"Composer Francois de Roubaix was born in 1939. He didn't receive any formal musical education, but he became interested in jazz from the age of 15. His professional musical career only spanned ten years, from 1965-1975. During that period he composed for commercials, TV series, shorts, and about 30 feature-length films. The most striking aspect of Francois de Roubaix's music is its versatility: on one hand, it's his ability to create simple, memorable tunes; on another hand, it's his bolder experiments with different timbres and recording techniques. He freely combined folkloric and electronic instruments, embracing the advent of the first synthesizers and rhythm boxes. Being a multi-instrumentalist gave him a high degree of artistic freedom, as he spent long hours at his home studio overdubbing various parts of his scores until he would reach the desired result. Du Jazz a L'Electro 1965-1975 is a brand new compilation album consisting of compositions by Francois de Roubaix. It includes previously unreleased and hard to find compositions from tv-series like Les Survivants and Tarif De Nuit. This compilation also includes compositions for commercials of Cointreau, Muratti and Fiat Coupe. Du Jazz a L'Electro 1965-1975 is available as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on solid yellow colored vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve with liner notes and background stories about the compositions."

"Daughters of Darkness is a 1971 English-spoken Belgian horror film. Directed by Harry Kümel, this cult erotic vampire film stars Delphine Seyrig, Danielle Ouimet, John Karlen, and Andrea Rau. The story features a newlywed couple that stops at a posh French hotel on their way to England. They meet a beautiful, red-lipped woman whom the hotel owner swears had been there 40 years ago, even though she hasn't aged. She introduces herself as Countess of Bathory and folks begin to wonder. Its score was created by multiple award-winning composer François de Roubaix, who is seen as a precursor of the French electronic music next to his jazz expertise. Years after its original release, the music was picked up and sampled by several hip-hop artists, such as Ice-T, Ab-Soul and Lil Wayne. Critics, actors, and directors call it one of the best horror movies ever made. A retrospective poll by Time Out in the early 2010s placed the film at number 90 in their top 100 horror films. In 2021, we celebrate the movie's 50th anniversary. Film festival Gent will show the movie in its entity with an orchestra playing the score. With the help of director Harry Kümel and Patricia and Benjamin de Roubaix, the Original Soundtrack of Daughters of Darkness is available on black vinyl and contains an exclusive poster and printed innersleeves."

Never released before on LP, here are the complete original soundtracks of French cult film composer François de Roubaix for director Yves Boisset. Two movies that embody the two sides of Francois de Roubaix's approach to recording. For Le Saut De L'Ange (1971) the self-taught composer wrote an orchestration for some fifty musicians playing strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion with two distinct solo instruments alternating the main theme: Indian sitar on the one hand and accordion on the other. This beautiful score creates the seam that binds Bangkok to Marseille, the two places where the action takes place. Le Saut De L'Ange was originally released as a 7" in 1971. R.A.S (1973) was recorded on a 8-track tape recorder, in François de Roubaix's home studio rue de Courcelle, where most of his '70s scores were recorded. The result is a mix of military-march rhythms, rolls on the snare-drum with sounds of Synthi AKS synthesizer: de Roubaix invented a modern sound for this contemporary-history tragedy. Includes extensive liner notes.

"The French film composer Francois De Roubaix recorded compositions for a lot of movies. One of them is the Belgian cult horror classic Daughters of Darkness. The soundtrack to the erotic vampire film consists of a lot of different musical elements and is a seductive score. It's one of Francois' finest pieces of music. The colourful compositions supports the love story and the different ways the vampires interact. Years after its recording Hip-Hop producers used samples from the score in their songs, among others Lil Wayne. The movie has been voted by authors, directors, actors and critics as one of the top horror films of all time. According to the critic Geoffrey O'Brien: 'Daughters of Darkness leans flamboyantly toward the artistic end of the Lesbian vampires spectrum, with Delphine Seyrig sporting Marienbad-like costumes and the Belgian director conjuring up images of luxurious decadence replete with feathers, mirrors, and long, winding hotel corridors. At the film's core, however, is a deeply unpleasant evocation of a war of nerves between Seyrig's vampire and the bourgeois newlyweds into whose honeymoon she insinuates herself. The package contains an exclusive poster + printed innersleeve."
