Comprising the virtuosic talents of Magnus "MegaloMangan" Henriksson from Eclipse, Lars "The Hammer" Sköld of Tiamat, Marcus "Mean Machine" von Boisman representing Tank, and the newest addition, Mats "Spellbinder" Rydström from Avatarium, Knights Of The Realm forge a formidable alliance poised to conquer the darkest realms of the metal kingdom. Collectively with over 50 heavy releases under their four-row studded belts (three is also okay!), Knights Of The Realm are not exactly newcomers to heavy metal, and their self-titled 2021 debut album surely hit home with the international metal press. Their music, a fusion of melodic heaviness reminiscent of the NWOBHM era, enriched with contemporary elements, resonated deeply with both traditional metal aficionados and a new generation of listeners. The band's journey has been marked by personal and collective challenges, providing fertile ground for introspection and artistic growth. Magnus Henriksson explains: "Coming out of the pandemic was great, but then to handle life when things got back to 'normal' was a bit harder for all of us! The good thing is that we could channel some of this into the new songs, which I believe has made them more powerful and dark." Indeed, their forthcoming album, Darker Than Leather, delves deep into themes of adversity and resilience, with tracks such as "Pow-er Of Evil," "The Dark" and "Hell Can Wait" offering a visceral exploration of the human experience.

Around 2022, Mando Diao was invited to do another MTV Unplugged concert following up their massively success one for their English material that was done back in 2010. This time the focus was to on all of the Swedish material recorded over the years and with emphasis on the albums Infruset as well as I solnedgången. The band went into the majestic and former church Eric Ericssonhallen in central Stockholm and also invited a few guests on stage including Ane Brun, Kristofer Greczula, and Jacqline Moss.

Two of Sweden's most interesting artists collaborate on this brand-new version of "Mellan Slagen" from Dina Ögon's celebrated album Oas (PGM 163LP). The song -- which was originally inspired by glaciers and fjords lit up with neon lights and permeated with a smokey club feel -- weaves together Broder John's nasal, soft flow with the slow, almost ghostly groove which brings to mind the '90s Bristol trip-hop scene. Broder John has made quite a name for himself as a force to be reckoned with on the Swedish music scene. This Umeå-bred artist has contributed to shaping the music of today and leading the way for a new generation of artists. Following his debut album Cool and the sophomore album Drift, he was picked as the first-ever artist singing in Swedish to perform on the international platform ColorsXStudios. Broder John says, "Dina Ögon is the best thing to have happened to Sweden in the last ten years and Oas is an instant classic. I don't think I've ever been as quick to accept an invitation as I was when this one came in." Broder John on the new lyrics: "If you've listened to my previous lyrics, you can see that I'm often drawn to writing about different contradictions in life. I'm very inspired by Anna's lyrical writing, and I heard her words in the chorus 'finns inga krav' (there are no requirements) and I wanted to explore if there was something I could take from that into my world. I've had this idea for quite a long time about the scenario in which someone says that 'everyone is lying' and what that means for the person saying it -- are they lying too in that case? So, in combination with Anna's world and the incredible production, it felt like a perfect painting to continue painting. I think the last sentence ties it together nicely, 'Kan inte lita på nån här, det är sjukt, så tro mig när jag säger att det är sant -- alla ljuger' (Can't trust anyone here, it's insane, so believe me when I say that it's true -- everyone is lying). Dina Ögon on the collaboration: "Broder John is one of the best ones we have, we like that stuff, please listen!"

Mando Diao have always been free spirits. They have always gone their own way, resisted authority and enjoyed the hedonistic side of life, elements which have contributed to the band's successful and musically extensive career which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The character Boblikov, the symbol of Mando Diao's new album Boblikov's Magical World, represents the persona we all carry inside of us that likes to turn things upside down -- the little devil on our shoulders. He isn't evil; he's simply looking for advantages and to manipulate things in his own favor. As the mastermind behind his enterprise, he is not usually in the spotlight. This anonymity gives him a sense of security and respectability even though he is involved in some shady business. After a long and triumphant Swedish tour following the release of the #1 bestselling, gold-record awarded album I Solnedgången, Mando Diao regrouped in the studio together with producer Charlie Storm with the goal of creating an unpretentious rock album. The songs -- heavy with riffs, messy guitars, powerful drums, and bucketloads of energy -- have been released in portions in the form of EPs, and now, the two first volumes will be completed with a third EP and a compilation album. Songs like "Frustration" and "Fire in the Hall" have enjoyed major success on international and Swedish rock radio, and the band has been seen on the stages of the biggest European rock festivals. Boblikov's Magical World invites the listener into a fictional world where the schemer protagonist rules over a group of agents spread out across the world, agents who receive instructions from Boblikov himself to carry out evil deeds. The overarching theme is further amplified by both the cartoon covers and the visualizers. Mando Diao invite you into this parallel universe.

"This release is my way of celebrating the memory of one of the most important figures in early blues and gospel -- the great Blind Willie Johnson -- who would have turned 125 this year. The recording of his masterpiece 'Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Ground' (recorded in my favorite recording year, 1927) can be found on the golden records onboard Voyager I and II and was added to the National Recording Registry in 2010, which selects recordings annually that are deemed 'culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.' Although his music is often very hopeful, when you look back at his life, hope is not the first word that comes to mind. Willie wasn't blind at birth but became blind at seven years old. Exactly how it happened is uncertain, but one statement is that his aunt accidentally threw lye in his eyes. In his older years a fire took his house, but him being poor and blind and black he wasn't left with much else of a choice than to stay and live in the ruins of his old home. Living in this environment gave him pneumonia which subsequently led to his death. But his beautiful music just might live forever -- forever floating in space."

Dina Ögon is like a bumblebee -- big and fluffy and it should be impossible for it to fly, but it does it anyway -- quite simply as well. Anna Ahnlund, Christopher Cantillo, Daniel Ögren, and Love Örsan have had forty fingers involved in an unnumerable amount of Swedish rock, jazz, soul, and pop projects, recordings and tours and all kinds of hush hush. Between themselves they've played in different constellations and played back up for each other, assisted even more in one form or another for more than a decade. But now they've formed a more remarkable quartet than what transpired from any of all the shenanigans they've previously been involved with. When such seasoned musicians themselves get a shot at it, it's not supposed to be able to fly or cause sensation according to conventional ways of marketing scheming, but this, well for one thing it's so self-evidently great; secondly, the new album Oas sounds exactly like the sum of what's lacking in Sweden musically in the 2020s. And for too many decades before that as well one could add, at least in this natural form. Oas is bubbling in a way few albums do, but without bursting. It's held together by their curiosity, they're searching through so many musical corners without going astray and the skillful playing welds it together. Dina Ögon are checking all the nutrients from black music and pop but it's no pretentious show off, only a hella rewarding listen. 180 gram vinyl; printed inner sleeve.

The music from his teenage years rekindled Eagle-Eye Cherry's energy when he sat down to write his sixth studio album, Back on Track. In these past couple of years during which the entire world has felt lost, Eagle-Eye Cherry started to question his profession. He saw health care workers struggle with something that really mattered and wondered what his own role was. At the same time, however, he missed getting to share the live experience of music with other people and came to the conclusion that what he does is indeed important. Hence the title of his sixth studio album: Back on Track. Many of the songs were recorded right before the pandemic escalated, but when the process was delayed, more songs came to life. When Eagle-Eye spent most of his time at home and had time to elevate his cooking skills, he once again started listening to the music he used to love when he was a teenager and got into buying records of his own: Talking Heads (his family's neighbors on Long Island during the 1980s), Blondie, The Clash, Modern Lovers. The influences might not be obvious, but there was something about the energy that Eagle-Eye found incredibly inspiring. Most of the album tracks were recorded at the Atlantis studio, a few of them in Peter Kvint's studio and one at Strawberry Studios in Töreboda. Eagle-Eye collaborated in the songwriting with Peter Kvint, Anders Pettersson, David Lindgren Zacharias, and Joel Sjöö, and a song Eagle-Eye wrote back in 2007 with Cameron McVey came back to life thanks to British singer/songwriter Will Varley. CD version includes one additional track.

If there's one thing Mando Diao have always avoided, it's predictability. Almost all their work has been an unexpected reaction to their most recent venture. They are musically periodical and cannot resist creating new challenges, ways of thinking and concepts to stay stimulated. It's easy for touring bands to feel like you're being deprived of your identity, job, and money when all tours are canceled. Like most, Mando Diao were caught off guard when everything came to a halt. The first months were a bit shaky; they admit. However, they quickly picked themselves back up and decided to use the pandemic in the best way possible: by being creative. By the time the first recording session with Charlie Storm was over, the band already had half a dozen finished songs. After a total of 15 recording days, they ended up with work that amounted to an album and a half. This work will be divided into three volumes to be released in portions. The first volume is called Stop The Train and contains the songs "Stop The Train", "Animal", "Frustration", and "Loner". A mix of modern and old school, just like Mando Diao themselves.

LP version. The Rasmus's tenth studio album. Produced by Desmond Child and Joshua. Fresh from their show-stopping performance representing Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest grand final, The Rasmus return with new single "Rise". Co-written and produced by Desmond Child, "Rise" is an energetic rock track with orchestral flourishes and one of the most aggressive songs from the band in a long time. Singer Lauri explains: "'Rise' is about the struggle of fighting a battle against depression. Covid was the last straw for many people having mental health issues, including myself. In the music video the dancers playing 'the roots' represent the evil force and they are trying to pull us down underground. Still, the song has a positive message, which is not to give up no matter how hard life treats you." The Rasmus's new album, also titled Rise, is released on Playground Music. 12" vinyl EP with three brand new songs. Mando Diao is back on full effect having played all the major rock-festivals across Europe in summer 2022 including Southside and Novarock. Just before the summer-season they rolled out the first in a series of volumes with sizzling hot and high-octane rock fresh of the studio. Vol. 1 (PGM 159LP) produced the radio-success "Frustration" that managed to climb all the way to No. 2 at rock-radio in Germany. Now Playground Music announce Vol. 2. The lead-track "Primal Call" is a hippie-like sounding one that draws inspiration from Led Zeppelin and King Crimson, a much punkier version. No logic whatsoever in the changes throughout the track but hey, that's how the band likes it. Full of surprises. As if the producer was a total lunatic out of control. "Fire In The Hall" is a short, intense song written by Björn and Jens. Once again, a blend of primitive rock n' roll feel and electronics. For example, the drums are based on samples of Patso's drumming. The lyrics are simple and almost trivial, with a "La Vida Loca" vibe: start a great fire, for yourself and others. Most things can be solved with a cleansing dance -- both in reality and in lyrics. "If you write the lyrics together with someone, it's easier to avoid becoming pretentious and over-analytical," they summarize. Finally, "Charlie", about their current producer (Charlie Storm). One of the greatest is having worked with so many big releases (Roxette, In Flames, Hurl, etc.) At least partly. They were excited about him and felt that he deserved a song. Or maybe they didn't have anything else to write about. Everyone had different inputs, but it ended up being a pure rock n' roll song. And a real banger.

2023 restock. Dina Ögon's self-titled debut album. A collection of musical fantasies, permeated by an irresistible feel. Dina Ögon take you with them in a Cadillac going 40 mph straight toward the summer night sun. You will not have heard anything like it in a very long time. The band are experts at what they do. They do their thing, no messing around. They glue it together. One of them thinks nice shoes are important, another one thinks of gasoline and leather. Not as in black, studded leather, but rather soft, bright leather with a flowery, wood-like scent, and gasoline in a nice-looking bottle. No scent. They put a piece of themselves in good company into it. Reflections and thoughts. Ambition and curiosity. The lyrics and the music are for all people of every era. For your eyes, for all of us, we who are one with each other. For those who never take responsibility and for those who take too much. A lovechild of Fleetwood Mac, Khruangbin, obscure Motown singles, and hip-hop duo Eric B & Rakim, seasoned with a bit of Stevie Wonder, Elis Regina, and Ted Gärdestad. The mixture of influences -- from psychedelic rock to glittery pop, and onwards to funky soul -- says something about the band's base. Check out the album's closing track "Ficktjuven" for a clear example. Psychedelic and playful with choirs in a way you could never have imagined. Yellow vinyl.

Every once in a while, a band emerges ready to take on the world. Sweden's own Knights Of The Realm bring the thunder and deliver the goods (pun intended). From the first note of the intro, to the last on the outro, they deliver their own lovingly crafted blend of classic '80s metal. Knights Of The Realm is many years of heavy metal experience combined into a pure vicious heavy metal machine. Larry "The Hammer" Shield (Lars Sköld) has toured the globe and recorded with legendary band Tiamat for as long as he can remember, and is without a shadow of a doubt the band's backbone. Megalomagnus (Magnus Henriksson) has been making history with his band Eclipse since the end of the '90s and is a bonafide guitar hero, who's both capable of some heavy duty riffage as well as delivering gorgeous melodies. Mean Machine (Marcus Von Boisman) has been working in the shadows of metal for many years, and played with Swedish bands Windupdeads and Stormen. And as far as the Mean Machine goes, well, the name says it all! He delivers the soaring rock vocals we all love, with attitude and feeling. The love for classic heavy metal is the driving force behind this band. The aim from the beginning was to write heavy metal hits that should, or could, have been on the albums they grew up listening to. When the songwriting process began, it was like opening Pandora's box. The overall feeling was that those songs were calling out to be written and to be played, and the band's collective ideas, dreams and experiences merged into something new, something that can hopefully lure a new generation of rockers into that metal club we all love. Knights Of The Realm is a Swedish heavy metal band, and their aim is to spread their music to as many metal heads as possible, all the while having a blast doing it. They are getting ready to go on a crusade, and to take their true place on the metal throne as Knights Of The Realm.

Cassette version. Steve 'N' Seagulls on Another Miracle: "Our fourth album Another Miracle began to find it's form after our line-up renewed in 2019. We felt that we were on the verge of something new and exciting. We knew our roots and wanted to hold on to them, but at the same time we wanted to explore and find new colors and shapes to our music. We felt energized and fresh. Those elements can be found on the album also. One can find the straight forward hammering common to our band and also new tones and beauty. Pre-production period was a bit longer than on the previous albums and the producer Timo Kämäräinen was a vital part of that process. We had plenty of material. Some re-arranged classics and also more original music. In the end we had a whole and complete album on our hands. Band sounds stronger and more colorful than ever. Producer Kämäräinen and recording engineer Abdissa 'Mamba' Assefa pushed us with a gentle touch towards new adventures. They are known for their classic, straight-up rock and roll sound, starting their career drawing on heavy influences from rhythm and blues, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and The Kinks. As they developed their own music, they took in more pop and dance themes, but have always maintained the energy and attitude of early rock paired with Björn's unmistakingly soulful voice. Mando Diao now release their eighth studio album. A straight-forward, non-compromising album completely 100% written, recorded, mixed, and produced by the band themselves. An energetic, dark and very personal album that is spellbinding, powerful and their best work to date. Explosive, in your face and simply bang!
