WIR 022EP
|
Wir proudly presents the first release by their Cologne buddy Ziggy Kinder, who has slotted impressive releases on labels such as Ware and Souvenir. "Favela" is the term generally used to refer to a shanty town in Brazil. Ziggy recorded the vocals originally with Aline de Magalhaes during a trip to Brazil. This house tune has been tested successfully on the dancefloor and comes with a great remix by Hamburg's Soukie & Windish.

Ziggy Kinder treats us to another killer, Ware's first double A-sided Assbomb/Longcat. "Assbomb" is an insane funk trip into the deep realms of Ziggy's humor, a track with maximum party factor and plenty of potential for eternity. "Longcat" docks on to the house-y tracks of the Ribbon Twist B-side, with the clever addition of well-dosed hymn genes. Featuring a chic double-front cover with graphics by Tim Stadie.

Ware proudly presents more tracks by Ziggy Kinder. The title track on the Ribbon Twist EP is one of Kinder's best tracks ever -- there just couldn't be any more funk in minimal or attention to detail with maximum functionality at the same time. On "Hello, Android," he argues that house music is from outer space. Or was... or will be. "Boost Express" takes Kinder's strengths, build-up and drama back to the post-minimal here and now. Equally exhilarating for aliens, day and night-timers.

SOUVENIR 010EP
|
Ziggy Kinder returns to Souvenir Music with "Flipflop Crash" -- another typically Ziggy workout destined for a discerning international dancefloor. Disorientating percussion and flanging effects dance around an insistent throbbing bass line while a female vocal whispers in French. Chilean star Pier Bucci takes up the remix reins, stripping the vocals back to a minimum to make way for an epic delay-soaked synth hook. It's a remix destined for the end of a night.

Ziggy Kinder is one of the great individualists in techno. His style is pretty unique, and his latest EP sounds so new and yet so familiar. This time, the motto is Tongue Attack but don't worry, there's no need to run for cover, on the contrary, feel free to participate and stick it out. Ziggy Kinder has released three EPs on Ware so far, as well as his full-length, Akkrobatik. He has also produced remixes for Frankie, Markus Güntner and in cooperation with Mathias Schaffhäuser for And.id.

This is Cologne-based Ziggy Kinder's debut full-length album bursting with sporty, minimalist techno that one can't help but get fit to. Rife with drum kicks, summery melodies summoning cocktail parties and other tingly feelings, Akrobatik is a heady, madcap ride. Kinder has an awfully good pedigree: Nick Luscombe, Richie Hawtin, Gebr. Teichmann, Goldfish & der Dulz, John Tejada, Karotte, Audio Werner, Markus Müller and many more included Ziggy's records in their 2005 charts and playlists or enlisted his work in future prominent compilations. In plain words, Akrobatik is a super individual draft in the field of minimal techno, full of unusual melodies, drama and complexity.

"Mikro Tanz was Ziggy Kinder's EP last autumn, and to our great joy a hell of a lot of people took a liking to this little dance. The motto this time is 'Viel Bass & Wenig Hund', lots of bass and little dog. Coincidentally, that's also the name of the title on side A, which again is as airy and funky, it's funny and it grabs you from behind like, right now at least, only Mr. Kinder knows how to do. And to top it off, this track celebrate s the world premiere of the growling break. 'Cruising' on side B has even more bass but no dog, but for that a pretty crunchy break."
