Austrian musician and visual artist Fontarrian presents the seventh release on the Austrian disko404 label, following his well-received 2014 debut album vlv (ANTIME 002LP) and a strictly limited split-cassette via Viennese collective Bebop Rodeo. His Meta-Finite EP opens with the weird, blissed-out ambient journey "To Desire the Things That Will Destroy You in the End," followed by "CC's Glory (Knocking Down My Chamber Door)," a narcotic, (s)low-slung spoken-word excursion that builds on the writings of Poe and Reed. Closer "Moon's Space, an Aged Dream" is a dark, atmospheric jam that hints at Detroit melancholia.

Fontarrian's debut effort for Berlin-based label Antime offers a glimpse into a fragile yet eclectic spectrum consisting of loopy vocal bits, slowly unwinding washes of dream-like ambience, distinctively (s)tumbling, almost jazzy percussions, and an ever-present, blissful warmth. The latter emanates from and sucks you into what seems to be a world of its own. Like a lo-fi attempt at capturing momentary twists of the heart through 10 significantly diverse tracks -- imperfect nonetheless -- the album feels like a mixtape you've set out to record for someone special, but somehow never got around to.
