Part Five of Sound of Vast's Five Year Anniversary series welcomes the return of label regular Vid with "Cherry Flowers," an eleven-and-a-¬ minute journey winding through modulating percussion, sub swells, breathy vocals and bubbling synths before Subb-an's "Type 3" concludes the series with dynamic drums, wandering bass licks and hypnotizing atmospherics. Sound Of Vast marks its five year anniversary this year and to celebrate it's offering up five special various artist packages across 2019, featuring material from the likes of Vid, The Mole, Cinthie, Shinichiro Yokota, San Proper, Akiko Kiyama, Com Sin aka Cosmin TRG, Subb-an, and more. Here the focus is on the core family as well as some new additions, celebrating the artists involved over the past five years and looking towards the future with some fresh, hotly tipped acts. This project also sees a new design concept for the imprint from London-based David Surman, using his painting installation project Paintings For The Cat Dimension which explores the motif of the cat as emblematic of Internet aesthetics, a place where all painting styles and modes now exist non-hierarchically as pure information. Edition of 250.

Kicking off the third instalment of the series is San Proper's "Your Call", a robust yet dream house workout fueled by choppy bass hits, fluttering synth licks, and a shuffled analog drum groove. Barcelona based trio Triad follow with "Room N", a hypnotic house cut fueled by ethereal chord swells, modulating percussion, and vacillating bass tones. Tokyo's Iori Wakasa then rounds out the release with "Rave In A Village", which, as the name would suggest, embraces a classic house feel via a winding piano chord, twinkling piano melodies, crunchy drums, and mesmeric pads throughout. The 5 Years project also sees a new design concept for the imprint from London's David Surman's painting installation project "Paintings For The Cat Dimension" which "explores the motif of the cat as emblematic of internet aesthetics, a place where all painting styles and modes now exist non-hierarchically as pure information." Sound Of Vast marks its five years anniversary this year and to celebrate its offering up five special various artist packages across 2019 limited to 250 copies each, featuring material from the likes of Vid, The Mole, Cinthie, Shinichiro Yokota, San Proper, Akiko Kiyama, Com Sin aka Cosmin TRG, Subb-an, and more.

For the fourth installment in the series Sound Of Vast welcome Berlin's queen of house, Cinthie, onto its roster with "6am". As the name suggests, it's a heads-down, emotive slice of house aimed at those special moments in the early hours of the dance floor, fusing a robust analog drum workout with bright strings, jazzy piano lines, and driving low-end. Akiko Kiyama's "Dirt Specks" follows, a typically unique offering from the Tokyo based experimentalist, built around swirling bass notes, hypnotizing processed vocals and glitched-out percussion before label co-founder Red Pig Flower's "Mental Adventure" brings Eastern-tinged plucked strings and vacillating atmospherics into the limelight alongside rounded subs and a bumpy rhythmic drive to create a smooth, hypnotic trip. Sound Of Vast marks its five years anniversary this year and to celebrate its offering up five special various artist packages across 2019 limited to 250 copies each, featuring material from the likes of Vid, The Mole, Cinthie, Shinichiro Yokota, San Proper, Akiko Kiyama, Com Sin aka Cosmin TRG, Subb-an, and more. Tokyo-based Far East recording artist Shinichiro Yokota opens 5 Years Anniversary Series 02 with "I Know You Like" a harkening back to the days of soulful, musical house courtesy of jazzy synth lines, warm chords and choppy bass running alongside a swinging drum groove and vocal hooks uttering the track's title. The Mole follows with "A Simple Day", turning in a typically raw and funk-infused workout via dusty drum sounds, looped guitar licks, warbling low-end tones, and an underlying psychedelic feel.

Red Pig Flower's Though Crime EP is conceptually based around George Orwell's classic novel, 1984, backed with a remix from Perlon trio Wareika. "Thought Crime" opens with murky atmospheric textures, skippy hat patterns, and shuffled organic drums grooves. "No Fear" follows, laying focus on a bumpy drum groove, modulating synth swells, ethereal tension-building pads, and a sub bass groove. Wareika rework "Thought Crime" -- the trio shine light on chuggy bass grooves and jazz-tinged, ever-unfolding drums. "Since 1984" is an interlude of bubbling arpeggios, dreamy piano melodies, and swirling, dubbed-out echoes.

Here San Proper and The Mole return following solo EPs, this time with Hreno for a three-track EP, Friendly Tears. "Friendly Tears" leading figure in the house scene, Dekmantel regular Tom Trago; we're treated to soul-drenched house driven by swinging organic drums, infectious funk licks and hooky synth lines before the "Chunkless Mix" strips things back to focus on the '80s tinged synth work, delayed vocal murmurs and minimalistic percussion. "On The Floor" rounds out the package, retaining a similar aesthetic with choppy guitar melodies, penetrating bass stabs, crunchy rhythms and resonant arpeggio synths ebbing and flowing dynamically throughout.

Sound Of Vast's first release in 2016. DJ Sodeyama's The People In Fog project shows his '90s old school house side. This release contains not only the original version of "Higher", but also includes melodic and dreamy remix made by the Japanese house renaissance Soichi Terada, and a "Dub Mix" from The People In Fog with a bit modern groove. The powerful vocal from a killer '90s tune and well-crafted beat production from each legendary house artists, this EP definitely has the energy to bring people in the higher level of dance.

Egal 3 returns to Sound of Vast, following 2014's The Shades (SOV 001EP), with two even stronger tracks. "Altfelnu" opens with a strong beat and a deep, dubby bassline before a kicking piano melody unexpectedly appears -- the combination between deep bass and piano is just perfect. On analog-only track "Sidebyside," you can feel the deep, tight groove made with an analog drum machine and a modular synth -- guaranteed to work on the floor, touching peoples' ears and hearts.
