The electronic musician and Poker Flat founder's contemplative new studio album takes in minimal house music, moody techno and effervescent breaks across 11 unique tracks. His previous LP Paradise Sold (PFR 037LP) alongside Langenberg was released in 2018 to critical acclaim. Never Ending Winding Roads is an entirely solo release however, with much of it produced during the months of enforced isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic. Many of the track titles reflect Steve's headspace during this time, with themes of solitude, contemplation and reflection brought to the fore perhaps more than with any of his previous work. Steve's formative musical years were spent during Germany's techno and acid-house heyday, with his love for a perfect groove as apparent now as it was back then. His DJ skills and a keen, innovative ear led him not down the typical path of the early nineties trance and harder dance scene, but instead towards a fresher, hybrid sound --merging stripped deep house, tweaked out acid and more minimal forms of techno and electronic music: a strand of music he fiercely champions to this day. With 11 brand new tracks, Never Ending Winding Roads is a meticulously produced and deeply engaging electronic album; one that explores various shades of house, techno and broken beat with Steve's celebrated attention to detail and consummate originality. Album opener "Lucid Loops" perfectly sets the tone, immediately ensnaring you with a hypnotic, undulating synth line and a faintly menacing undertone thanks to hushed, discordant strings and unnerving vocal stabs. This atmosphere of quiet paranoia permeates many of the tracks on Never Ending Winding Roads, most explicitly in the sinewy groove and sketchy, panic-inducing synth line of "Locked Away In My Head". This album more than perhaps any other in his career sees Steve experimenting with broken-beats, to incredible effect. Tracks like "A Conscious Machine" and "Electro Harmonix" are melodic, emotionally-rich cuts: burst of radiant optimism that juxtapose beautifully with the album's darker moments. Elsewhere tracks like "Yellow Snake" find Steve exploring deep, dubby territory, while album closer "Upon Mountains" is a cosmic, arpeggiated masterpiece: an 8-bit computer game soundtrack reimagined as a poignant electro ballad. A dream-team pairing of Defaultman and Sapurra collaborating on this highly impressive three-tracker for Poker Flat. The two have collaborated frequently before, and with this vinyl-only release, the juices are really flowing. "Paperman" kicks things off -- a slinky mid-tempo groover with an edge. The tight drums keep the rhythm ticking over while dub FX and a thick bassline add the drama and suspense. On the flip comes "Groove Tutorial" -- as fair a name as any when the programming is this good. The beat shuffles and chugs along, always staying fresh and interesting, while a minimal layer of other instrumentation adds depth. "Lessons Cost" rounds off the EP, a full jazzy-house excursion that showcases the producers' wide-ranging talents and ear for rhythmic excellence. Splattered green and yellow vinyl in clear PVC bag.

Pavel Iudin is back on Poker Flat with Framework a new four-track EP. "Framework" is a slinky, crafty burner, built around an irresistible groove. "Echelon'" works around a tightly-woven drum sample before opening up with some beautiful Access Virus synth effects. "Dummy" is an exercise in restrained deepness -- the track has a submerged quality that could work on many dance floors. Last up is "Automotive," another groove-driven cut that uses a minimum of elements without ever feeling minimal. Green and white splattered vinyl.

Eva Be has been a key figure on the development of Berlin underground club culture, going back to the '90s and her involvement with the Sonar Kollektiv crew. "Delight" kicks things off with a low-slung groove with Chicago-esque percussion. Some of Eva's love for dub and reggae is also present. "Breathe" is a little more floor-focused -- a hard-knocking kick starts this off and the track develops into something deep, emotional, and driving. "Pills" is the third offering -- precise-yet-wonky drums, breakbeats, deep pads, and synth lines that gel together into a perfect, hedonistic whole. Purple vinyl.

Poker Flat Recordings drops Merge EP from Greek techno/house producer Thanasis Voulgaris. Under his Kindimmer moniker, Voulgaris has been putting out quality dance floor music since 2010, including for Steve Bug's iconic Poker Flat label. The title track sets the tone with killer, propulsive rhythm, adding chopped-up organ. "Swift Changes" is all slinky chords evoking the classic Detroit sound. "It's Coming" is harder, with a booming kick and tricky hats, before opening up into another deep bomb. "Ride With Me" flexes its funk; the groove jacks a little harder and the vibe is definitely ready to make the basements sweat.

2021 restock. Special vinyl reissue of Trentemøller's groundbreaking debut album. Includes all of the 13 songs on vinyl for the first time. Trentemøller's debut album remains one of the few genre-defining and groundbreaking albums in many regards. It's still being praised for its composition and sound design alike, and sounds as fresh and breathtaking today as it did when it was originally released in 2006. The Last Resort is a beautifully crafted, astonishing masterpiece, that will leave you breathless. The 13 instrumental tracks together form a wordless musical story, almost like the soundtrack of a movie. It manages to capture a whole range of emotions in subtle melodic miniatures, dreamy ambiences, dusty beats, deep dub-tracks, and driving groove-excursions. An ever-changing kaleidoscope of colors and moods. Although it's an electronic album, it also incorporates live-drums, guitars, bass, and other acoustic instruments like celesta, glockenspiel, melodica, and even DJ scratching to create a more organic feel. The album received fantastic acclaim from both music fans and journalists around the world and made it into the top-lists of the month, the year, the decade -- alongside an array of awards for best production or best album. Back in 2006, the original pressing only included a selection of songs from the original 13-track album release. It missed out on songs which had been released on singles or didn't "fit" on the so called "vinyl edition". Due to "public demand", and simply because this album deserves a proper vinyl release, Poker Flat present, for the first time, the full album on vinyl. The recut has been carefully crafted from first generation, original masters by Calyx in Berlin. Since the album has been praised for its fantastic sound the primary directive was to cut the lacquers for the re-issue so that they would sound exactly the same as the original release, which has been the CD version of the album. No "digital remastering" or any other alterations have been applied. Triple-LP edition comes in a gatefold sleeve; Includes download code.

The irresistible pairing of Steve Bug and Langenberg present Paradise Sold, a full vinyl album of exquisitely crafted house music on Bug's own Poker Flat Recordings. The album is a masterclass in house music production and came to life as a true collaborative work. "It feels great to work with Max and I don't know why we didn't get to work together earlier," says Steve Bug. "It feels very natural to be in the studio together and our two worlds match easily. I think I speak for the both of us when I say that by combining forces, we came up with tunes we wouldn't have created on our own." The album is centered around hardware heavy production made with a blend of legendary and aesthetic synthesizers like the Juno 60 and 106, Studio Electronics Omega 8, or the classic Roland TB 303 and mixed by legendary mixing engineer Hannes Bieger, who mixed tracks for producers like Dixon, Ame, Ben Klock, Stephan Bodzin, Ellen Allien, DJ Tennis, and many more. Neither Steve Bug nor Langenberg needs much introduction due to the sizeable contributions both have made in building the European house and techno scene as we know it. Bug's relentless commitment to quality -- both in his own work and in the many producers he has championed -- has made him one of electronic music's most revered artists and curators.

Poker Flat boss Steve Bug teams up with Langenberg (Ribn) for this excellent two-track EP. "Chord Cluster" has summer anthem written all over -- deep yet euphoric, spacy yet danceable, and ultimately a deeply emotive piece of house music. The rhythm track is tight yet remains loose and funky, while the pads and synths dip into just the right amount of acid. "The Teaze" treads similar ground -- arpeggiated pulses lead the arrangement, while a Chicago-influenced groove brings a shuffle to proceedings -- the joy in the track is evident.

Vincenzo returns to Poker Flat, teaming up with the mega-talented Cari Golden for this killer three track EP. Hailing from LA, Cari is part of the band Narcotourist. She lends seductive and cautionary vocals to "Never Go Back", a lush yet edgy deep bomb built around a slinky groove shot through with Vincenzo's trademark tension. Smash TV (Holger Zilske and Kai Preussner) offer a remix which heads to deeper territory, seemingly primed for the after-hours vibe. Instrumental "That's The Way" sees Vincenzo revel in some old school chord progressions and tension/release dynamics to make a sure-fire floor weapon.

Pavel Iudin returns with a gripping four-tracker, serving up some serious burners. "Probe 2" is a throbbing, deep roller with shimmering synths and a shuffling, evolving groove. "Halo" has more classic feel to it, clearly a nod to the Chicago masters of the '90s, but maintaining a tough and fresh feel that is all ludin's own. "Probe 3" is more acidic outing - although never resorting to the iconic 303, the track is a lysergic journey into dubbed out tech-house. "Groundlevel" is a driving, loopy groover that uses ludin's feel for atmosphere and tension to the max.

Having released your first recordings at the tender age of 14 - as Tim Engelhardt did in 2012 - might put you in a "wunderkind" category - a flattering, but ultimately risky proposition, finding many a prodigy overwhelmed with the dubious honor. Not so much this hero, who chose to put his skills to work: in only four years, he grew his portfolio with plenty outings on respected labels, but his breakthrough release was the 2015 EP Everything Is All You Have on Steve Bug's iconic Poker Flat imprint, followed by Enigmatism on the same label (2015). Something definitely clicked, as Poker Flat Recordings present Tim's debut album Moments Of Truth, the first full-length survey of his sonic savvy and a terrific listening experience to boot, which will find its connoisseurs in both the club and at home. "Eyes Closed" features Forrest. Includes a download code which includes four additional tracks.

Mihai Popoviciu offers Fiction, his fourth release on Poker Flat Recordings. "I Should" is a slinky groover, with a slippery, evolving bassline, tight, funky percussion, and a sultry female vocal. "Twisted" is a little harder - a straighter beat signals a more heads down approach, and the bassline is sure to trigger some dancefloor scenes wherever it gets played. "Fiction" has fragments of Eastern European melodies woven into beautiful synth work, all tied together over a spacey, yet driving rhythm track. "Interconnected" is a straight-up deep bomb with echoes of classic Chicago deep and acidic house.

An alias of New York legend Sandy Rivera, Kings Of Tomorrow, helped define the early '90s New York house sound. Happily, Sandy Rivera is still making killer, soulful house music and Kaoz showcases his immeasurable talent for groove. "Kaoz" is a bumping, attitude-full jam rich with thick, punchy drums and a driving synth pulse. The dub does a lot more than strip the track of its main vocal elements - the groove is rebuilt as an edgy, tension-filled underground house banger. Swiss born DJ Dario D'Attis delivers a remix that perhaps draws on some the '90s influence that KOT defined.

With his first release on the Poker Flat Wax series, James Dexter drops three new mission statements from the underground, each unified by a slick production sensibility and irresistible feel for groove. "Voices" is a deep bomb - a shuffling, kinetic rhythm with oceans of space for subtle melodic elements and textures. The deep pads and detuned kick drum of "Point Blank" references Detroit's classic house sound, the raw drums and vocal snippets adding a truly basement vibe. "Area 51" is another atmospheric late-night jam, with a bumping rhythm track and subtle pad washes.

Poker Flat Recordings deliver another killer collaboration, this time with Berlin's youANDme and The Analog Roland Orchestra. The result is Reflection - an EP containing more than its fair share of pure dance-floor moments. Featuring vocalist Black Soda, the title track explores deep vibrations, merging 303 basslines and crisp 909 programming. The "Dub Tool" reworks the vocals into a more spacey arrangement. The Hyenah remix flips the script and develops a deep Afro-house inspired cut. The "Acid" mix gives an opportunity for the guys to get busy working the 303 to its full (un)natural potential.

Poker Flat Recordings presents Night Riots EP, by Mennie and Julien Sandre. "Partitions" twists and teases a sick groove out of fairly simple sources. With "Darth J", Mennie and Sandre get down to some serious beat science, punctuated with subtle chords and vocal stabs. "In A Pixel World" reveals the pair's love of classic Chicago vibes distilled though French touch, bringing in a funky groove filtered through effects and processes, and paying homage to early Daft Punk. "No More" is a ray of house sunshine that skips along on a fidgety beat offset by filtered strings and chopped-up vocal stabs.

Fideles, the moniker of Italian duo Daniele Aprile and Mario Roberti, cook up four courses of lean, focused tech-house with Ran Baran. "Detuned" is an edgy, tense groove exhibiting a masterful sound design and use of space to create a thick, intoxicated atmosphere. "I'm Rude" is more direct - a thumping bass drum introduces a low slung bass groove, slowly mutating into a true party-starter. "Ran Baran" is another lesson in great production - each element perfectly balanced to create an atmosphere of controlled mayhem. "Worthy" uses similar building blocks but delivers a different vibe altogether.

Martin Landsky presents an exquisitely realized three-tracker, Ekko Traxx Vol. 2. "Echo My Head" is the perfect example - driving, focused and funky, yet with a subtle undercurrent that keeps you slightly out of your comfort zone and locked in to the groove. "Weird Night" contains a spooky, discordant synth that raises the tension before giving way to a hard driving rhythm track. "That Organ" has a similar aesthetic, chunky rhythms and bass pulses for the floor, and synth stabs and melodic hooks that keep the track in constant forward motion.

Having already dropped dance-floor bombs on the likes of Hot Creations and Ovum, MANIK's Weights and Measures EP solidifies his emerging reputation as fresh voice on the scene. The release kicks off with "Thirsty Crow" a tightly wound groove that breaks down the barriers between house and techno effortlessly. "Weights & Measures" is a deeply acidic affair that finds space for some luscious pads, while "Complexity" riffs off a classic house vibe but throws in some deeply leftfield sounds and rhythms.

Greece-born Berlin resident Thanasis Voulgaris aka Kindimmer continues to tread the line between raw house and quality techno with the Occhiolism EP. "The Subject" is an atmospheric, loopy house affair with snappy snares and bubbling bass wobbles. "Anxiety Society" is more of a raw and aggressive floor-slayer, primed for peak-time damage with its firing percussion and unrelenting kick, bass, and snare axis. "Your Name of Choice" adds layers of cut-up vocals, synths, and effects to its rhythmic blueprint. "Stanza 103" builds from a sick techno pulse into something altogether more groove-orientated via intricate drum programming and evolving pads that evoke Detroit's legends.

Pavel Iudin (or Paul Yudin, as he's occasionally known in Anglophone circles), a respected resident at St. Petersburg's Stackenschneider club, continues Poker Flat's foray into vinyl-only releases. "Waxology" is a luxurious meditation of precision-engineered deep house, thoughtfully layered with subtle builds and shifts and fine-tuned to send you into head-nodding ecstasy. The circling, bubbling groove of "Tokamak" precedes "Anchor," which contrasts its dubby foundation with echoing chimes, crisp percussion, and shimmering timbres that whizz in and out of earshot. "Charmel" is deeper still -- a heavy dancefloor stomper with a booming kick married to a sinuous bassline.

Hard-touring DJ and Back to Basics resident Denney goes back to the old school, plunging you into the midst of a heaving dancefloor with a wobbling, fluttering acid track. In 2015, a decade on from his 2005 debut release, one of Romania's finest cultural exports returns to his favorite stomping ground with a transmission that showcases variety, technical skill, and an intimate understanding of the dynamics of the floor. The stripped-down, moody menace of "The Swindle" kicks things off with dancing semiquavers panning left and right. A bass synth motif carries the tune to a climax before its buoyant, trancey conclusion. "Rotate" casts a busier, jacking vibe, its analog synth cycles pinging against each other. Glimmering layers of sound create an endlessly immersive, deadly deep groove. "Feed Me" is slower, slinkier, and rougher.

"Ataraxia": "a state of serene calmness." An appropriate title for two tracks that epitomize Simon Garcia's singular vision of the hypnotic potential of house. Following his residency at Madrid's MOTEL club and high praise from an array of luminaries including Laurent Garnier, Garcia's "Ataraxia" opens with a pounding kick and busy hats before a slow crescendo of drones and pulsing synths. "A Hot Drink in the Desert" casts a tropical feel with its bustling beat and dancing xylophone. This is soon disrupted by high-frequency Hitchcockian drones, ominous piano strokes, and undulating bass tones, taking the tune into haunting soundtrack territory.
