TAVERNA 001EP
|
And.Id presents the first two original tracks for the Taverna Tracks imprint. The EP kickstarts with "My People" in complete New York fashion, with strings, bass line and vocal stabs that could have jumped straight out of a Jovonn production. "Face Off" is a more obscure basement techno affair for the late-night afterhours and for those who like to zone and lose themselves in the trippy stabs and tension-building strings. The EP rounds off with a superbly-produced Alix Alvarez remix, which makes use of the original hooks but elevates the whole song with his unique production skills and sublime sense for arrangement.

The electronic dance world has seen the many sides of And.Id as a talented musician, a multi-faceted producer and a live performer on the dancefloor, but his latest musical rebirth has sparked a new jolt of inspiration to travel back to his early days in Thessaloniki where he passed the hours of the day discovering and analyzing a world of dance vinyls that ultimately shaped him as a live act today. The product of this rebirth is Mobilee's next album release, Eternal Return. This represents a new wave of And.Id and, to simplify it, an explanation of how he interprets dance music. Through nine tracks and one bonus number, And.Id generates a whirlpool of emotions for his audience as his first four tracks absorb the mind in an ecstasy of full-force body movement and dancing, while a deeper story of his musical roots and influences take the vanguard role in the last five tracks. The third track features the powerful vocals of a globally-acclaimed vocalist and house music diva of the 1990s. Listen closer and you'll recognize her lyrics. "My Love" is a track inspired solely by And.Id's tour through the U.S. while "They Say I Can't Fly" is a melancholic and poetic tale of high aspirations and dreams. The message is clear -- do your thing. The keyboardist of And.Id and B.A.N.D. taps away in the final portion of the album and the bonus track concludes the album with a ripened, familiar sound from the High-Five Mobilee album. A whole lot of soul went into this album.

MOBILEE 092EP
|
Written and produced by Andreas Dimitriadis, Mobilee's 92nd release is a compilation of ideas and work developed in three different cities. The A-side comprises an exotic mix of sounds, quiet beats and the TR Roland 909. "Air" gets the momentum swinging with surprise instrumentals, an upbeat melody and joyful cries of celebration. "Girl," a raw track with minimal edits, rounds-up the B-side, improvised and recorded with And.Id's B.A.N.D.. Tasos Korkovelos on keyboards, Francesco Paolo D'Andrea on bass and And.Id playing the trumpet.

And.Id has gone solo for "I Will Be There," and he's taking us back to the dancefloor. "I Will Be There" lands heavily with a punching kick drum and there is little release before the bass and groove come in. "Five" brings back And.Id's signature jazzy sounds with some melodic piano chords. "Erotica" brings all of the elements together with a strong melodic bass line and punch kick. This package will definitely get you moving.

MOBILEE 009CD

Mobilee presents the fourth installment of its compilation and DJ-mix series, Back To Back. This series has evolved significantly since its inception, with the second disc of each compilation presenting a unique take on Mobilee's music. Volume 4, compiled and performed by And.id and B.A.N.D., continues this evolution with a two-disc extravaganza that is unlike anything you've ever heard before. While disc 1 compiles highlights from Mobilee's 2009 discography, disc 2 consists of jazz interpretations of classic Mobilee tracks, all of which have been painstakingly recorded, arranged, and re-edited by And.id. These refreshing takes on some of Mobilee's best tracks over the years were recorded during live studio sessions with jazz musicians, whose use of real instruments in performing Mobilee tracks -- not to mention And.id mixing and arranging -- breathes new life into these time-tested anthems. The tracks selected for the first disc do well in showcasing Mobilee's current musical diversity, with hard-hitting techno from Pan-Pot, forward-thinking house from GummiHz and experimental downtempo from Exercise One. Dan Curtin and Hector rub up against new tracks from old-timers, amongst whom Anja Schneider, Marcin Czubala, and Sebo K are also included. An exclusive track courtesy of And.id also makes its debut. The second disc is a ride entirely of its own, as And.id takes classic Mobilee tracks and filters them through the lens of jazz with the help of his B.A.N.D., comprised of both recent Berklee College Of Music musicians as well as seasoned studio musicians. But don't be fooled: these aren't just jazz covers. And.id has gone one step further, editing and arranging the recorded instrumentals into an incredibly unique final product. Sebo K's anthem "Horizons," Pan-Pot's lush, piano-led track "Faces," and "Rancho Relaxo," Anja Schneider's collaboration with Sebo K, are just some of the tracks taken to new heights. Mobilee also included the original versions of each of these tracks just for kicks. Four-to-the-floor beats get traded in for live instrumentation and creativity meets the classics on volume 4 of the Back To Back compilation. Other artists include: Lee Van Dowski, Argenis Brito, and Vincenzo.

And.id is renowned for his live performances in which he integrates both released and unreleased productions, loops, and live use of his trumpet into an incomparably high-energy affair. "First Talk" is a bouncing, tech-y track that constantly moves forward, with build-ups that stop just short of peaking. "Ephoria" also maintains restraint, with stuttered house beats and melodic undercurrents. "Lights On" displays his darker, more minimal side, taking advantage of lower frequency ranges and recurrent echoes.

And.Id presents Sand On The Floor, a relaxing journey into the heart of techno. The title track is warm and tropical, with mysterious keys and retro sequences leading to tribal drum beats. Light wooden xylophone tapping can be faintly heard against looping instrumentals. "Acapulco" is a mystical shower of hollow drums, like a beating heart. Faint Mexican strings warp in and out of rhythmic percussion as masculine voices replace the bass. Chill grooves that call for a lounge chair and a piña colada.

WARE 066EP
|
"With his EP Less Is More, Andreas Dimitriadis aka And.Id from Thessalonica turned out to be one of THE surprise acts on Ware in 2005 as his record hit the nerve of the reinvigorated minimal movement. No wonder, And.id masterfully combines off-the-cuff minimal beats and basic elements with wonderful harmonies, melodies and a very distinct touch of melancholy. And as always it is this distinctiveness that we value the most. Epigones are a dime a dozen."

WARE 056EP

"Please welcome the second Ware act from Greece! Andreas Dimitriadis alias And.id is from Thessalonica and has been producing slightly more unusual techno since 2000. Though his functional minimalism is based on the current electro-house trend he doesn't imitate its comparatively stubborn approach in terms of structure and sound. On his Less Is More EP he has succeeded in doing so more than once, whether with a sample of an ancient telephone ringing, hyper-naturalistic piano or with sound scapes one wouldn't have expected anymore. The first track 'Do It Later' is a mix version by Mathias Schaffhäuser and Ziggy Kinder, which also happens to be their debut collaboration. He has previously released records on Thinner, Erase, Klik and GravityRecords."
