"The grime scene finally finding the legs to represent beyond the confines of the UK, hitting America and increasingly frequent dates all over Europe. Britain's latest musical hybrid could be set to step up to the plate, as hip hop finds itself increasingly saddled with conflict by its corporate status. Matt Shadetek who through his work organizing raves in New York and spreading the music around the world has been called a 'reverse ambassador to the scene,' steps up here seeking to provide an entry point to the vocal grime scene -- in tandem with DJ partner Sheen, and with the full support of the Jah Mek The World and Neckle Camp families. For these two mixes Matt Shadetek and Sheen have coordinated some of the finest lyrical gangster business, where Jammer and the Neckle Camp's members freestyles blend against Ears -- ''ear 'em scare 'em big on the roads' presiding as host, while Flamin, Knuckles, Al Blaze and Spooky all collide off the bombshell opener with Sheen on decks. Matt has selected and mixed the second half of the CD, seeking to provide an overview of some of the vocal highlights of the scene in recent years. The 41 cuts here come closest to replicating the live grime experience -- the trick comes from the fluidity of the mix and the energy provided by the freestyles -- bringing in elements from basement, sound system culture and a completely UK assault on hip-hop."

"This is just so righteous -- tripleweight heavy heavy beats and hip hop grimey variations to die for -- what are those Shadetek kids on?? We start with producers XingnFox who provide yet another example of the new school of NYC hip hop producers blowing the bloated old jacks out of the water. Tame One is an ex-member of the classic duo The Artifacts alongside El Da Sensai, now a fundamental part of The infamous Leak Brothers alongside new Def Jux signee Cage. Para One is well known as a member and stupid DJ of mad as a hatstand French crew TTC (Big Dada). French rap ain't just about MC Solaar anymore, the scratch work here is sick beyond belief . Add to this Tes of Lex notoriety and Para One's excellent forthcoming remix for the Stacs Of Stamina's debut Werk-discs 12", and you have an unassailable selection of quality. ATKI2 is a new name to conjure with within the Shadetek camp -- busting broken grimey rhythms, and reflecting a Shadetek fascination with the UK underground which will culminate in some top secret, extra special projects before very long. Zesto is another name to the crew. Sick, twisted bass killers."
