The Crystal Furs are a queer indie pop/rock band from Portland, OR. They write melodic, textured songs about anxiety, architecture, lesbians, and queer feels -- loud music for quiet hearts. In Coastal Light is the band's fifth album, following on from 2020 LP Beautiful and True, and hears them honing their blend of grunge-y riffs and '60s-girl-group vocals. Sky blue vinyl. "Had Portland's (via Forth Worth) The Crystal Furs have been around in the late '80s-early '90s there is a possibility they would have been signed to Sarah Records, home of OG jangle pop bands like The Field Mice and The Sea Urchins. Then again with their sunny, bright melodies, they might have found themselves riding the charts alongside The Bangles." --50Thirdand3rd "It's something of a well-worn expression, that adult life is about 'finding oneself', but it certainly seems for the Buchanans, and their band, that all of the changes in their life have enabled them to do just that. And what they've found are winning alt. indie-pop purveyors in the mold of Helen Love. Beautiful And True is an album whose title could not be clearer: it is what it says it is." --Get In Her Ears "Think of those jangly C86 tunes mixing genteel harmonies, spiraling keyboards, melodic guitar/bass sounds and wistful vocals and you begin to get the drift here." --Into Creative "From the opening tones of the Farfisa organ on 'Comeback Girls' the lo-fi indie pop shines through, with jangly guitars, unassuming instrumental breaks and a naturalistic production that puts the Furs right there in the room with you." --Cambridge Music Review "Retro without being jaded, cute without being cliched what The Crystal Furs do so well -- and demonstrate deeply on both tracks in this release -- is as we've said pair light, sparkling and downright danceable melodies with dark-hearted lyrics emerging from shadowy inner worlds and harder lived experiences." --Popoptica

The Incomprehensible Static is the solo project (with some help from talented friends) of Pete Darrington (or rather his surf-obsessed alter ego Pete Static). He is probably best known as the co-founder of Reckless Yes Records, bass player for '90s cult noise band Cable, and vocalist and guitarist in Godno! For fans of Dick Dale, Man Or Astro-Man?, and Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet, the album picks up on the current resurgence of instrumental tracks, riding along on surf guitar and experimental details for an intriguing retro-futuristic sound. Like many virtual bands, The Incomprehensible Static (or TIS for short) was born out of 2020 lockdown boredom combined with daydreaming about what other types of cool band Pete has always wanted to be in.

With striking immediacy and anthemic power-pop riffs indie-rock four-piece Fightmilk return with their second album Contender. Marking a maturing of their sound, the singles already drawn from it (I'm Starting To Think You Don't Even Want To Go To Space and If You Had A Sister) have garnered comparisons to Remote Part-era Idlewild, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Diet Cig, and Wolf Alice from publications including Secret Meeting, Louder Than War, and For The Rabbits along with 6Music and Radio X. With two more singles due from its ranks ahead of release, Contender shows a band adept at blending wry humor and big emotions with alt-rock riffs and harmonies that is ready to take their music to the next level, growing their audience further. Lucky dip color, eco vinyl; color printed inner sleeve. "Godzilla-heft hooks" --Drowned in Sound "one of the finest examples of mixed emotions you'll hear put to record, as a combination of sadness, joy, resentment and lust collide into a melting pot of pure honesty." --For The Rabbits Further

One year after the debut album Debasement Tapes (RY 002LP, 2016), Unqualified Nurse Band return with their second album, Trashland. A six-song, thirty-four minute sprawling head-fuck that once again pummels through the history of popular music, only this time UNB truly let the weird and wonderful seep into their consciousness. With more than a nod to Pink Floyd at their psychedelic height, the MC5 at their dirtiest of lows, and the Clash at their "nothing can touch us" punk rock-est, this album will blow both your mind and your speakers. "They traverse genres and create a sonic masterpiece." --Louder Than War

Third single from Manchester post-punk three-piece Liines. Produced by Paul Tipler (Idlewild, Stereolab, Placebo, Elastica, Earl Brutus). This is a single which showcases the scale of their sound; a vastness that makes you anticipate each beat, rewarded with huge hooks and driving basslines to make your heart hammer hard. The release follows their hotly received debut "Never There" (2015) and follow up, "Blackout" (2016). "Brilliant - driving and strident, it's pared down to the bare essentials: an urgent vocal melody, a propulsive rhythm, grinding guitars." --The Quietus. Comes on white, opaque vinyl.

Unqualified Nurse Band's Debasement Tapes is a cataclysmic explosion of all that has gone before, deconstructing that history, then smashing it all back together in a ferocious reaction to the norm. It is a 12 song, 30 minute blitzkrieg of genre-bending guitar-led brilliance, enveloping the listener in a maelstrom of past, present and future rock n' roll. From the opening howl of feedback, to its last dying chord, the aural assault is both relentless and exhilarating - twisting and turning in every direction without warning or notice. Debasement Tapes is the most exciting rock n' roller-coaster you'll ever ride. "... menacing swirl of the late, great Groop Dogdrill's swagger, Nirvana's noisy pop nous and streaks of East Bay Ray's shimmering surf guitar." --Team Rock. "Debasement Tapes proves why Unqualified Nurse Band are one of the most exciting bands in the country." --Louder Than War. Comes on translucent red vinyl.
