TURDJR 007EP

This is Skinnerbox's first release on Treat Your DJ Right. On Love Songs for the Broken Arpeggiator EP, the two Berliners Olaf Hilgenfeld and Iftah Gabbai celebrate their own vision of modern dancefloor music in four epic tracks. All the music is based on the beat while the sound ranges from acid fragments, over-hypnotic, extensive melodies, and modern club beat. Do we need anything else? Don't think so.

Treat Your DJ Right releases Seidensticker & Salour from Hamburg. Some of you might know Jakob Seidensticker as one of the masterminds from Wareika whose productions have been released on labels such as Perlon and Visionquest, amongst others. After years of playing as a DJ-team in Hamburg's famous clubs, they are eager to focus on their own "house-influenced" club productions. This EP is devoted to minimal house music and contains two tracks on 12". A sharp, intelligent release and a huge rollercoaster ride through moods from contemplation to euphoria.

Michel Baumann alias Soulphiction aka Jackmate presents three new power-generators on Treat Your DJ Right, equipped with the right measure of steam and courage. "Beyblade" is a glossily-illuminated, sensory-enhanced modern club production which shows that Chicago and Detroit could be sister cities, in the heart of Trollinger-Town. "Juan" is soaked with pure Chi-town pads, and applied, frenetic, subterranean bass. Through a fully conscious, shifting rhythm and hi-hat that whispers as if a drum is being stroked with a brush, it manages a compelling groove. "Beams" demonstrates a velvety, soulful sound.

KÄT EP is the fourth installment by Cavaan on the young label Treat Your DJ Right. This release includes a remix by Gerd Janson together with his Arto Mwambe partner Phillip Lauer, under their Cocoon alias Tuff City Kids. Cavaan strive to prove their abilities in electronic production by capturing a Detroit deep house feeling combined with a story-telling character. Also, Cavaan deliver their typical slow build-ups for those who prefer the long mix in the DJ-booth. Tuff City Kids' remix provides a new twist with their more sophisticated "dope" pop-techno production.

The two Cavaan guys struck out in a Berlin, Heidelberg, and Venice studio for the Liquid Nights 12". While the awesomeness of the cities kept the team quiet, the landscape nonetheless teemed with sounds. The resulting EP traces a groovy path around canals, castles, and a giant TV tower to produce a phat sound-set fronted by a Moog bass. Bells, sticks, melodica, and the occasional analog synthesizer form the sonic backdrop, echoing the quiet, but lively sounds of the EP. Both tracks are serious heavyweight peak-time tracks which travel in between spacious song-craft and the futuristic outer-reaches of modern minimal to Detroitish techno.

Cavaan effortlessly present three beautifully-constructed productions that demonstrate the convergence and symbiotic nature of their musical past and present. The Signs EP is a feather-light feeling of completeness, with a euphoric kick in every track. These are three small dissertations that experiment with synthetic song structures with skillfully-placed drums and bass lines which have to be felt and heard. "Black Snow" received remix treatment by Isolée who created "Beau Mot Plage," a club-hit classic which is still turning all around the world.

Cavaan is the alter-ego of a rather well-known Berlin producer and his fellow from Milan. The duo debuts with this very much loved project. "Black Snow" grooves on some free-swinging retro percussion and beats from the '80s and a soft house beat, making this a very subtle killer for any dancefloor. While the vocals carry the track as light as a feather, it is after the breakdown that things get really musical. "Under" sucks the listener in deep and gently grooves. Remix by Lopazz.
