2024 restock. Guerssen Records present a reissue of Màquina!'s Why?, originally released in 1970. Along with Smash, Cerebrum, or Pan & Regaliz, Catalan band Màquina! were one the truly pioneers when talking about the underground Spanish psych-prog scene from the late '60s. Why? was their debut album, originally released in 1970 on the Diábolo label and housed in a striking surreal sleeve designed by band member Jordi Batiste. English vocals, wicked acid fuzz-wah guitars, Hammond organ, flute -- including the legendary self-titled track, 24 minutes (split in two parts) of wild psychedelic improvisation. Featuring Josep Maria "Tapi" Vilaseca (later of Tapiman) on drums, Josep Maria París on fuzz guitar, Luigi Cabanach on wah guitar, Enric Herrera on organ, and Jordi Batiste on bass/flute/vocals. Highly sought-after by psych collectors worldwide, this is a long overdue vinyl reissue of this cult album featuring. Newly remastered sound. Original artwork and eight-page color insert with detailed liner notes by Àlex Gómez-Font and cool photos; heavy cardboard sleeve + OBI.

2004 release. "What a surprise! One of our best & most recent finds is a lot of stereo reel-to-reel tapes recorded by Maquina!. Featuring some unreleased songs & versions: 'Thought Of You,' 'Blues En Fa' (studio version) are some of the rediscovered tracks that are included on this album alongside their classic singles ('Let's Get Smashed,' 'Earth's Daughter,' 'Sun Bring The Summer,' 'I Believe' and so on) and rarities such as 'Fragment Del Primer Temps De La Simfonia Nº1 D'Enric Herrera.' A unique collection which covers the band's different eras and line-ups. Also includes a 14-page insert with photos & other graphic material provided by the band members. Double album in a limited issue of 500 numbered copies."

"The second album release by the Catalan band, Màquina!, which was to be their musical goodbye as a band, is undoubtedly the highest peak reached by a Spanish band at its time. They were offering a live recording with a superb sound, and it was presented as a double album. Original singer Jordi Batiste joined the group for the occasion to leave a recorded testimonial of how the boys sounded in their latter days. Crude unadulterated jazz rock performances under the influence of black music, jazz and funk, and bands such as Chicago, Spirit or Blood Sweat & Tears, starring a tight base of drums-bass-guitar-Hammond and with the addition of a funky brass section. The band canned some great performances of earlier stuff like 'Look Away Our Happiness' or 'Chains' plus great covers and new original material. This double album stays as a vinyl witness of what was the greatest progressive rock outfit in Spain. The Wah Wah edition includes the two tracks of the rare Funciona 12", 'I Can't Quit You Baby' and 'Improvisando con Geno,' two recordings from the same sessions that surfaced in the early '80s when Apollo Records reissued both Màquina! LPs. Comes in original gatefold art and reproduces the original 8 page booklet." Strictly limited to 500 copies.
