Dubfire invites Chris Liebing, Truncate, Carl Craig, Drumcell, Nadia Struiwigh, and more to his remix album. EVOLV is a visionary window into the mind of Dubfire, the journey of the "hybrid" being and its evolution. In October 2023, an 11-track debut album was released on his long-standing SCI+TEC imprint. And now, just over a year later, Grammy award winning producer Dubfire returns to that sonic discourse, drafting in an impressive array of names to reinterpret the material, and accompanied by Dubfire's new audio-visual EVOLV show which picked up where the critically acclaimed electronic performance experience HYBRID had left off. The eclectic package will include such notables as Glaskin, Arjun Vagale, Nadia Struiwigh, Mathimidori (dub alias of Mathias Kaden), Maral, Decka, DEAS, Carl Craig, Truncate, Drumcell, Chris Liebing, and Luke Slater as L.B. Dub Corp who have all given the original music in their own unique style. With a career spanning over three decades, Dubfire has achieved global success as an artist with relentless drive, talent, and intuition. Pioneering commercial notoriety came initially as one half of the Grammy Award-winning (2001) duo Deep Dish, before embarking on a truly groundbreaking solo career in 2007. A career filled with timeless tracks include his early works, "RibCage" (2007), "Emissions" (2007), "Roadkill" (2007) and the highly acclaimed "Grindhouse" (2009) remix from Radio Slave which led to a host of other notable projects over the years. Collaborative work highlights include projects with Miss Kitten, Luke Slater, Flug, and Oliver Huntemann, as well as co-producing two songs on Underworld's Barking album. A true artist, he has always been heavily invested in exploring performance technology, unveiled to wide praise with his HYBRID live show. A two-year world tour commenced in 2015 and was followed by his retrospective album, A Decade Of Dubfire (2017), a celebration of his immense output during the first ten years of solo artist stardom.

CHLLNGR is the last single before Dubfire's debut album EVOLV drops. An 11-track visionary into the mind of Dubfire to be released on his long-standing label SCI+TEC. EVOLV's concept? The journey of the "hybrid" being and its evolution since its first appearance in 2015, as part of his two-year world tour following the release of his retrospective release A Decade Of Dubfire. With a career spanning over three decades, Dubfire has achieved global success as an artist with relentless drive, talent, and intuition. Pioneering commercial notoriety came initially as one half of the Grammy award (2001) winning duo Deep Dish, before embarking on a truly groundbreaking solo career in 2007. A career filled with timeless tracks include his early works "Ribcage", "Emissions", "Roadkill" and the highly acclaimed "Exit" with Kiss Kitten. Collaborative work highlights include Luke Slater, Moscoman, Oliver Huntemann, Chris Liebing, Tiga and co-producing two tracks on the legendary Underworld's Barking album. Sonically, the journey so far has been like a dystopian landscape, but "Decent" brings a kaleidoscope of color and sound before dropping into the "CHALLNGR" duo. "CHALLNGR 1.1" is perhaps the most contemporary track on the album. Dubfire picks up the rhythm for a full-on dancefloor focused track. It's no-nonsense techno at its best, with heaps of pure energy. Two versions appear on the album.

Dubfire announces his debut solo album on his SCI+TEC imprint. A career filled with timeless tracks include his early works "Ribcage" (2007), "Emissions" (2007), "Roadkill" (2007) and the highly acclaimed "Exit" (2014) a debut collaboration with Miss Kitten. EVOLV is a visionary trip into the mind of Dubfire to be released on his long-standing label SCI+TEC. It's concept? The journey of the "hybrid" being and its evolution, which kicks off with "Dark Matter" and "Dust & Gas" set a brooding atmosphere. The rougher percussion, and eerie lead in "Dark Matter" is accompanied by a stripped-back sound and glitchy vocals sitting in a spaced-out atmosphere in "Dust & Gas". Its deep and minimal drum work is exceptional. "Escape", a deep, dark and pulsating track that sets the tone for the body of work on the album. Coupled with "Elevation" and it's understated arp and crisp percussion for the second single. "Bottom Dweller" give you two different versions, the original is straight forward, yet effective for a late-night head down cut, where the "Meltdown Mix" takes a minimal path, and faster pace. "Swerve" sees Dubfire return to that stripped-back sound with heavy swinging percussion, a landmark and much-loved element in his music. Two versions appear on the album, "CHALLNGR 1.2" retains the BPM but reigns in the percussion with a snappier approach and a more euphoric warped effect. As music evolves, so does Dubfire. EVOLV is a special project from this pioneering producer showing his interpretation of techno in his own unique vision. Five-LP boxset; matte with front UV spot varnish.

Out in 2020 via SCI+TEC, Kazuya Nagaya's Dream Interpretation (SCITEC 006CD/LP) was an immersive masterclass in ritualistic simplicity. Floating in a cloud of billowing ambiance, it's nine tracks inviting the listener to traverse a broad spectrum of spirit. Now, almost exactly a year later, the Tokyo master returns, this time drafting in an impressive array of names to reinterpret the very same tracks. First up SCI+TEC head honcho Dubfire delivers a wonderfully atmospheric and glitchy rework of "Thanatos", before EVS (the designer and owner of LA jewelry brand Parts of Four), brings things down a level with a dark and hypnotic version of "Mother Wading In The River". Elsewhere German producer VRIL presents a distorted techno remix of "Heathen", the prolific Steve Rachmad puts his own unique spin on the same track, and Argentinian master Flug showcases his magic with two sublime offerings. Also features Cassegrain, Yotam Avni, Intercity Express, Markus Suckut, and Yagya. Marbled vinyl; gatefold sleeve.

SCI + TEC has been successfully growing its family of artists over the last decade, with now over 200 releases, label owner Dubfire continues to nurture new talented producers, as well as those more established. Together the label has created a steady stream of top-notch underground releases year upon year. Next up is this wonky four-tracker from Guti and David Gtronic. Regulars when playing together, this is the debut release from the South Americans as a collaboration team. Opening with stompy "You Will Be Mine" the duo are quickly into their stride with a solid bass groove supported by weird sweeps, 8-bit FX and vocal snips. In dub form, the groove is further stripped back for complete dance floor domination. Over on the flipside, "Acid Ramen" opens with a bongo groove ably assisted by acid touches and percussive energy. Covering bass, mid- and high- frequencies, the interplay of acid layers will make Josh Wink blush! Truly exceptional modern-day acid house. Rounding out the pack, "Pin Pun" is a straight house vibe with full body kit added. Starting out innocently enough, once the acid hits begin the wonk is out for all to see!

"There are dreams that I still remember. Although it has been decades since I had those dreams, they continue to pulsate, circulating their pellucid blood, vital and fresh as if dreamt just last night" Singing bowls, bronze bells, and gongs resonate through the mindful layers of Japanese percussionist and ambient producer Kazuya Nagaya's music. In Zen Buddhism, bells are believed to wash away the cares of the mortal world, as the listener follows the resonance of the bell into the silence and stillness within all beings. It is a penetration into the depths of one's self. Nagaya's music is rooted in Buddhist (Zenzhu) philosophy and sensibilities unique to Japan. Concurrently, his work and interests are also contemporary and traverse a broad spectrum of cultures. "There is one thing I have known all along. Someday I will have to face the messages from my unconscious. I will have to decipher their meaning and change my life accordingly. The messages from my unconscious are like a knocking on the door of my mind. For many years the sound reverberated, but I payed it no attention" Nagaya started out to pursue his talents in literature and is also an award-winning writer and a connoisseur on Japanese Literature, Buddhist Folktales, and Zen Philosophical Works. These interests breathed life into his music, and the sensibilities and philosophical views which he developed during his literary years are now reflected in most of his music today. He spends half the week teaching courses at his University in Tokyo, and the other half composing and writing in his home in the Japanese Alps, where he resides with his wife, and many adopted cats and dogs. Dream Interpretations was composed at a difficult time in Nagaya's life. While he worked, he listened closely to the sound of the knocking that reverberated from the paths of his unconsciousness and transformed that into music. In other words, this music is his dream interpretation. CD version includes a 48cmx24cm poster.

A decade deep into its ongoing investigations, documenting and pushing the sonic frisson and fusion between science and technology, SCI+TEC remain at the very forefront of electronic music. Its feet firmly on the dancefloor, its spirit deep inside the machines, its sights set on the future: Dubfire's label has continuously forged its own deep furrow and has been doing so from day one. With breakthrough Dubfire releases such as Roadkill (2007) and I Feel Speed (2007), SCI+TEC has managed to create a whole new framework for 21st century techno. All the while SCI+TEC has consistently championed and encouraged new and unsung talent from around the world, amplifying legions of rising names; Davide Squillace, Paul Ritch, SHADED, Simi, Delete, Harvard Bass, Joop Junior, and countless more include SCI+TEC releases in their rich histories. This precision balance of stark sonic signature, technical ideology, and nurturing new ideas and talent has led to SCI+TEC's perpetual momentum into every house and techno DJ's playlists and sets for the last ten years. Be it the label's penchant for deep, undulating subby grooves or its passion for warehouse-razing thunder-powered techno, the SCI+TEC sound covers every corner of the floor and every chapter of the night; as proved by the label's many world tours. And proved once again by this fittingly stacked anniversary album. Ten tracks to celebrate ten years from ten of the label's most exciting artists, every track brings home the SCI+TEC message: The breath-taking atmospheres of Alex Mine's album scene-setter "In The Name Of What"; Wigbert's detailed drum momentum on "Multiclock"; the soulful allure of Carlo Lio's "Because Of You"; the hazy slow-burning groove smolders of Hector & David Gtronic's "Saki"; Raul Facio's subversion of Dubfire's early rising turbine tension on "Malo"; the eerie juxtaposition of acidic icicles and groaning elephantine bass on Rosper's "Revenge"; SHADED's alien up-pitched funk on "Crayzy"; the soaring synths and cosmic undertones of Johnny Trika's "One Rainy Wish" and the pulverizing kickdrum funk of Mr. Bizz's "Blue Velvet"; not to mention the deep, hypnotic swing of Dubfire's restrained and dubbed-out house groove "Swerve". Each track an odyssey in itself, they complement and tessellate to reveal a much wider vision of the past, present, and, most importantly, the future. Consistently rooted but constantly rising; this album isn't celebrating the last ten years of SCI+TEC, it's setting you up for the next ten years to come.

Eminent SCI + TEC founder Dubfire returns with another chaos-conjuring techno composition. Dubfire finally unleashes "Dust Devil"."Dust Devil" is all about precision momentum. A move that Dubfire's made his signature, you can physically feel movement and destination throughout. Maksim Dark provides a remix of Dubfire's classic "Rabid". The young Russian talent Maksim takes the listener back to the roots of Ali's journey as Dubfire, stripping out the hypnotic percussion of the original while retaining the intoxicating textures and twisted processed vocal, fixing the focus on space-aged, widescreen synth strikes and relentless low-end pulsation.

Dubfire and Miss Kittin scored another big hit with their second collaboration Ride (SCITEC 171EP, 2016). Here, they unleash a pack of remixes. Solomun's remix boldly displays his affinity for heads-down techno. It centers around ticking percussion and pulsating synth delays with a throbbing low end. Matthew Dear dons his Audion guise to remind the listener how instrumental he was in formulating that oddball techno sound a decade ago, making good use of the vocals in the heady breakdowns and matching them with unsettlingly wavering synth sirens and an almost tribal bass stomp.

Dubfire and Miss Kitten take the listener on another late night road trip. Presented in Miss Kittin's own artwork, the two long term friends and musical kindred spirits cover a side each with two version journeys you'll never forget. Kittin jumps straight on the autobahn in a tank-shaped techno hummer. Thumping the tarmac down with every gas-guzzling kick drum, lights blur and trace and the mission gathers momentum. Dubfire brings the listener to the trusty widescreen house plains. Roads running parallel with the grand, emotional highways; Unhurried, restrained and timelessly crisp and futuristic.

Carlo Lio lines up his inaugural compilation, and in doing so extends SCI+TEC's burgeoning Past, Present, Future series with a selection of tracks exclusively from the label's vaults. Following label-head Dubfire's initial installment, Carlo Lio has been given free rein to utilize anything from the cavernous SCI+TEC catalog in any way he sees fit. In keeping with the label's philosophy, much of the content has been re-worked especially for the mix. The results are far beyond impressive. Canadian sensation Carlo Lio is riding high on a wave crest following a number of years of much-lauded output. Through pushing a distinct sound that has been expertly nurtured by the omnipotent SCI+TEC, Carlo's productions have become a staple in the record boxes of the world's leading artists. This, coupled with his complex and innovative mixing style, has earned him fans the world over. These creative facets have been harnessed into a release that clearly defines the "Carlo Lio Experience" in 2012. Rather than serving a generic track by track mix, Carlo has been sure to reinterpret the tracks so they are representative of his signature sound. The aim has been for the mix to effectively bleed his production style, his transition style, and ultimately, his groove. Tracks that would not typically be found in a Carlo Lio mix have been cut up and re-worked to fit his aural output. Part 1's focus is the "Past" of SCI+TEC, and the tone is set by Kaden's remix of Squillace's tech-house smash, "One Lobster Please." The mix gives a fantastic journey through the various high points of the label, with Carlo's approach evident in the dual use of Dubfire's "Rabid" before Luca Bacchetti's remix of "Crazy Madness" adds a playful element to the mix. Part 2 then deals with the present sound of the label, while also nodding towards the future. Notable highlights are crowd-favorite Paul Ritch's "Common Sense," with its brilliantly-worked sample. The breadth of SCI+TEC is aptly demonstrated here with Nick Curly's remix of Zoo Brazil's "Slob" and its eerie top-line sitting effortlessly with SHDWPLAY's "Subconscious." Other artists include: Electric Rescue, Plasmic Honey, Martinez, Federico Grazzini & Alex Neri, Andy Chatterley & Nic Fanciulli, MiniCoolBoyz, Marka T, Sebrok, Radio Slave, Rocha & Lewinger, Steven Parker, Reset Robot, Marco Effe, Echo Vacio, Sinisa Tamamovic, Macromism, DJ Simi, Danilo Vigorito, Alberto Pascual, The Junkies, Christopher Bleckmann and Francesco Bergomi.

"Smith & Selway really do know how to bring the funk, a factor which always makes the best techno. Their tracks are unmistakable. 'Push Factor' bounces, while driving (pushing!) the floor hard and as well as the original, the boys also provide us with a 'Big Room Dub'. On remix duty is Smith & Selway and Dubfire favorite Olivier Raymond, aka Oxia. Fresh from his Karambolage release on Systematic, Oxia turns in a fantastic reworking of 'Push Factor': stripping it back to the bone and delivering his own fresh take on the original."

Remixes by Audion, UNKLE, and Booka Shade! "'I Feel Speed' -- the third release by SCI+TEC -- offers a rousing progressive house interpretation of an overlooked Love & Rockets song with Dubfire on vocal duty. A substantial nod to his musical beginnings, 'I Feel Speed' is further proof that artistically, Dubfire isn't afraid to push boundaries, something for which he's been increasingly heralded. While the 'Dubfire Original Club Mix' is not a true reflection of Dubfire's current sound, the remix package certainly is! The original is based around live drums, rock riff and a vocal from Dubfire himself that generates real emotion. First on remix duty comes the awesome Booka Shade who expertly chop up the vocals and efx, matching them with a driving electro rhythm and their trademark synths. With a super fresh remix from Matthew Dear in his Audion mode, the track pushes the boundaries of modern sound. Once again, Dear delivers a quirky remake that is totally different yet refreshingly upbeat -- tailored completely for the main room floors!! UNKLE completes the package with a torrential progressive house take."
