Seoul duo Salamanda arrive on Wisdom Teeth with their latest and most focused LP yet: In Parallel -- a vividly textural and immersive record that brings a new level of clarity to their typically psychedelic, expansive approach. Since arriving in 2019, the pair -- comprised of friends Uman Therma (aka Sala) and Yetsuby (aka Manda) -- have been fast at work mapping out their elaborate, dream-state sonic world -- prolifically honing their sound across four albums and over a dozen singles to date. Across their already-extensive discography the pair have established a few key calling cards. Mallet instruments and tuned drums play out playful music-box melodies. Thick washes of gaseous ambience invoke otherworldly or ancient soundscapes. And buried fragments of found sound and manipulated vocal give their otherwise synthetic compositions a warm sense of first-person narrative. In Parallel's lead single "Homemade Jam" is the closest the duo have come to writing an all-out pop track: its buoyant beat and autotuned vocals sounding like something SOPHIE and Charli XCX could have written after a particularly potent batch of mushroom tea. It's a razor-sharp slice of alt-pop that offers a mouthwatering first look at what happens when Salamanda's sprawling, unbridled creative energy is distilled right down into something concentrated and polished. At other points their sonic explorations lead them to embrace a more upfront approach to rhythm, skirting closer than ever before to the dancefloor in the process. The meandering drums and vocal chops on "Paper Labyrinth" are underpinned by a firm 4x4 pulse, while the dembow groove of "Tonal, Fluid" would feel right at home in a Nick León or DJ Plead set. In Parallel is a record about connection, and the warmth and nostalgic simplicity of friendship is felt vividly throughout. Its title refers to the harmony the duo have found between them as friends and collaborators -- and sonic parallels are traced throughout the record as testament to this. Motifs come and go before reappearing at later points: take, for example, the melody underpinning "Sun Tickles," which returns in a different key and tempo on album closer "Mysterious Wedding." Parallel lines are traced between each artist and through their music, linking back to their past and pointing ahead to the future. Only Salamanda know where these will take us next.

Enigmatic Welsh producer Jorg Kuning lands on Facta and K-LONE's Wisdom Teeth imprint with a four-track EP of psychedelic, sun-kissed modular house-and-techno. Like so many great artists emanating from the lush Welsh valleys (think Steevio, Leif, Duckett, et al) Jorg creates distinctly pastoral dance music that is in equal parts playful, deep, melodic and eccentric. Through a string of low-key sell-outs on his own Bakk Heia label, the producer has already developed a unique signature sound and a burgeoning cult following to boot, with early adopters including Ben UFO, Call Super, and Shanti Celeste. The record opens with "Chosta-del-sol" -- a noodling polyphony of warm pads, warping plucks and oozing modular noise that stretches and sprawls over a sun-baked house beat. Next up, the two-stepping rhythms of "Ex-tensor" provide a bruk backbone for a constantly-crescendoing symphony of warbling chords, glitching melodies and fluttering pads. On the flip, "Rhos Fiddle" sees the artist hit a more driving, peak-time pace -- whilst "TB-SB" sees him at his most skeletal, recalling Skull Disco-era Shackleton.

2022 repress. White vinyl. London-based record label Wisdom Teeth kicks off 2021 with something close to home: Blush, the playful, dynamic debut LP by label co-founder, Facta. Recorded unusually quickly over a short stint in early 2020, the record is the product of a period of refreshed and unfussy creativity. It's an innovative and distinctly contemporary album that moves a good few steps beyond the artist's work to date -- loosely rooted in UK dance music but taking added influence from ambient, modern classical, dreampop, Balearic, folk music, and beyond. The result is a lush, ornate record populated by aqueous pads, bleeping arps, wandering melodies, and sparse broken rhythms; acoustic instruments that play out alongside FM synths, all processed with a pristine UV sheen inherited from modern pop music. The record opens with "Sistine (Plucks)" -- a crystalline synth piece with a stumbling, shifting meter revolving around an odd-ended MIDI harp loop, colored through with washed-out pads, and snatches of found sound. This breezy mood follows through to "On Deck", where an FM vibraphone rings out on top of woozy, warping chords and a subby soca groove. Moving forward the record moves cohesively through a range of shifting moods and hues. The machine jazz of "Brushes" is tense and coiled, with nods towards Burnt Friedman, Photek, and Eli Keszler. "Iso Stream" sees a rich, colorful sprawl of arpeggiated synths and dissociated vocal chops unspool slowly to form pooling, low-lit melodies. Title track "Blush" is a forlorn Autonomic love song built from clicks-n-cuts -- like dBridge and Instra:mental reduced and reinterpreted by SND. Throughout, bold, broad melodies take centerstage, and the tracks build like compositions rather than loops or club tools. There are echoes of the dancefloor -- particularly in the slo-mo bruk of "Verge" and the glacial subs underpinning "Diving Birds" (a collaboration with friend and Trilogy Tapes regular Parris) -- however the end results find us somewhere far off. Blush is the second long-form release to come from Wisdom Teeth following K-LONE's 2020 debut album, Cape Cira. "Diving Birds" features Trilogy Tapes regular Parris.

Dublin rising star Sputnik One lands on Facta and K-LONE's Wisdom Teeth with his most accomplished record yet: a flawless four-tracker of mutant dancefloor gear that draws on broken UK techno, psychedelic tribal, footwork and rave-y post-hardcore. Fans of his standout outing on Well Street Records earlier this year will have a good idea of what to expect here: uniquely voiced and refreshingly forward-thinking bass-heavy club tracks at a range of tempos, all unified by a distinct sonic palette that pits glossy digital synths against raw organic samples and found sounds. There are echoes of Shackleton and Olof Dreijer in "Love From Above" and "Michael Cera", whilst "Microbead" and "Powder" offer refreshed and refined takes on modern post-dubstep/post-hardcore club styles. Across the record the tempo creeps from 130 to 150.

Cape Cira is the lush, hypnotic debut album by acclaimed British producer K-LONE. In contrast to his clubbier productions, Cape Cira sees the producer explore the full melodic and textural potentials of his sound, drawing influence from ambient, fourth world, and modern classical music to create a work more closely related to the outputs of SND, Jon Hassell, Burnt Friedman, or -- more recently -- Don't DJ and Visible Cloaks. The result of a short creative burst during a grim British winter, the record explores music as escapism, comprising a series of lush, warm vignettes that demonstrate music's unique transportive power. Cape Cira takes place in a sensuous sonic world between the natural and digital realms: FM synthesizers mimic acoustic instruments, tuned percussion, and bird song; and found sounds and field recordings are processed with a hyperreal sheen. The gift for composition only hinted at in K-LONE's work to date is on full display here. The artful and intuitive simplicity of the record's melodies belies the complexity of their composition, where looping polyrhythms create shifting, unresolved patterns and ever-changing counterpoints. Cape Cira marks the first full length release on Wisdom Teeth -- the label K-LONE runs with friend and collaborator, Facta. The album stands as an exciting next step for both the producer and the label itself, furthering their reputation as key young voices in contemporary electronic music.

Long-time friend of the label Parris debuts on Wisdom Teeth with a unique set of step-y house mutations, including a collaboration with AD93 star, Minor Science. The record begins in downtempo mode. "Soft Rocks With Socks" rolls out majestically on a slo-mo drum break and a two-tone bass loop, with shimmering pads and bleeping melodies counterbalancing a deceptively punishing low end. "Terrapin" -- a link-up with Minor Science -- is a pristinely produced 100bpm stepper, featuring razor sharp drum synths and crystalline MIDI melodies. To close, "Sabor a Ceniza" pushes the tempo up towards peak time. What begins as a broken rhythm settles into a 4x4 groove, finding the exact midpoint between Roska's UK funky and Margaret Dygas's work on Perlon.

Swedish producer Shielding lands on Facta and K-LONE's Wisdom Teeth imprint with an extended collection of hazy dub techno, drone, and downtempo. With previous releases on Kimochi and Leif's UntilMyHeartStops imprint (as Okänd Konstnär), Collecting Seaweed EP is the artist's fullest body of work to date, comprising six tracks cherrypicked from a vast set of recordings produced over the last two years. The record's pulse recalls Basic Channel and the clicks-n-cuts of Jan Jelinek and SND, but its textures are loose and painterly. Looping, pulsating textures sprawl out to create rejuvenating, emotive soundscapes. Patterns repeat, but no two strokes are the same.

Wisdom Teeth label-head Facta returns to home turf with a three-track EP of melodic, bleeping, broken beats. Last appearing on the label back in 2014, Scales + Measures EP marks the producer's first self-released solo EP -- a return after five years, during which he has developed his sound through releases on Livity Sound, Ancient Monarchy, Idle Hands, Tempa, and beyond. Scales + Measures is Facta's most colorful release to date, trading out the dark minimalism of his early releases for poppy chords and warping, plasticky synths. Rhythmically the record makes nods to 140 bpm electro ("Rose Red"), UK funky ("Scales + Measures"), and dubby break-beat house ("4C Loop"), but the melodies and textures come from elsewhere: drill, rave, r'n'b and modern pop music.

Piezo lands on Wisdom Teeth with a four-track EP of head-turning club bangers. Through recent releases on Idle Hands, StabUdown, Version, and his own label, Ansia, Piezo has been developing a sound that marries dancefloor heft and precision sound design with qualities more rarely found in dance music: fun, humor, eccentricity. His music is functional yet full of quirks, aligning him with fellow club curveballers like Joe, Untold, and Pangaea. Steady Can't Steady Can't Stay is the producer's most accomplished and varied body of work to date, spanning humid, loopy house ("Waco"), melodic crystalline half-step ("A Touch Of"), cartoony UK techno ("Steady Can't Steady"), and pillowy down-tempo ("Ambra").

The title track here is quintessential Lurka, sitting somewhere between hip-hop, dancehall and tech-step, and hitting like a dream collab between Timbaland and Dillinja. It's a unique sound that he first aired back in 2013 with the essential Full Clip/BR Greaze 12" on Hotline Recordings (HOTLINE 002EP). On the flip, you find him working with clubbier beat patterns. "Plenty" revolves around a rich, undulating melody, underpinned by thundering kicks and rolling UK funky snares. "Bodied" marries woody snares and dubby UKG chords with a gnarly jump-up bassline and scratch FX.

Wisdom Teeth co-founder K-LONE is back on home turf with a four-track EP of broken beats for big rigs. The Sine Language EP sees him handling a range of styles and tempos, moving from paranoiac electro ("Sine Language") and low-slung percussive house ("Batucada") through to tripping, bleeping techno ("Missed Calls") and, finally, early hours dubbed-out house ("Bells").

Banileue Records boss Benoit B lands on Wisdom Teeth with four dazzling new-age steppers. The record follows on the Japonaiserie EP (2017). On Vague À L'âme, the melodic ideas developed on Japonaiserie are set to work against broken beats and UK-leaning rhythms. The EP is bookended by a pair of euphoric broken-beat rollers: first, the melodic bleeps and weighted kicks of the title track; and to close, the scuzzy pads and glissando synths of "Kimono". Sat between them are two lean, smoky half-steppers: the record's vocal centerpiece, "Gyvenimo Tėkmė" (featuring Dália), and "Ice Valley", an intergalactic slow jam.

Loft debuted on Astral Plane Recordings in 2016 with the Turbulent Dynamics, which featured five stylistically varied slices of experimental, sui generis club music. The EP's center point, "Heffalump", stood out in particular. Three Settlements Four Ways picks up where "Heffalump" left off. Dynamically and structurally, the EP operates miles outside of traditional club territory, eschewing techno's constant, linear structure in favor of unpredictable narratives that rise and falter in a series of dramatic crescendos. Baltimore rhythms and gunshot breaks build to violent peaks before tumbling into thin air, giving way to yearning melodies, romantic synths and pitch bent choirs.

Freerotation resident Duckett lands on Facta and K-LONE's Wisdom Teeth label with a new four-tracker. Duckett's malfunctioning rhythms and spoon-bent melodies occupy that sweet spot between order and chaos that the label has always done its best to occupy. More so than ever, Gannets For Guano EP sees Duckett exploring far-out territories. The melodies are psychedelic; the rhythms are disjointed and swinging -- but always keeping just the right side of chaotic. Even at its most eccentric, the EP rolls with the functionality of techno, and boasts buckets of soul on account of Duckett's singular knack for melody.

On Line is a collaborative album in parts, focused on themes of repetition, poly-metrics, transformation, and abstraction. The record opens with Simo Cell's "Symmetry": a slow crescendo of whirring pads, melodic percussion and dotted rhythms, all underpinned by thick slabs of sub-bass. Next, Don't DJ follows with the oblique, discordant chug of "Übergang Zur Metrotram". As with all of Florian's works, the track pulses with an organic, animal quality that completely belies its mechanical origins. K-Lone's "Woniso" grows slowly out of a series of beautiful harmonic counterpoints - morphing patterns reveal their individual colors and contours.

Following releases on Space + Time and Soundman Chronicles, Etch brings his junglist sensibilities to Wisdom Teeth, this time slowing tempos to a slow lurch for the sour, paranoid step of "Toxin."
