This is the third volume in Ware label-boss Mathias Schaffhäuser's Re: Selected Remixes compilations. Re:3 was made almost entirely during the most extreme techno economy crisis to-date, when Mathias Schaffhäuser received one remix request after another. Except for two, all tracks were produced after August 2009. This makes Re:3 a fresh and coherent album, not much different from an artist album. There are two tracks that Ware is particularly thrilled about: unlike the sad fade-out version on the Faust album from 2002, the remix for "T-Électronique" here is featured in its full-length. "You Laugh At My Face," originally by Patrick Cowley & Jorge Socarras (aka Catholic), is a track exclusive to this compilation. Stefan Goldmann's Macro Recordings found the original version on an unreleased album from the 1970s when both these artists collaborated. Later, Jorge Socarras played in the band Indoor Life, who Schaffhäuser was a huge fan of during the early 1980s. When he heard the Cowley/Socarras track, the old flame rekindled. After a few phone calls to Macro, the licensing and release of an exclusive mix was a done deal. Also, the remixes for Leigh Morgan and Aldrin & Akien were so far only available as internet downloads -- the first is now being released on CD and vinyl, the latter on vinyl only, as is the 16-minute original remix version of M² (alias Markus Güntner and Markus Kavka). Other artists include: Henneberg & Stiller, Philogresz, Gunne, Delhia De France, Breger, and Nooncat.

Ziggy Kinder treats us to another killer, Ware's first double A-sided Assbomb/Longcat. "Assbomb" is an insane funk trip into the deep realms of Ziggy's humor, a track with maximum party factor and plenty of potential for eternity. "Longcat" docks on to the house-y tracks of the Ribbon Twist B-side, with the clever addition of well-dosed hymn genes. Featuring a chic double-front cover with graphics by Tim Stadie.

Ilker Soylu aka Philogresz is based in Dordrecht, Holland where he runs his label Team Records. He is a great aestheticist of the post-minimal world. His sound is both playful and intoxicating; his incredibly melodious tenderness corresponds with compulsory beats. The guitar and voice on "Vie" are not sampled, but performed by Philogresz himself. His sound is moody, melodic, jazzy and organically-composed; yet it is confidently-arranged techno with no boundaries.

Part 3 of Ware's Unequal Equality 12" series, featuring never before-released collaborations between Mathias Schaffhäuser and various artists. "It's Only Flesh (What We Call Brain)" by Schaffhäuser and Pawas & Beume takes a unique journey through dance history, mixing crisp dub-house and Kraut vocals. Glitterbug's remix sits right in the middle between understatement, euphoria and desire. The vocal version of Schaffhäuser and Midinovela's "Quiero" features Edu's super-smooth voice and revised arrangements and sounds.

Introducing Berlin-based post-minimalist Luca Mortellaro aka Lucy. "Grainy Lines" reveals Lucy's craving for rave and rocking the floors, while "Go And See My Love" displays his playfulness and disregard of strict dancefloor rules. René Breitbarth sinks deep into the deep house sea to deliver two remixes of "Grainy Lines" -- one jazzy and rolling, one cosmic and bewitching. Support by Steve Lawler, Derrick May, Laurent Garnier, Agoria, James Holden, John Digweed.

Ware proudly presents more tracks by Ziggy Kinder. The title track on the Ribbon Twist EP is one of Kinder's best tracks ever -- there just couldn't be any more funk in minimal or attention to detail with maximum functionality at the same time. On "Hello, Android," he argues that house music is from outer space. Or was... or will be. "Boost Express" takes Kinder's strengths, build-up and drama back to the post-minimal here and now. Equally exhilarating for aliens, day and night-timers.

Unequal Equality features tracks made in collaboration with Ware label boss Mathias Schaffhäuser and various artists, including Ware staples like Benjamin Brunn, And.Id, Markus Güntner, Ziggy Kinder, and Schaffhäuser's long-time hero Alex Smoke, and also new ones such as Lucy and Xhin from Singapore (both with releases on Meerestief Rec.) and the extremely talented Argentinean IDM musician, Fabrice. Some collaborations were done online, and some were accomplished in person -- regardless, this is a seamless cross-section of Schaffhäuser's ability to transmogrify and unify. "2 Ton/3 Ton" is a special track: based on a piece by Ursula Bogner, it was discovered by Jan Jelinek posthumously. Despite the fact that this is a collection of various artists, Unequal Equality is Schaffhäuser's most homogeneous and well-blended album to date -- a quintessence of his work in the cosmos of minimal techno house since 1994 and the multiple and versatile input of all partners involved. Also including work by Fabrice and Midinovela.

The Ware label releases 10 Jahre Ware in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Both tracks, composed by Ziggy Kinder and Mathias Schaffhäuser are largely based on samples from Ware tracks by artists such as: And.Id, Dominik Eulberg & Wolfgang Thums, Geoff White, Jay Pauli, Jin Choi, Losoul, Markus Güntner, Mathias Schaffhäuser, Mud Max, Novox remixed by Alex Smoke, Sell & Snackman & Ziggy Kinder, etc. -- nearly all Ware artists of the last decade united. Have fun figuring it out!

Mathias Schaffhäuser approaches the subjects of religion, God and faith via a totally burning techno manifesto. "Gott Ist Tot" ("God Is Dead") is a punchy rave track which deliberately lacks any missionary intentions and doesn't philosophize but beats around the bush tongue-in-cheek. With the [a]pendics.shuffle remix, all content vaporizes and is ultimately kidnapped into weightlessness by a godly (!) guitar at the end of the track.

Lucio and Giuseppe Carpentieri from Salerno, Italy provides listeners with the finest minimal to rough, thigh-slapping humor. The title track throws its vast energy out on the dancefloor in the form of laser synthies. Side B represents the surrounding stars, with "Bambinello" being the playful rogue and "Woebetideyou" merrily portraying the philosophical thinker. And at the break of dawn everything changes yet again, with no less than three suns rising.

Jin Choi's "Polaris" and "Serenity" shows a playful, deeper side, with beautifully subtle melodies and surprising harmonic changes, Latin percussions and echo cascades that pull you down to the ground. This is music for the sofas, the dancefloor and the beach. Smiling faces guaranteed! Jin Choi and his buddy Daso are members of Maderfotor, and Choi has produced tracks with Mathias Schaffhäuser under the name of Turismo.

Ziggy Kinder is one of the great individualists in techno. His style is pretty unique, and his latest EP sounds so new and yet so familiar. This time, the motto is Tongue Attack but don't worry, there's no need to run for cover, on the contrary, feel free to participate and stick it out. Ziggy Kinder has released three EPs on Ware so far, as well as his full-length, Akkrobatik. He has also produced remixes for Frankie, Markus Güntner and in cooperation with Mathias Schaffhäuser for And.id.

Jin Choi was one half of the duo Turismo, alongside Mathias Schaffhäuser. After his monster project Maderfotor, in collaboration with Daso, this is a taster of his solo debut. If Maderfotor were to be a metal band, then Jin's solo project would be the post rock spin-off -- abstract, clearly structured and yet abysmal.

Mud Max are Mr. Statik and Motek, and they are about to have their international breakthrough. At this year's Sonar Festival the two boys from Athens performed live at the Raum Club, one of the trendiest locations in BCN, together with Mathew Jonson's Wagon Repair crew. At the Loveparade in Berlin, Mr. Statik, along with the Balkon Records gang, will be present on one of the parade's underground floors and in two other clubs. Zampone Is Dead is an expression of those musical excursions and more: clicky and bouncy. Includes remixes by Maderfotor and GummiHz..

"With his EP Less Is More, Andreas Dimitriadis aka And.Id from Thessalonica turned out to be one of THE surprise acts on Ware in 2005 as his record hit the nerve of the reinvigorated minimal movement. No wonder, And.id masterfully combines off-the-cuff minimal beats and basic elements with wonderful harmonies, melodies and a very distinct touch of melancholy. And as always it is this distinctiveness that we value the most. Epigones are a dime a dozen."

A little over a year after their debut release, Sell & Snackman present greatly unpredictable tracks on Wowa Wowa, perfect for passionate paddlers. Those of you who expected to be served the same darkness as on Zuckerware will be deceived by an initially much friendlier soundscape -- though that's just another trick that the boys from Hamburg pulled out of their hats. Things get pretty rough on this one only to be reconciled by the sound of bells at the end.

This is Cologne-based Ziggy Kinder's debut full-length album bursting with sporty, minimalist techno that one can't help but get fit to. Rife with drum kicks, summery melodies summoning cocktail parties and other tingly feelings, Akrobatik is a heady, madcap ride. Kinder has an awfully good pedigree: Nick Luscombe, Richie Hawtin, Gebr. Teichmann, Goldfish & der Dulz, John Tejada, Karotte, Audio Werner, Markus Müller and many more included Ziggy's records in their 2005 charts and playlists or enlisted his work in future prominent compilations. In plain words, Akrobatik is a super individual draft in the field of minimal techno, full of unusual melodies, drama and complexity.

On Novox' third EP for Ware, the wisdom of the night is finally turned back on its feet -- or would you want to dance on your hair roots like dead philosophers might? Well let me tell you, Spent aka Alex Smoke certainly doesn't! In giving all the original ingredients another good stir his A-side mix is heading straight for the dance floor, which is still the mostly likely place to find perception!

This is Germany-based Markus Guentner's second full-length release on Ware, featuring exclusive tracks and remixes. Devoted to brilliant f-2-the-floor tracks, Guentner doesn't eschew his usual ambient minimalist tradition; however, this time he vehemently proves that his understanding of house and techno goes far beyond dub and minimal house, with plenty of genre dipping you've never heard Guentner attempt before. Lovely Society joins dreamy ambient house tracks, abstract disco references and DJ favorites to hit the crowd's euphoric nerve. This album also features two remix tracks by Renato Figoli, who has turned the track "All The Time" into an irresistible minimal trance raver hit. The other is Ziggy Kinder's version of "Option 2," and Guentner's previously-unreleased "Brickbuilder," now released exclusively for the first time on the vinyl version. Other exclusively released tracks include "As We On The Beach" on the CD version, and "Realize" on the vinyl. This is by far Guentner's most mature album that mixes what otherwise is treated separately.

In April 2005 Ware label-boss Schaffhäuser released his album Coincidance. The Alternatives EP, which followed in June, became the most successful 12" in Ware history mainly due to Trentemøller's remix of "Coincidance." Needless to say, we'd like that to happen again. Andreas "Audio" Werner turns up the 4-to-the-floor bassdrum on "November Reign," ringing in the New Year as if Christmas was tomorrow. On side B Mathias Schaffhäuser transforms "Dear Elliott," the requiem for the Californian singer-songwriter Elliott Smith, into a stubborn minimal-dark funk track, pulling the mourning crowd from their seats and onto the dance floor.
