PFRWAX 007EP

Poker Flat Recordings drops Merge EP from Greek techno/house producer Thanasis Voulgaris. Under his Kindimmer moniker, Voulgaris has been putting out quality dance floor music since 2010, including for Steve Bug's iconic Poker Flat label. The title track sets the tone with killer, propulsive rhythm, adding chopped-up organ. "Swift Changes" is all slinky chords evoking the classic Detroit sound. "It's Coming" is harder, with a booming kick and tricky hats, before opening up into another deep bomb. "Ride With Me" flexes its funk; the groove jacks a little harder and the vibe is definitely ready to make the basements sweat.

PFRWAX 003EP
|
Greece-born Berlin resident Thanasis Voulgaris aka Kindimmer continues to tread the line between raw house and quality techno with the Occhiolism EP. "The Subject" is an atmospheric, loopy house affair with snappy snares and bubbling bass wobbles. "Anxiety Society" is more of a raw and aggressive floor-slayer, primed for peak-time damage with its firing percussion and unrelenting kick, bass, and snare axis. "Your Name of Choice" adds layers of cut-up vocals, synths, and effects to its rhythmic blueprint. "Stanza 103" builds from a sick techno pulse into something altogether more groove-orientated via intricate drum programming and evolving pads that evoke Detroit's legends.

Thanasis Voulgaris aka Kindimmer inaugurates Poker Flat's vinyl-only series. On "Quite Beachy," a rich, heavy kick and crisp percussion underpin a spooky, melodic motif, casting a vibe of eerie suspense and hypnotic intensity. "Fractions of Essence" marries a rubbery kick to sustained pads and snatches of birdsong. Gliding, smooth, and dappled with light and shade, it's the sound of an endless autobahn journey through the heart of a dense forest. "A Complex Network of Flaws," which evokes Theo Parrish at his most meditative, and "3 Thoughts," irresistible on a peak-time floor, both sit on lo-fi rhythms created from an eclectic bricolage.

CLAAP 016EP
|
Claap welcomes new kid on the Berlin block, Kindimmer. "Workz on Dope" is a house groove reminiscent of that MCDE aesthetic, but done in Kindimmer's own unique production attitude. There are added three locked grooves full of elements appealing to the DJs who like to work it while playing. "The Distraction of Fever" has that raw Detroit vibe -- dominant stabs and a serious groove full of beef. There are three locked grooves on this side, too, which are extracts from "The Distraction of Fever." Another Claap record set to turn heads and raise hands on the dancefloor.
