With Ada and Salz remixes. "Oh I remember back in '99... there was something about those sweaty clubs where London 3 piece Baxendale kicked the arse out of electronic clubpop that was desperately vibrant and frighteningly naïve, very end of a century. Something had gotten lost in the post Britpop hangover, and these 3 whiz kids had it pumping through their veins. Keep your 'Bitter Sweet Symphonies,' this is the good stuff, this is music for girls. So here we are, and electronic pop has become increasingly 'de rigeur.' Whatever became of Baxendale is another story, but this one song refuses to die. Maybe it's the 909 kick drum thud, maybe the strange urgency and belief. Maybe it's the 'Heha hey haloahs' or maybe it's the sing along to the chorus the size of Brazil. Increasingly rediscovered in a thirsty clubland, and in this case reworked by Ada, Heiress feat Miss King, Salz, and Jens Friebe & Brockdorff Klanglabor. All the best, Tim Benton, Baxendale"

6 track remix 12" with the following remixers: Hans Nieswandt (of Whirlpool Productions), Brezel Göring (Stereo Total), Bum Kun Cha Youth, Daso, Drei Farben House, Baxendale. "You find within the remix-mini-LP to the incredible debut album Vorher Nachher Bilder of Jens Friebe (on Zickzack, the label which releases the most important records of the so called Neuen Deutschen Welle). Friebe is a bright star on the German pop-sky. His art could be described as a musical and lyrical mixture of people like Tilmann Rossmy, Magnetic Fields, Bernd Begemann, Sterne, Milch, Beat Happening, Blumfeld and Andreas Dorau. All of them managed to keep the special style of Friebe alive, this really touchy mixture of '80s-synthie-pop, classical songwriting, dramatic bohème-melancholia and dandyboy-storytelling, and still go for their own handwriting."

"Two trips to the European outback later, the label with the boat is back bringing Brant's beautiful and timeless Delete Distance as luggage. With its epic measures, Delete Distance reminds one more of Brant's release under the name of FA on Hamburg-based home of Hans Nieswandt, Lawrence and Turner Ladomat, than of his previous releases on Scheinselbständig. The track takes it's time to widely spread its graceful wide-screen beauty and comes out just like an uncut diamond: raw, but so fragile at the same time." Remixes by: Hakan, Libido, Solovyev, and Pal.

"Katrin V and Armin von Milch are the greatest living deads the German electronic-music-scene can offer these days. File them under 'angstpop' -- what is not just a event serial in a club called 'garage' in Berlin pankow. 'Angstpop' also is a synonym for their idea to bring the negativity of wave into the status quo of electronic music. 'Europa' shows how this works out. Milch managed to produce a totally new sound-aesthetic which is not influenced by classic wave-codes like octave-bass and which brings up the energy of the ground zero years. Milch brought creepy gore and frosty electro together. Fucked up and sexy. The voice of Katrin V. is full of references. And when she shouts the hookline 'we are staring into the dead eyes of Europe' it shows clear: this is not about gothic which is based on egocentric-kitsch-inner-strife. This is about black-political-pitiless-expressionism. Under the morbid sounds of a cannibal-movie. 'Zeus in Love' sounds somehow lovely. Like often in life there is the beautiful behind a horror trip. And vice versa."

"Thats right. Bum Khun Cha Youth started in the mid 90ies as a kind of indie-rock outfit. The mission back in the days: kick ass out of all the boring folk bands between Frankfurt and Cologne (the hometown of the five band members) -- which worked out perfectly. The first single was published on the tocotronic-label Rock-O-Tronic. The second one on Ritchie Records. Both releases featured cover designs of Berlin's finest graphic girl Evelin Höhne. On the drums back in the days: Jens Friebe, currently on a big world tour with Berlin's Maximilian Hecker. After five years of indie-boheme-lifestyle and a lot of party excesses it is now time for the Bum Khun Cha Youth reload. Reduced to a duo with a lot of lofi-Pet-Shop-Boys-blood in their veins. New deals are here to make: the lyrics are quite sensitive, the sound is totally mind-weird. Bum Khun Cha Youth 2004 is turbo-hedonism. No time for minimal in this world -- only the testosterone of these two androgynous alcoholics is minimal. Maximal are their hate feelings for the last Peter Licht record -- cause: fun is easily possible for everyone, but style is quite hard to get these days. So: 'we're here to gay. Pardon: stay.'" 6 track EP.

Kompakt-distributed Cologne compilation of electronic music, featuring Reinhard Voigt, Thomas Brinkmann, Mathias Schaffhauser, etc. "The Strandbox has during the past one and a half years become a constant element in our cultural life here in Cologne which we don't want to miss at all. The Strandbox is the mobile bar: Always in movement; discovering new places for us; redefining old ones and not only leading us to newly awakened discussions on public space, but also, quite simply, to a diversified nightlife rich in happenings that we have always been looking for. Sometimes one even gets to visit places which one curses afterwards. Places with a negative, long-time resistant backlash. But we don't want to complain of dilemmas such as this which have nevertheless lead to a product as superb as this one." Artists: Brant, Tommy, Christian S., Reinhard Voigt, Lol-Lee Feat. Tweakin' B., Polaroy, Mathias Schaffhäuser, Bum Khun Cha Youth, Thomas Brinkmann, Slaves Of The Strandbox, Pal, Carlo Peters.
