Stag-O-Lee presents part seven of the extremely successful Trashcan Records series, which is dedicated to obscure and forgotten vinyl treasures from the '50s and early '60s. The original 45s come from the impressive collection of Fedor, a collector and hunter from Amsterdam, who has rummaged through thousands of boxes of used vinyl at flea markets in the Dutch metropolis over the last 25 years. As usual, this release is structured thematically. Side 1 is entitled "Wacky Weirdos" and is a hodgepodge of obscure weirdness that, on the one hand, puts a smile on your face and, on the other hand, raises the question of what was allowed to be pressed onto small vinyl in these days. Side 2 is exactly what "Moody Instros" says. Instrumentals between mod jazz and rhythm and blues, from lo-fi spooky to gentle crawlers. Of course everything is mega and can't be found on any of the numerous other compilations to date. Featuring The Sound Offs, The Commanders, Angeline & Hawaii's Teen Towners, Dave S. Trio, John Bean, Mr Glob, Tony Martell, Neil Darrow, The Escapades, Mike Murray, Pearl Reaves & Paul Farano Trio, and The Desert Rats.

This is the second volume in the new Voodoo Mambosis And Other Tropical Diseases series on Stag-O-Lee. Four volumes are planned. The original records come from the record box of esteemed friend Duke Jens-O-Matic, who has been a graphic designer, internationally acclaimed DJ, collector and hunter for decades. What does a friend of the obscure 7"es do when he already has everything in the field of Rhythm and Blues etc.? He is looking for other fields of activity. Different countries, different music, different influences. So does Jens-O-Matic. He made a little trip around the world here, let his new love of cumbia flow in, mixed in a pinch of voodoo, reactivated some old blues heroes, plus some exotica -- it never hurts. The great art is to combine these on paper disparate elements in such a way that something unique and consistently exciting is created. Voodoo Mambosis And Other Tropical Diseases is the best example of this! Featuring Pedro Laya, Buddy Ace, Elena Madera, Muddy Waters, Tamps Red, Noro Morales, Sylvestre Mendes, Katherine Durham, The Sultans, Machito, King Eric, Lina De Lima, Billy Mure, and Joe Swift.

The original records come from the collection of esteemed Duke Jens-O-Matic, a graphic artist, internationally acclaimed DJ, collector and hunter for decades. What does a friend of obscure 7" do when he already has everything in the field of rhythm and blues etc.? He looks for other fields of activity. Other countries, other music, other influences. Just like Jens-O-Matic. He took a little trip around the world for Voodoo Mambosis, incorporating his new love of cumbia, mixing in a pinch of voodoo, reactivating some old blues heroes and adding some exotica -- that never hurts. Subtitled: The (Second) Single Compilation 2015-2021. This record arrives exactly ten years after the first one, the highly successful Witches, Spiders, Frogs & Holes album (STAGO 068LP). At this moment, most "with it" or "aware" folks in our retro scene have common knowledge and informed opinions of that strange musical alchemist known as Mr. Marcel Bontempi. His phenomenal career arc from the 1998 debut of 1960s-beat band combo, The Montesas, to his "monster" solo hit of 2013, "Dig A Hole" (on Sleazy Records), has seen Marcel's star rise ever higher as a steady stream of his popular and clever recordings have been snatched up by an ever-widening fan base. Live stage appearances by Marcel and his gal "Friday," the effervescent Miss Ira Lee, and Marcel's own "hillbilly" gang, Dr. Bontempi's Snake Oil Company, at clubs and festivals throughout Europe (and even in Nashville and Las Vegas) have deservedly helped to spread the Bontempi infamy and infatuation far and wide. So, here is the second compilation of the wizard of rhythm -- packed full with his 7" output (all limited and sold out by now) from 2015 until 2021 and some unreleased songs and musical themes for theater plays among others. LP version includes bonus 7" of unreleased material; gatefold cover with info and photos.

Stag-O-Lee is proud to continue the DJ-Set series with compilation by cult DJ Mr. Rudy. DJ Rudy blew the label away with his selection of tunes at the Goezot festival in Belgium in September 2021. And when he sent the label the list of festivals and weekenders he played at, they were even more impressed. So, Stag-O-Lee invited him to compile what is Volume 7 in the DJ Series on Stag-O-Lee. Features Red (Hot) Russell, Jay Headley, Lenny Capello and The Dots, Bernhard Byers, Freddy Cannon, Donnie Brookes, The Jumpers, Parker Cunningham, Harold Shutters and His Rocats, Frankie Lee Sims, Cousin Leroy, Lance Roberts, Ray Smith, Dale Wright, Tommy Roe, The Phantoms, The Cousins, Jimmy Reed, Larry Trider, Bruce Channel, Farris Wilder and His Band, Bob and The Rockabillies, Gene Kennedy, Ivor Fisher, Joe Melson, Chancellors, Tommy Danton and The Echoes, The Stompers, Bobby Peterson Quintet, and Dean and Jean.
"When I first heard DJ Rudy play, I could instantly feel the buzz on the dancefloor and see the excitement amongst the dancers. As the night progressed, being a DJ myself, I kept a keen eye on the clearly popular and friendly guy delivering the tunes --many of which (to my delight) I had never even heard before and the dance floor fillers kept coming, well put together and smoothly delivered. At last, I thought, a DJ who knows what the dancers want, isn't afraid to play a really wide mix of rockin' genres, (from rockabilly and r n' b to early sixties garage bands from Belgium!) and was not someone trying to impress with a small box of ultra-rare 45s -- he wasn't in the DJ booth to please himself, he was there to please the crowd and give them what they wanted. Since then, Rudy has played many sets for me at the Rockabilly Rave and is a regular DJ on the international rockin' scene. And the best part of my running into him all those years ago is that he is one of the nicest, warmest, passionate guys the scene has. Always willing to help, always with a huge smile and a kind word and always something positive to contribute. This album is a great taste of what Rudy has brought to the scene. It proves that rockin' tunes can be different and diverse, but if you pick the right ones it's always a rockin' party!" Jerry Chatabox (Oct 2021)

Here's Dusty Ballroom's third set of sides -- a rather eclectic, swingin' blend of some 1940s jump blues, '50s exotic mambo, kinky doo-wop, wild eastern surf, and Hawaiian Rock n' Roll, a coupla burlesque instrumentals and even a bit of groovy twist and soul. This record is part of an ongoing series dedicated to some often overlooked golden age dancefloor thrillers. Stag-O-Lee hope you dig this as much as they do and perhaps you will tune in on the next volume as well. Elmo Lewis is part of the Dusty Ballroom collective, shakin' the Berlin analog music scene since 2008. As mentioned on Vol. 1 (have you got it yet?) (STAGO 120LP, 21018), over time the group need to give nods and winks to the staff of several venues, lots of live artists wonderfully dedicated to old music, a few select DJs and of course those jumpin' and jivin' cats and kittens oddly enough returning to our all-nighters -- you all rock and roll! After kicking around in indie bands during the '90s, he started DJing and turned his focus towards collecting African American music forms in their original 7" format. Check out his incredible YouTube channel to hear the results of this obsession. Fonsoul has also contributed superb mixes to Jester Wild, Jukebox Jam, Buzzsaw Joint, Cool Cat, and A Wamba Buluba. He's been running the Double Cookin' club for over a decade and is a regular guest at clubs and weekenders throughout Europe. Mace was born and bred in Stoke-on-Trent. From the Mod revival scene he got into '60s soul and R&B. He's been relieving northern soul record dealers of gritty and bluesy 45s for years. His passion for finding obscure '50s blues and '60s R&B drew him to record fairs in the USA. Now he makes a living trading vinyl. A DJ since his late teens, Mace has put on many events, including The Federal R&B Club in Crewe. He's also a resident DJ at Sheffield's legendary Pow Wow. Features Buddy Johnson And His Orchestra, Big Tiny Kennedy And His Orchestra, Little Arthur Mathews, Solomon Burke, Robert T. Smith With Toby Pride's Orch., Jimmie Raney & Slim Slaughter, Henry Moore With Willard Burton And Orchestra, Mel Alexander And Movin Master's Band, Paul Gayten, Little David, Blues Slim, Little Ray, Mojo Watson, Sam Baker, Charles Sheffield, and Freddy King. 180 gram, yellow vinyl; hand-numbered.

Stag-O-Lee continues the DJ-Set series with compilation by cult DJ and master of few compilations Gay Mayall. Liner notes: "As a tasty contribution to your vinyl LP collection, this double album explores four avenues that reflect aspects of Gaz's Rockin' Blues club. Founded July 3rd, 1980, now celebrating 40 years of fun and dancing at London's Number One Blues dance. Originally at Gossips in the basement of 69 Dean Street, with its entrance on Meard St., the cobbled alley that links it with Wardour Street in the heart of Soho, traditionally the hub of clubland and red light district in London's West End. After DJing and presenting bands there for over 14 years, I moved the regular Thursday club night round the corner to St. Moritz, 159 Wardour Street. Another great Soho basement dive with a huge history. The choice of music in this particular selection contains two fundamental styles of Rhythm and Blues oriented boogie music that influenced the world. The post war era of black dance music was driven by R&B that was the inspiration for the rock n' roll of the 1950s. Here you have a hardcore slice of Black rock & roll, a side of rockin' early '50s R&B, it's precursor on one platter. On the next disc you'll hear a bunch of moving, exciting and at times frenzied '50s gospel. The idiom where most R&B and black rock n' roll and soul stars learned their art and cut their teeth. I was asked for this project to choose a bunch of Jamaican tunes to illustrate the role Jamaica's music has played in influencing the style and direction of Gaz's Rockin' Blues. These tracks are drawn from the very earliest days, at the inception of ska in the late '50s when Ja artists, having fell in love with US R&B, created their own take on it. I hope you enjoy this album for many years to come. Treasure it as I and all at Gaz's Rockin Blues have treasured these tracks. 40 years and still going strong!" Features Little Richard, Cledus Harrison, Screamin' Joe Neal, Pretty Boy, Jackie Brenston, Dave Bartholomew, James Brown, Lowell Fulson, Jimmy Witherspoon, Brownie McGhee, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Bob Gaddy, Floyd Dixon, Sonny Knight, The Flying Clouds, Sensational Nightingales, The Pilgrim Travelers, The Gospel Clefs, Brother Joe May, Bessie Griffin, Archie Brownlee, Owen Gray, Count Ossie Afro Combo, Rico's Combo, The Blues Busters, The Moonlighters, Theophilus Beckford, and Duke Reid and His Group.
