MMXVII - MMXVIII combines two EPs from Abyssal Vacuum, the one from 2017 and the other from 2018.
"Abyssal Vacuum reveals a distinctive musical vision and 'voice', offering a conception of black metal that manages to be both mesmerizing and strikingly intense. Emanations from a deep and cavernous abyss, 'like exploring the darkest caves of Earth', but the experience it creates might also bring to mind the mysteries of the cosmos lurking in a hostile off-world void." --no clean singing
"This project is a thick wall of black hate that is far more powerful than much of what you're hearing today. Abyssal Vacuum is a project that needs to be respected because it's that fucking good!" --cvlt nation

Swiss black metal with members of Ungfell and Urgeist. Kvelgeyst was originally called into life in 2015 to delve into the most obscure practices known to man in pursuit of a universal solvent, the alkahest. Their thorough search for transmutations has been molded into the form of wicked riff-craft and otherworldly, musical chaos. Kvelgeyst is: Urgeist - guitars, vocals; Meister T. - bass, vocals, synths; V. Knüppelknecht - drums. Alkahest was recorded in H.U.C. crypt in 2018. Mixed by Kerberos and Meister T. Mastered by Andreas Rosczyk at Goblin Sound.

"Black metal is already a saturated genre, especially the super-atmospheric corner that Vukari occupies, but the band steps out of that (and their own) mold with Aevum. The riffs are tighter, the blasts are more concrete, and the songwriting has become extremely emotive -- any 'flatness' predicated by Vukari's postmodern tilt gets destroyed just by just the sheer weight of the thing. Aevum is emotionally heavy, the most important kind of heavy, and that ethos has been woven throughout all eight of these medium-format tracks" --Invisible Oranges. Vukari is: Marek Cimochowicz - guitar, vocals; Spenser Morris - bass; Mike DeStefano - drums, keyboards; Jace Kiburz - guitar.

Black metal from Denmark. "Liosber is a band of Danish black metal veterans (who include members of Horned Almighty), a project that has been fermenting for the last five years in the shadows and now has come to fruition in the form of a four-track EP named Constrictor: Redeemer. The songs are also multi-faceted as well as packed with memorable hooks, veering from the sound of grand conflagrations into doom-stricken scenes of plague-driven fear and wailing grief, or of black incantations being woven in the ether . . . It won't take you long to realize that Liosber's song-craft is of a high order, as are their performances. It's entirely believable that the members are veterans." --no clean singing

LP version. Atmospheric black metal orientated towards the aesthetic of Scandinavian metal music, without reproducing any stereotype but by walking off the beaten track. Wandar's music is not played by routine -- it is celebrated: If it was a picture, it would display mountains and forests, haze, and fire. Recorded at Lovecave, Halle an der Saale, MMXVIII - MMXIX. Mixed and Mastered at Hallgard Studio, Halle an der Saale, MMXIX.

Originally formed in the year of the Millennium under the name Hrapp and several demos later, it was in 2005 when the Danish black metal trio changed its name into Ligfaerd. Following a line-up change, numerous EPs, splits as well as two full-length albums, live appearances such as at Metal Magic Festival, the band quickly began to receive high praise in the underground black metal scene.

Heretical Sect is a reclusive collective fixated on the physical and spiritual genocides of the Southwest. The Southwest; represented through a nostalgic lens of cowboy culture, rarely exposes the most brutal atrocities of American history. Churches chained shut and lit on fire with the congregation inside, severed limbs piled in the streets, and disease and slavery are burned into the memory of the landscape. These horrors are sonically juxtaposed against the natural beauty of the high desert. Expansive skies, deep canyons, painted red rocks, all witnesses to untold butchery and grief. Heretical Sect features members of other prominent Santa Fe, New Mexico bands, such as Predatory Light or Superstition. May all life learn to die.

LP version. Occult black metal from Denmark featuring members of Ligfaerd and Serpent Lair. The music is a blasphemous unity of the violent and the vicious, the sinister and the sepulchral. It was conceived to reflect the liturgical format of the lyrics, devoted to Satan and the way of the witch, each a cantata in a sacrament in his name. After the release of the debut album, Cantate Of The Black Mass, drummer Arent and guitarist Erebos joined the cult to begin work on their next liturgy.

Infernal Decadence is the second album by Spectral Wound from Canada.
"Spectral Wound play a voracious take on Black Metal. One that is seeped in atmosphere without the heavy use of keyboards or operatic elements. Their initial sonic declaration is grim, evil and drenched in unrefined disgust for our world. But even with their heavy leaning towards the Finnish style of Black Metal, they've managed to take it and twist out their own take and identity, a fact that comes into play the further one delves into this release." --cvltnation

Wild Hunt's Afterdream Of The Reveller presented here as a double-LP. Contains the songs from the Scroll And Urn EP as a bonus; these songs never got a physical release before. Features members of Void Omnia and Dispirit.
"Afterdream Of The Reveller is a unique sonic journey, taking you across mythical landscapes and forcing you to embrace the bleak unrealities of the black metal sound world. Adventurous, titanic and filled to the brim with all sorts of interesting musical ideas this album is a thrilling journey. There is something punishingly perfect about Wild Hunt, their massive sounds and transcendent blasts of nihilistic black metal feed into something greater. With doom metal fringes filling out ritualistic blasphemy it's hard not to fall in love. The thing that really gets me here though is the quality of the songwriting. While Wild Hunt certainly understand how to craft some really twisted riffs and punish the listener with hooks they also step into the groove now and again. Beyond that, there is a lot of melodic content here to sink your teeth into. They use this record to sort of paint themselves as a group who can tackle it all, but never stray too far from their black metal roots. It makes for a thrilling listening experience. It's rare you find black metal this dynamic that isn't also a little bit silly, but Wild Hunt seem to revel in extremes and use it to guide you through a wicked path. While this album is not without its moments where it pushes a little too far, I can't help but to admire the drive and 'togetherness' of this release. It makes Afterdream Of The Reveller the sort of thing that you want to come back too and truly enjoy, no matter how far removed you may be." --Two Guys Metal Reviews

The side project of Solbrud guitarist/vocalist Ole Pedersen Luk, Afsky makes a big impression on its debut LP, Sorg. Afsky covers a lot of ground and treads the line between traditional black metal, atmospheric black metal, and depressive black metal, with some additional influences seeping in to provide some subtle nuances. It sometimes has that abrasive second-wave tonality and riffing that wouldn't sound out of place on a Taake record, while on the other hand it alternates between icy assaults and slower atmospheric/depressive sections that have a lot of depth to offer listeners. It's a strong first showing for this new Danish black metal project.
