KANN 054LP
|
Respected Leipzig based multi-instrumentalist Panthera Krause arrives on KANN with new age appeal! Delving into a more mysterious sound than the label is commonly known, the artist draws from the dark side of the pool, taking in Baltic choir inspirations, '80s cinema themes (Tarantino's favorite) and lyrical GDR rock for good measure. Produced in secrecy during 2023, Krause gets in touch with his inner Stereolab by creating an enchanting new full length entirely on headphones. Drip fed to those close to him, he was convinced to share these audiobooks to a wider audience, now resulting in Aside The Aeons. Adding almost only sounds from Korg M3R, Roland Aeorophon, and a JX 03 synthesizer to the action, the record explores a unique musical universe and head trip for the astral plane.

STEP 015EP

Spell Pets backwards to get Step. Step Recordings is the new vinyl-only label from the founders of Pets Recordings -- Catz 'N Dogz -- with a focus on the rawest forms and root functions of dance music. Step Recordings searches for the fundamentals with under-the-radar house and techno that's not afraid to be rough around the edges. It's all about the music. Includes a remix by Simon Haydo.

RVN 007EP

Kraus Panthera delivers a mini-album for the Riotvan label. The opener "Through My Mind" expands to turn into a dense synth cloud which casts anchor on the dancefloor. Then, "Isla" soars into the climax, drifting off into the eternity of space while the track unpacks the flute of longing. "If" approaches you as a percussively-padded jazz monster. Rumor has it that joint sessions with Panthera's niece and drummer Paul Tetzlaff have had an influence on that one. Finally, "Dubcek" is full of skillful disco coolness, including a cheekily groovy bass line and a drama boost made of a sample turned into a note.

Panthera Krause releases his solo debut Yorikke on Riotvan. It comes as a 12" vinyl in a limited edition of 300 copies. These three tracks clearly show that he's able to dash the groove to the ground and collar it with disco and house pearls. It's not just that, the EP contains a vinyl-exclusive piano version of "Summer Breeze" and a chilly remix by Llewellyn aka Lake People as well as a cover made by Panthera Krause himself.
