Beat Records release in the label's DDJ series an unreleased score by maestro Gianni Ferrio, for a summer movie, the ideal choice for the sun-dominated season. An eclectic OST heralded by the main theme "Sciacqua l'acqua", a sparkling theme sung by Johnny Dorelli that, together with divine Laura Antonelli is protagonist of the story. A wonderful album with bossa, jazz, lounge and upbeat tunes featuring also an astonishing cue in The Bee Gees style, everything in a great stereo. Liner notes by Fabio Babini. Mastering by Claudio Fuiano. Graphic layout by Daniele De Gemini. 12-page booklet.

Digitmovies release the complete edition CD of the original soundtrack by Gianni Ferrio for the spaghetti western A Dollar of Fear (original title: Un Dollaro Si Fifa). The Italian-style western, or spaghetti western, officially originated with the famous Dollar trilogy by Sergio Leone, even though it was Gunfight at Red Sands (aka Gringo) by Mario Caian which inaugurated the genre in Italy in 1963. With A Dollar of Fear the series started in 1960, although this film was just a comical parody of the worldwide success of Rio Bravo, directed by Howard Hawks in 1959. The Digitmovies producers used the title Un Dollaro Di Fifa which plays on the Italian title Un Dollaro d'Onore (Rio Bravo in the US). Gianni Ferrio composed a brilliant orchestral soundtrack with epic, action and romantic passages alternating with a pleasant saloon song with a female voice and songs with mixed choirs. For this CD, Digitmovies were able to use the mono master tapes of the original recording session. This CD is definitely a rarity for fans of spaghetti westerns.

Digitmovies, in collaboration with Gruppo Sugar, release on CD the complete edition of Gianni Ferrio's original soundtrack, in full stereo, for the western movie Vivi O Preferibilmente Morti (aka "Alive Or Preferably Dead"). Directed in 1969 by Duccio Tessari, the movie was based on a story and scenario by Ennio Flaiano and it starred Giuliano Gemma, Nino Benvenuti, Sydne Rome, Chris Huerta, Antonio Casas, Georges Rigaud, and Brizio Montinaro. When he dies, the old Archie leaves his two grandchildren Monty Mulligan (Gemma) and Ted Mulligan (Benvenuti) a legacy of 300,000 dollars, which they can receive provided that they will live together for six months. Different by natures and habits, the two do not seem to be able to get together. As both of them are penniless, however, they decide to form a common front to get their hands on the money. At the time, C.A.M. issued a 33rpm album with 18 selections in stereo, then reissued in 1992 for the first time on CD in CAM's soundtrack encyclopedia series with rather questionable sound filtered with Dolby Surround. For Digitmovies' CD, they used the first-generation master tape of the original 33rpm album (without filters or anything else) and, thanks to the stereo master tapes of the original session, they were able to find out about 19 minutes of unreleased material. Gianni Ferrio wrote an OST with American flavor with country songs played by John Ireson and Wayne Parham (also known as The Wilder Brothers), a march for the Salvation Army sung by Lilian Terry, a Christmas-style tune performed by I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni. The author alternates these songs with love themes, foxtrot, Charleston tunes (as a background to the first cars which appeared in the old west), music for epic rides on the prairie, suspense and action music that makes the comment an extremely varied and enjoyable listening experience. Among the extra material there are also performances in Italian of the album versions in English, including the one used for the theatrical trailer where the singer introduces the characters and their actors Giuliano Gemma and Nino Benvenuti. A right and proper rescue and preservation of the Italian western and the music art of Gianni Ferrio.

2016 release. Gianni Ferrio is without a doubt one of the biggest names in film music. He used his immense talent to create music for giallo films, westerns, and erotic comedies and also left an unforgettable mark in Italian television and pop music (for his long-lasting friendship with the singer Mina). For Travolto Dagli Affetti Familiari ("Swept Away By Family Affection"), Gianni Ferrio composed an enjoyable score where the recurring main melody is happy and carefree for the male protagonist and is alternated with romantic orchestral phrases. Digitmovies used all the music recorded in stereo during the recording session. A dance track called "Disco Boogie" (not by Ferrio) was not included. Travolto Dagli Affetti Familiari was directed in 1978 by Mauro Severino. In addition to this soundtrack, Digitmovies release the OST from Il Vizio Di Famiglia from the stereo master tapes of the original recording session. Unfortunately, a country style song is missing, which is played during the scene where Edwige Fenech is on a motorcycle (but it could also be archive material). The composer created spirited and funny background music played by an orchestra and synthesizer, which is alternated with lounge music with sounds of pop music as well as the mysterious moods of giallo films. Il Vizio Di Famiglia was directed in 1975 by Mariano Laurenti.
