Red Sun's fourth LP is a declaration of love for hidden places, both internal and geographical, which, precisely because of their unknown allure and insecurity, inspire profound reflections and silent catharsis. The seven tracks are imbued with a sound that is at times harsh and angular, yet always cultivates a dreamlike and sometimes epic imagery. It is the first album with vocals by the talented Elisa Brusati (then the singer of Noema) and lyrics by drummer and synth player Federico Rivoli. This choice has strengthened the band's cinematic and expressive inspiration, which in previous albums was entirely instrumental. The guitar and bass parts complement a less prominent use of synths and keyboards compared to the last album, From Sunset to Dawn although there is no shortage of themes and long psychedelic digressions, such as in the songs "Hidden Places" and "Sleeping Brain." The artwork is complemented by photography by Nicola Neso and designed by graphic designer Manlio Tenaglia, inspired by Federico Rivoli, who personally carved the font used for the song titles and the band's logo into the wall of the old mill where Red Sun has its rehearsal space. All this gives strength and coherence to the artistic project, which aims to describe hidden and time-worn places for which we cherish love and which are imbued with memories and precious details.

Here is the second studio album by the German psychedelic rock band The Citadel. It is a curious mixture of musical styles reminiscent of the time around 1967, when bands experimented in the studio and paved new paths. So maybe, the album title Dawns on Mental Highways reflects the stance towards their music. Or maybe it hints at something different. Who can tell? All you need to do is listen, and there is a lot to hear: The singer seems to have a fragile voice, yet shouts her Dylanesque lyrics angrily from time to time. The organ player soaks half of the songs with a classic acid sound. The guitar player acts a folky one, throwing in acoustic tunes and flute, before bashing into heavy electric riffs. The bass player is unusually jumpy on his Tropicana-fused lines while the drummer dances and stomps easily as needed. A strange record indeed, especially for young listeners not familiar with its roots. The Citadel think it is time again to take a trip into psychedelic rock. Let it blow your mind!

LP version. Doomedelic instrumental space prog rockers L'ira Del Baccano are back with their official fifth full length album on Subsound Records The Praise of Folly. Guitarist Alessandro Santori says about the album: "We are very excited to finally release these three songs that we have worked hard to arrange on over the past two years. Once again we invite the listener to join us on a journey beyond the constraints of song form and genre, and to dive into The Praise of Folly like reading a book where you never know what will happen when you turn the page. From the production point of view we pushed even more on the live aspect and sounds of the single performance. We decided to not edit different takes of each song but to choose which one to use on the base of general feeling and then add some post arrangements to emphasize specific passages."

Panoramica Degli Abissi is a plunge into the heart of a hallucination, sinking and resurfacing to become a wild, sprawling three-dimensional project on the border between audio, video, literature and illustration. It is the second album by To Die On Ice, with sounds and influences that retrieve and delve deeper into the nebulous Lynch Core of the first record, adding -- to the disturbed Black-Lodge-style sensuality, the minimalist noir jazz at ten thousand atmospheres, the soul-blues dilations and sudden vocal lacerations -- a few further acts of madness, such as an a cappella screamo-gospel moment, a touch of Fred Bongusto in a doom key, and two features with Francesca Bono and Vespertina. Also available on turquoise color vinyl (SSR 165LTD-LP).

Featuring Svetlana Spajić-Latinović on vocals (also lead singer for the amazing trio Gordan featuring Guido Möbius and producer Rabih Beaini), Back to Hermetics and Martial Arts Vol. 1 is an epic adventure through the invisible worlds of Neoplatonic cinema. From mockumentaries about the lost books of occult correspondences, through psychedelic surf noir chambers with ritual suppers, and giallo screams of the world squished by the chthonic grasp, to the original footage of the victorious Belgrade-Dharamsala bicycle marathon of 1931, Morriconesque spaghetti western theophanies, and the saving grace of the Heart pierced by Seven Swords, the album delivers nine movie themes that combine various musical elements into a unique work of cinematic alchemy. Also available on color vinyl (SSR 162LTD-LP).

For the Love, the Death and the Poetry is the fourth studio album by songwriter, singer, and guitarist Nero Kane. A folk liturgy that oscillates between yearnings for eternal love, fascination with death, and spectral poetry. Psychomagic mysticism, stripped-down blues, apocalyptic drones, guitar arpeggios, twilight ballads, shamanic rites, solemn organ, and string notes traverse the dark expanses of skeletal American deserts in an extended and obsessive ritual. Echoes of a romantic past evoke the eternal power of art and love in contrast to the ephemeral vanity of existence, in a journey of redemption through the blinding and dark lands of good and evil. Kane's dark folk-tinged vocals and guitars are accompanied by the mellotron and the voice of long-time collaborator and multi-talented artist Samantha Stella, creating a unique and personal style defined as cathartic, desert-like, disturbing, ritualistic, and psychedelic. References to the apocalyptic folk of Michael Gira/Jarboe/Swans, the gospel spirituality of Nick Cave, the perdition of Johnny Cash, the tragic poems of Nico -- evoked in Stella's icy spoken word, as highlighted by critics -- the visionary nature of Jodorowsky and the sick sound of Italian occult psychedelia, the latter being an element that characterizes. Also available on black (SSR 163LP) and white color vinyl (SSR 163LTD).

Introducing The Citadel to international audiences means re-introducing retro '60s aestheticism with a fresh touch of modern energy. The young quintet formed in the South German city of Erlangen in 2022 and built up their material through jams and experimentations. They have developed an almost two-hour live set of their own songs which evoke psychedelic rock, folk and an overall vintage flair transported by their warm charisma on stage. Touring all around the Nuremberg metropolitan region, The Citadel have now achieved several festival gigs all over the country while mixing their second studio album. Their 2024 debut album, The Foundation Cycle is now repressed by Subsound Records. With their roots in the psychedelic and progressive rock scene of the 1960s and '70s, The Citadel recorded their first complete musical statement in their drummer's studio, self-producing it and providing their own cover art. It is a fully self-made joint effort in transmitting vintage style sounds over new compositions. Blending psychedelic rock with folk and blues elements, narrative lyricism, electronic organ and flowing guitar solos, the result is unpolished, direct music: melodic, naïve, strange, full of groove and atmosphere -- take some time to listen in and enjoy! Also available on orange color vinyl (SSR 160LTD).

redrum (with a lowercase r) is the original music for the dance performance of the same name by the gruppo nanou (with lowercase g and n). Composed in 2023 and staged in 2024, it won the Ubu Prize for best dance show of the year. The collaboration between Bruno Dorella and gruppo nanou has been going on for many years now, and for this show the music is almost entirely electronic, with rare inserts of guitar, bass and vocals. Bruno Dorella plays, produces and mixes the entire work, in a process that, as with the previous Paradiso, involves continuous dialogue with choreographers Rhuena Bracci and Marco Valerio Amico, and with the bodies of the company's dancers.

In the summer of 2015, against the backdrop of the Italian Dolomites, a friendship between two European heavy underground bands was struck. Now, Roman psych-doom formation L'Ira Del Baccano and Tilburgian doom rock outfit Yama join forces in a musical collaboration: their split album Tempus Deorum, released on Subsound Records. The background is less picturesque, the bands see this international collaboration as an artistic response to emerging nationalistic navel-gazing. L'Ira's contribution comprises a drawn-out instrumental psych doom jam, in which they fully expand the concept of an ever-evolving song, taking a theme and leading it on a dynamic roller-coaster journey, reshaping it through the heaviness of doom, the tension, physicality, and psychedelia of improvisation, and the precision of progressive rock. Yama brings some of their doomiest tracks to the table and experiments with psychedelic drone elements, in collaboration with producer David Luiten (Autarkh). Tempus Deorum ('time of the gods') is not only an allegorical congregation of deities, it is a bastion for the confluence between two manifestations of psychedelic heaviness. Also available on black vinyl (SSR 153LP) and black/green vinyl (SSR 153LTD-LP).

Sigillum S have been exploring unknown territories among extreme electronics, fringe acoustics and occultist noise since 1985. With an original line-up of Italian experimental electronic composers Eraldo Bernocchi, Paolo L. Bandera, and Luca Di Giorgio, throughout their 40-year gestation, the noise merchants have worked with musicians including Ain Soph, The Sodality, Gerstein, Iugula-Thor, Out Of Body Experience, Bill Laswell, Zu, Crisis, Thomas Felhmann, Gudrun Gut, Toshinori Kondo, SH Fernando and the Wordsoundcrew, Dive, Colin Edwin, sculptor Milo Sacchi, multimedia artist Petulia Mattioli, and many others. Sigillum S have been constantly evolving. The current formation consists of original members Eraldo Bernocchi and Paolo L. Bandera with the addition of multi-instrumentalist Bruno Dorella and visual artist Petulia Mattioli. On Aborted Towns, The Deadly Silence Before Utopia they continue to develop their own brand of post-industrial audio investigations, employing sound as a tool for mapping the subconscious and a reconfiguration of cognitive processes. Tracks such as "Lemur Agony" and "Forgotten Utopias" exist in an ever-changing continuum of harsh, irregular beats with sudden shifts in experimental atmospheres, while "Permafrost" and "Infective Carnations" are unsettling, decadent electronic mutations. Aborted Towns is more than just music -- it is an architecture of sound, a ghostly residue of memories and echoes. The shifting balance between claustrophobic tension and vast, desolate space invites the listener into a hypnotic, unsettling journey. It lingers, seeps into the subconscious, and refuses to be forgotten. Also available on black (SSR 152LP) and striped color vinyl (SSR 152LTD-LP).
