongside classic square waves on "Shimmy". Trends uses his signature robotic bass sounds matched with a dark moody choir on "Octopus".

"Fiesta" opens this 10" release - the raucous carnival side to Spooky's sound. Air-horns, loads of sub, syncopated soca pressure. The B side takes a more languid approach, lilting reggae guitars and horns, Spooky's signature "Heys". The EP encapsulates Spooky's soundsystem approach and heritage in one 10" release. Presented on colored vinyl.

It was only natural that Boylan and Spooky found themselves in the studio together. "Low Rider" is a malevolent take on the west coast walking bassline style - a 4am eight-bar loop, haze and sub. After listening to that sparse 20 seconds on repeat for a while, they brought muscle to the skeleton - DJ Quik in Peckham. "All Black Winter" takes their sound in a much harsher direction. Growling saws, guttural strings and a brief Morse code arpeggio meet violent gunshot snares and Boylan's bass science - one for the 2am ride-outs. Presented on colored vinyl.

On the A-side the orchestral minimalism of the title-track gives way to the Indian scales of "Time," both of them full of sub and menace. Then on the B-side, there's a track called... "Oil Gang." This was Dullah's choice -- the label isn't just on an ego trip. The echoes of Oil Gang's other releases are there, though, including a JT-style flute riding gunshot hats and AMS Feedback. The last track, "Floating," rounds up the EP with steel drums riding Dullah's inimitable style. This is the first time there's been a proper Dullah Beatz statement on vinyl.

JT the Goon is a grime legend, but you might not know that. JT's music combines grime's raw power with the rich melodies that he's mastered in his development as a producer since the mid-2000s. His full-length debut, King Triton, evokes classic westerns and martial arts movies without ever losing sight of the fact that it's first and foremost a grime record. In addition to the AMS Feedback Lead that JT helped popularize, it draws from a range of the Korg Triton sounds that are at the genre's heart. Equally respected by grime veterans and its new breed, this is one of the genre's best, operating with authority. Includes a collaboration with Dullah Beatz and a remix by Rabit.
