SONUOS 003EP
|
Gianclaudio Hashem Moniri and Giuseppe Carlini formed the group Plaster in Rome, Italy in 2008 and have released EPs, albums, and been on compilations with their sharp-edged sounds, deep beats and funky syncopations since 2010 on labels such as Kvitnu, Crazy Language, Stroboscopic Artefacts, and Touchin' Bass. "Circular Mechanism" starts off with a dark vibe with drippy notes flickering in the soundscape, just before one of the bass lines kicks in teamed with the bass drum in syncopated perfection. The Substance remix, meanwhile, is saturated deep in dub.

Arne Weinberg is the man behind the alias Valanx. He also works under the name Onmutu Mechanicks. "Those Who Will Be Held Responsible" is a dark, brooding affair with its bass sound keeping the slow rhythm ticking in a dark soundscape. "Amongst the Mortals" takes you on a slow walk among the mortals and is nothing for the faint-hearted. "Daughters of the Everfire" boasts a hard bass sound. Remix by Yves De Mey.

Pokk! is Martin J. Thompson, whose blog featuring a daily new sound from his Clavia Nord Modular inspired this release. "FLFLP" is a slow beat driven dub track. He's previously worked with Lucia H. Chung as Mimosa Moize (Murmur/Dragon's Eye Recordings). "Karen" has a Kraftwerk-ian hi-hat on top of a slow ebb and flow. Mokira (Raster-Noton/Type) remixes "FLFLP," stripping away the beat structure and replacing it with a punctuated sub bass. On white vinyl.
