Reissue, originally released in 2003. The first punk band from Peterborough, northwest of Cambridge, the Now spun off from the Faderz, with singer Mike McGuire, guitarist Steve Rools, drummer Joe MacColl, and bassist Paul Wicks, later replaced by Faz Farrow. Debut 45 Development Corporation charted, but the band split after Into The 80's; in 2002, German label Last Year's Youth re-released the 45s, which led to Here Come The Now, where vintage songs share space with the re-formed band's new takes of earlier work, a best-of-both-worlds approach that puts everything together in one place. A must for all fans of the Now and lovers of intelligent British punk.

Reissue, originally released in 1982. Absolutely essential UK OI! classic, originally released on the band's own label. Limited reissue on red/white splatter vinyl limited to 500 copies only, with double-sided lyrics insert included. "An unequivocal title gives way to an unrelenting sound! The Last Resort's debut album might have kicked off with a wall of noise lifted straight from Black Sabbath's 'War Pigs' ('Freedom'), but skill Skinhead Anthems does exactly what it says on the tin, ripping a dozen self-composed monsters out of the band's set list and nailing them to the studio with brutal disdain for any of the niceties. Certainly, the band's influences are loud on their sleeves -- Sham and the Cockney Rejects hang heavy over the proceedings. But Last Resort's refusal to lose their own instincts within the trappings of sociology and 'relevance' conquer all; 'Skinheads in Stapress,' 'Rebels with a Cause,' and 'Resort Boot Boys' speak to the very heart of the skinhead movement, and if it all sounds a little dated today, then that's your look-out." --AllMusic

Considered the first punk band in Detroit, the ironic power-pop-punk quartet Cinecyde launched Tremor Records in 1977 to handle their own work, issuing several singles and EPs before cutting this dynamite debut long-player in 1982. Arguably the band's best release, the album captured Cinecyde at its tightest and made clear that the sound was all their own, the players directing their raw power into unusual power-pop song structures, the high level of musical skill and cliche-free lyrics relegating the output to a unique category. This is a must-have for fans of the group and all lovers of intelligent, non-standard Midwest punk!

The Specials shook up the British music scene in 1979 when their blend of English punk and Jamaican ska took the nation by storm. The Dawning of a New Era collects the legendary 1978 demos, cut when the group was known as The Automatics, with Silverton Hutchinson on drums and before the arrival of Neville Staples. Favorites such as "Night Klub," "Too Much Too Young," "Stupid Marriage," "Concrete Jungle," "Blank Expression," and the title track are here presented in rougher, spikier arrangements, much of the work-in-progress referencing the reggae stylings of the late 1960s and early '70s. A must for all Specials fans!

Pioneering Dutch punk band, the Squats, was one of the first to emerge from the underground of late 1970s Nijmegen. The core of the group morphed into Oi! band the Magnificent, and after a shared cassette with Angelic Upstarts and tracks on early Oi! compilations, an augmented Magnificent cut quality debut, Hit And Run, released by Link in 1988, which captures the band at their tightest. Internal friction would lead to further lineup changes, making Hit And Run the must-have for fans of the band and all lovers of Oi! If you don't know, get to know, and if you already know, be thankful for another chance to grab it! Three bonus tracks included!

Formed in Stoke on Trent in 1977, northern band Discharge changed the British punk scene forever with a distinctive brand of hardcore, making minimalistic mu-sic with heavily distorted guitar, drone-like bass, shouted anarchic vocals and a style of propulsive drumming, known as D Beat. This new edition of the legendary London debut, unleashed at Camden's Music Machine in October 1980, is a blistering set that captures the group at their freshest, the audience response so great that they revisit "Realities Of War," "Fight Back," "Tomorrow Belongs To Us," and "They Declare It" for the full-throttle encore. Essential Discharge!

Having played with the likes of influential movers and shakers on the anarcho-punk scene Antisect and Icons of Filth, on their first full-length LP, Birmingham's Sacrilege established themselves as a unique force to be reckoned with, wreaking havoc on what could be classified as sonic tropes belonging to a spectrum of subgenres dealing in the extremes: hardcore, doom, and thrash. Fronted by Lynda 'Tam' Simpson and her seizure-inducing spells injected with a fierce, sociopolitical-cum-mythopoeic banshee bite (but not wanting to understate the line-up of Damian Thompson on guillotine-quick/milkshake thick guitars) -- the six-track onslaught is every bit as crushing as the title suggests. From depraved dungeon synth-scapes on opener Lifeline to the planet-flattening funeral toll of "The Closing Irony," one question remains: One riff to rule them all? Yes.

Recorded in Los Angeles in 1982, 13.13 exists as document to the pandemonium of specters and potential serial killers who twisted the California Dream into a waking nightmare as they snaked through the boulevards, back yards and basements of a sun stroked paradise turning into a blood-soaked inferno of fear, paranoia, panic and lust killings. Lush musical textures provided by members of seminal art punks The Weirdos -- Dix Denney, Cliff Martinez, and Greg Williams create a hypnotic backdrop to Lydia Lunch's evocative vocals and terrifying lyrics.

Formed in the northeast town of South Shields in 1977, punk/Oi! band Angelic Upstarts recorded two studio albums for Warner Brothers and two for EMI's Zonophone subsidiary before being dropped by the latter. Work was begun on an abortive fifth studio album that forms the bulk of the brilliant Lost & Found, with superior versions of "Last Tango In Moscow" material featuring the classic Upstarts line up of Mensi/Mond/Glyn/Decca. Live tracks from the Main Event gig at the London Astoria have Mensi/Hayes/Ronnie Rocker/Max Splodge. This is required listening for all Upstarts fans. Thoroughly excellent!

Reissue on vinyl for the third album by the punk band The Exploited, released in 1983 through Pax Records. The title refers to Margaret Thatcher's decision to go to war over the Falkland Islands in 1982, suggesting that she did so almost on a whim. Let's Start a War reached the Indie Chart Top 10 when first issued in 1983, and this album also includes the single "Rival Leaders" which hit No. 11 in the Indie Chart. A classic of the "UK82' hardcore punk sound that provides a blueprint for the decade of punk and metal to come, and all in the space of just over half an hour.

Fully remastered! '80s garage rockers the Fuzztones had deep roots in the east coast punk scene. Frontman Rudi Protrudi got his start in hard rockers Springhead Motorshark and formed the influential DC punk act Tina Peel with organist Deb O'Nair, going on to the Fuzztones with bassist Michael Jay, drummer Ira Elliot and guitarist Elan Portnoy. Debut album Leave Your Mind At Home captures the group at their rawest and most unexpurgated: recorded live on a 1984 tour of the Midwest, the group thrills the crowds with riveting takes of obscure '60s nuggets. This is where the journey starts, a loveable warts-n-all set of garage rock bangers!

The Fuzztones' sophomore set Lysergic Emanations is often hailed as the best album that the garage rock band ever released. As with their debut album, the disc mixes cover versions of obscure 1960s garage rock tracks with some inspired original work, and this one benefitted from being cut in the studio, allowing listeners to hear the group in full-spectrum stereo, without the noisy distractions of a live setting. Keen covers of songs by the Sonics, the Yardbirds and Sonny Boy Williamson are rendered in their own image and the originals sound totally on form too. Lysergic Emanations is the Fuzztones' pinnacle -- totally superb!

If phonophobia can be defined as an overall fear of sound -- what better band can you think of than crustcore titans Extreme Noise Terror to deliver such a fear as though kicking listeners down a shoot that leads to a lifetime sentence in Room 101. The album contains the band at their best, which sounds and feels like the worst thing you've ever encountered on earth: bolt-sputtering vocals on "Pray To Be Saved" and "Self-Decay." Grim guitars groan as they gut the intestines from one's malnourished belly for a final meal on "Knee Deep in Shit" and "Moral Bondage." Rhythms that emerge from nowhere like fleets of demonic hailstone with drywall nails in place of the hail on "Third World Genocide." Only a classic band like Extreme Noise Terror can have so much influence, yet by comparison of that influence, such little musical output can sound like being cracked apart and smashed together in equally, exhilaratingly evil measures.

In It For Life was the suitably titled 1989 LP by post-apocalyptic voltage mongrels Extreme Noise Terror and Filthkick, a Birmingham-based hardcore punk group, equally as championed by John Peel as ENT were. "Work For Never" and "Damaging Noise" performed here by the former to the same exhilarating degrees as Mount Vesuvius erupts is an unholy rumble of double-pronged vocal aggression and rampages of feedback that could burst boils not even formed yet. A vampire bullied into submission and burning in the sun. Filthkick follows with "Cime Without A Name," an endless, ominous dirge before being mauled by a savage dog. "Between The Lines" jumping in and out of focus, but never losing any of its ferocity with blistering speed and sandblasting action.
