UK techno heavyweight Mark Broom and Berlin's Discrete Circuit have teamed up before; MBDC is their first fully-fledged collaboration. The EP opens with a superbly engineered kick and counterpoint texture that allows for an otherworldly synth to slowly worm its way out of the abyss. Groovy, tooly, slightly dissonant; blips, claps, punctuation where it works. Just the right shade of reverb and modulation, push and pull in the arrangement, The final track is a remix by Astray's other in-house producer, H4L, a frenetic, broken, IDM-influenced belter with scattered and distorted 808s.
