Rush Hour announces their second artist compilation Patchwork, curated by one of the label's most loved family members, Sassy J. The Swiss DJ is the very embodiment of passion and long-standing dedication to the craft of the DJing, but also to the community surrounding the music that she lives and breathes. For the past fourteen years Sassy J has run the Patchwork night in her native Bern and in London, with guests ranging from Theo Parrish and Little Dragon to Floating Points and MF Doom invited to share their respective musical visions. Her collaborative approach stands out in a DJ world that is too often weighted in favor of promoting the individual. This compilation grows out that unique sensitivity, foregrounding a theory of curation that centers on long-term bonds, articulated through Sassy J's personal relationships with the contributing artists. Patchwork speaks to the grass roots values that Sassy J espouses, showcasing music by many of the artists that have joined her throughout the years in clubs, on the radio, and at home. It is an expression of Sassy J's individual musical path that casts its gaze firmly in the future: Patchwork is made up almost entirely of new and unreleased songs that are exclusive to this collection. Patchwork captures a sound that has continued to evolve in its restless search for new musical directions. Across thirteen tracks you find forward thinking electronic music rubbing elbows with cosmic jazz and deep percussion workouts from Brazil and beyond. There are irresistible calls to the dancefloor: 2000Black's UK boogie, whilst the early rave of Nu-Era and Aardvarck's sub-rattling techno channel the grittier edges of the club experience. You find machine music imbued with humanity in Larry Heard's deep house classic "Survivor" and in Ron Trent's WARM project, whose gentle breeze points to a different side of the legendary producer. Patchwork also opens a more immersive listening space in which the radical indie soul of Georgia Anne Muldrow. Patchwork also includes Sassy J's collaboration with veteran producer Alex Attias, marking her own place in a universe that is held together by her singular thread. Patchwork is compiled by Sassy J and features ten exclusive tracks. Also features Farrah Boulé, Hanna, Alex Attias & Sassy J present OJA, GB, and Mr Fingers.

Rush Hour RSS presents a reissue of the sought-after self-titled LP by Slovenian act, Videosex. While little-known outside of the former Yugoslavia, Videosex's self-titled debut album from 1984 sold in significant numbers, making superstars of the young Slovenian musicians responsible for making it. The set not only helped turn Yugoslavian teenagers on to the possibilities of Western-style electronic pop, but also inspired them via satirical, often explicit lyrics. Their debut performance at the Novi Rock festival in Ljubljana lead to an immediate contract offer from Slovenia's biggest record label. It wasn't long before the band were holed up in Studio Top Ten in Ljiublana, recording what would become their debut album. They effectively moved in to the studio for days and weeks on end, clocking up well over 200 hours of recording time in which they mixed experimentation with a desire to polish each song to perfection. The result was their first album -- nine songs touching on a variety of sexually charged subjects including erotica, lesbianism, voyeurism, and sadism. Includes printed inner sleeve containing exclusive pictures.

Consists of six records in three different formats of 12"s, 7"s, and 10". Mutant Beat Dance has returned with their debut self-titled 25-track album. The record image booklet has been in development since 2015 with over 200 minutes running time and is released in various formats. The debut album from renegade trio Mutant Beat Dance -- Melvin Oliphant (Traxx), Beau Wanzer, and Steve Summers -- takes the wild and free sound of Chicago's Music Box era into the 21st century. Over twenty-five tracks the album mines an oft-cited but rarely understood ground at the intersection of post-punk, minimal wave, industrial, disco dub, EBM, and proto-house/early-House. Mutant Beat Dance is an epic journey into a classic American ideology that had its apex in Chicago. This aesthetic has already proven influential on many artists across the globe. Least of which is the Grammy-winning LCD Soundsystem whose members Tyler Pope and Patrick Mahoney back Melvin on vocals here on the Martin Hannett and Howard Devoto inspired "Feed The Enemy". Another LCD member Gavin Rayna Russom also provides vocals on the later-cut "Geometrical Disease" as Black Meteoric Star. Mutant Beat Dance was originally a duo made up of Traxx, and molecular biologist, Chicagoan Beau Wanzer. Traxx and Beau have been working on this concept in various forms throughout the last decade on solo and duo releases. After a rack full of releases, the duo began to refine their concept from 2015 on into its most thoroughly developed state -- the result is this epic 25-track, 200-minute long debut M.B.D album for Rush Hour. Given the scope of the material for the project it became logical and necessary to expand the unit to include its newest member Brooklyn based Steve Summers known for his releases on Clone Jack For Daze, Confused House, and others. Together this hard-working trio has completed an album with an enormous diversity of song styles unlike anything they have ever done before. Unique in its musical range and content from obscure electronics with subliminal messages to funk-laden machine grooves, industrial soundscapes, Detroit dirge, cryptic ankle bitter anthems, and beyond, this is a genre-bending challenging monster of an album that may scare you at first but push forward and deep rewards lie within. Also features Marianna and Naughty Wood.

Ron Trent meets Skymark -- two masterminds at work. Ron Trent takes on the mighty Skymark original and elevates the listener to a whole other place like only he can. Trent treats you to one of his deepest, dubbiest jams in recent years -- embracing the strength of the song while interweaving his own rhythm throughout. The original track, here on the flip, featured on Skymark's 2015 Wave From The Nucleus LP, is a beautiful song from the sun-kissed Swiss musician and producer who resided in Rio de Janeiro for many years, and now in Barcelona.

Two tracks taken from Rush Hour's Surinam Funk Force compilation (RHMC 002LP, 2016). Indo-Surinamese singer, Cynthia's "Jhoom Le" (1980) is wonderfully skewed synth disco gem. The track was previously only featured on the CD version of the compilation. Another favorite, Astaria's "Jamasa Roro" (1979), a driving Caribbean style disco bomb, appears on the flip.

Three dancefloor hitters by the Dutch Arp Frique. Nos Magia holds collaborations with Nigerian funkster Orlando Julius and Cape-Verdean legend Americo Brito. Surprising new cuts that could easily have been made in the '70s. Arp Frique is Niels Nieuborg from the city of Rotterdam, who has been actively involved in the Dutch live music scene for years. After all these years, he finally presents his own true musical output. "Nos Magia" is a classic sounding, but unheard Cape Verdean funana song featuring the old skool Americo Brito on vocals. "Kamajo" and "Ijo Ya" are collaborations with Afro-beat protagonist Orlando Julius.

Late '80s South African dancefloor winners only! Selected by DJ Okapi and Antal, the Pantsula! compilation holds tracks by Jivaro, The Hard Workers, Ayobayo Band, S.Y.B., and many more. The 12 tracks selected for Pantsula! come from a very unique, very different time and place. They represent the birth of electronic dance music in South Africa, through the songs of one particular independent label from the time: Music Team. The sound represents the culmination of the bubblegum era, when South Africa's disco artists outgrew their American influences and forged an increasingly electronic and "local" pop sound. Evolving over time since long before the '80s, the distinctly South African subculture of pantsula is more closely associated with an attitude, a style, and a signature dance, rather than any specific sound. In the late 1980s and early '90s, Pantsula was also the name given to a new type of dance music taking over the streets of South Africa, influenced by earlier bubblegum and the rise of shangaan disco, but with a far broader appeal and a harder, purely electronic sound. This is the sharp electronic music that fueled the local Pantsula dances during the '80s and '90s. A must have for fans of bubblegum and kwaito music. Also features The Equals, Jivaro, Scotch Band, Kakappa, Spirro, Rush, Linda Ziqubu, Chaka, and La Viva.

New Aural Discourse holds four fresh, futuristic and far-sighted British takes on Detroit techno by arguably one of British '90s electronic music's best-kept secrets. New Aural Discourse is N.A.D.'s comeback release after over 25 years. The duo Tony Thorpe and Mustafa Ali released one album, 1990's Dawn of a New Age (RH RSS7-LP). Dawn of a New Age was recorded in only a week, inspired by two of Ali's greatest passions: science fiction and his Islamic faith. N.A.D's forgotten debut album became a "must-have" for electronic music collectors. New Aural Discourse is the perfect title for N.A.D.'s new release.

The two-tracker arose after Sadar Bahar discovered Ben's Utrecht based studio, which houses 60 synths! Electro fiend Ben was charmed by the electronic elements in Sadar's funk and Sadar loved Ben's ideas. Nuff said -- a new NL based project was born. Nothing sampled for these tracks... only stabbing guitar, bass, sax, and pounding drum programming for dancefloor heat -- two direct disco jams. Artwork by Cosmo Knex.

Six LP box set version. Prescription: Word, Sound & Power presents the groundbreaking Chicago based house label's anthology, holding milestone songs. The legendary Prescription Records defined the 1990s deep house sound. This anthology holds numerous classics that have been out of press for years, along with previously unreleased tracks. Chez Damier and Ron Trent started the label in 1993, releasing some two-dozen singles in a four-year span, many of which attained legendary status on the underground scene. Ron Trent talks about the starting Prescription Records: "Chez Damier and I started the label, because we had the idea to take a certain level of fidelity and bring that fidelity to what people call tracks. Tracks being drum orientated Chicago rhythm tracks with a minimalistic melody. We were playing with that idea, expounding a point of that minimalistic aspect and making it more complex." Ron Trent was born in Massachusetts but raised in Chicago, listening to jazz and learning percussion. He began DJing in 1982, playing at area high schools. His first EP, containing the epic instrumental "Altered States", was released on Armando Gallop's Warehouse Records in 1990. Chez Damier (Anthony Pearson) grew up in Chicago, where he danced at the Warehouse as a youth. He left for Detroit in the 1980s, helping to open the Music Institute and working A&R for Kevin Saunderson's label, KMS. Damier and Trent met while Damier was visiting Chicago and immediately hit it off. Today, Prescription Records is cited by countless producers as a major influence. "It's a very dub experimental label... sound bites, samples, rhythms, and a lot of ethereal stuff, too," Trent expounds. "Not to mention. Prescription's embrace of heavy sub-bass," concludes Trent, "It was ahead of its time, definitely." In addition to Damier and Trent, Precription also features: Angora (Peven Everett, Roy Davis Jr.), Anthony Nicholson, USG (Anthony Nicholson, Ron Trent), Monica Elam, Konfusion Kidzz (Anthony Nicholson, Ron Trent), Ani, World, Sky & Universes (Trent), Harry Dennis, Noni (Anthony Pearson). Other-worldly Caribbean electronic dance floor cuts. Arousing prog-zouk and abstract futurism from the French West Indies, by synthesist Claude Rodap, released on vinyl for the first time. In the early eighties, a time where French Caribbean musicians were searching for their own sound, Claude Rodap mixed traditional gwo-ka, bel air, biguine with synthetic sounds, resulting in magical, adventurous outcome. Recorded in the nineties and in 2000, the three dreamy, sensuous tracks on Beletronic are the deliberate result of more than a decade of his experimentation.
