SA 005EP
|
2010 release. Frank Martiniq explores a whole new sonic identity on this unique 12". "Blast Corps" features a surge of delayed bass line. Crispy static rises from below and echoes swoop and simmer. The 4/4 structure is infused with far-off blips and the dusty sizzles of low-pitched white noise. On "Dark Star," warm dub keeps the sound organic while the other elements pull together around its weight before culminating with the closer, "Lovelane."

CURLE 040EP
|
Frank Martiniq is someone Curle has been keeping an eye on since his Adriano record in 2002. He made his Curle debut with "Golden Dusk," which got remixed by Scott Grooves later on. The three tracks on the Insomniac EP could be classified as deep techno, but with enough power, groove and melody to set afire a dancefloor.

METISSE 004.5EP

In 2010, Curle Recordings released the original "Golden Dusk" track on 300 limited golden vinyls. In their humble opinion, it's still one of the best tracks ever released on the label -- a very rare combination of deep techno and dancefloor hysteria. Scott Grooves liked it a lot too, and now there are no less than two different "Panther Versions" by Scott Grooves & Kataconda. First pressing on marbled colored vinyl 10" in a hard plastic bag.

"He is back! Our most favorite Frank Martiniq! The man who made his long, rocky way from the old Warp school to the cultivated 4/4 bass drum. From Cologne via Detroit, to Beijing and back again to good old Cologne, carrying a heavy vinyl bag on his shoulders. But after this round-the-world trip, it was high time for him to start turning the little buttons at his studio in Cologne-Ehrenfeld again in order to present us and the rest of the world with two new, subtle and kicking tracks. Because his music is his fate, his life and his destiny, this man is music! In every single note, in every single beat, in every single heartbeat."

"A loping, feel happy vibe of life is good is in the air. Everybody is getting ready for the long, long autumn and winter nights and like Amor's arrow in former times, Sugarpopp tenderly is touching our souls. Sugarpopp is a little treasure made of collected memories. Frank Martiniq's private preserving jar if you like, with a collection of his personal emotions, feelings and experiences he made this summer: an exhilarating DJ set, a trip to faraway countries, the feeling of love or a great party rush, a great record or a half-filled nightclub... The result are two stunning tracks that can be regarded as vehicles for the transport of personal thoughts, feelings and perceptions with a strong focus on Frank's reawakened love for Detroit sounds. Frank Martiniq takes us on a trip into his most private world of sounds and emotions so far...and suddenly, it's summer again!"

"It's really amazing that this guy, next to his innumerable DJ gigs and live acts, still finds the peace and enough time to produce such stunning tracks. Thank you, Frank Martiniq, great job. This time, Frank comes up with two minimal-techhouse long-range bombs. Two sweaty tracks of purest understatement. 'Extrashark' is the legendary wolf dressed in sheepskin. It's Boxer's kind of Mike Tyson of the straight bass drum and again Frank Martiniq proves that he has neither lost his bite nor that his straight bass drum is always straight. Rumbling very angrily and smashing everything, this bass monster is closing in on us. 'Dumb de Luxe' however, rather hits the sweating techno-funker straight into the disco heart. Frank's characteristic, hypnotizing and uncompromisingly slick rocker offers everything you need for a typical mayday atmosphere."

"The master of minimal Shuffle-Michael-Jackson-Disco-Boogie-Jazz-Noise-Techno is back and right in time for the new bathing season at the house of Boxer. After Martiniq's various trips to BoxerSport, Sender and Areal, he is back at Boxer and comes up with 11 new tracks. Yes, it's him, Frank Martiniq and his new, compact treasure of music lives up to any expectations of his fans in the CD player world; not to mention that he is already among the most favourites on both sides of the global record players thanks to his three 'Late Night Toolz' 12" series. And his moving from Neumuenster (up in the North of Germany) to Cologne -- the metropolis as far as electronic music is concerned -- was definitely the right decision. Here, Frank Martiniq, inspired by the vibrating night clubbing scene and the revitalised fun to party, more and more commits to the 4/4 beat with its inherent dance-guarantee. He is famous for his precision in elaborating his songs to the smallest score and shifting them into transparently shimmering micro fibre layers. The songs thus created are always amazing, always new and throughout funky. His music is both, great for the dance-floor and good for the mood. But one thing is for sure: Pop music will save the world, and this should be reason enough for us to love this record. And you will certainly love it, too the more you'll listen to it."

Remixes by Misc and Robag Wruhme. "A great artist who has been -- and hopefully will stay -- loyal to Boxer since its first catalogue number. 'Boost', already a hot hit on the 'Late Night Toolz Series', has been re-mixed and re-shaped and comes up in a really knacking and kicking remix double pack; simply perfect for the best time of the night. Misc turn on their stylish equipment and have the full demolition charge run through the original version. The result can be defined either as wide-legged nuance rock or detail-loving wide-screen techno. Robag Wruhme, who has already made a helluvalot of fab remixes, just let things slide...experienced but nevertheless minimal and functional, Rogab W. presents us a really stunning hit."

"Frank Martiniq is constantly on the go, and releases now the Wizkaz EP on Sender. He likes it dirty and dark but never loses this certain nonchalance which distinguishes his style. With his waggish way he produces tracks which are extremely diverse and effervesce with imagination. Here a few erratic sounds, there a distorted vocoder voice and deeply pulsing knarz bass. But everything is still easy, effortless and funky. You can never Get enough of it! The 'Side Blow' puts us crackling on the right track. From there the 'Roadrunner' shuffles and veers, a killer break and knarz bass line lead us the way. 'Boita Musiq' forces us to constantly jiggle our ass. Off we go! In the last round we are invited to sway and are already in the middle of Frank Martiniq's Wizkaz-land."

"'Use Fuse' is the warm up which takes us on a long trip into minimal techhouse: 7 minutes and 35 seconds of endless, delicate, crispy strings accompanied by a steadily rolling, comfy bass. 'Baffle', baby comes along in the beloved stirring-weirdo micro boogie style, a hot and sweaty piece of understatement, the secret wolf in sheep's clothing. And at the end of the play time, Martiniq shows us again how good he is and presents us a track of genuine cologne shuffle folklore in western boots: 'Dope Dot' will take even the last head nodder off his bar stool and straight on to the dance floor, right in the middle of the speakers and with his air banjo guitar in his hands. So here come your new and third master tools made of chrome-vanadium-steel by Frank Martinq."

"Welcome back to the global amusement park of Boxer Recordings, and again it's Frank Martiniq who takes us on a fantastic ride through haunted splitter house. His third album Neowoogie is a masterpiece of weirdo shuffle funk and -- according to Tobias Thomas/Spex magazine -- 'one of the most striking minimal techno-shuffle-boogie-Michael Jackson-disco-jazz-noise-records around....'. Respect! Neowoogie is another great milestone in Martiniq's success story, after the first two albums pmf8 and Schwingkomplex, not to mention his dancefloor-killer-tracks 'Adriano' and 'Gigoletta'. Even higher scores for Martiniq's terrific precision when chopping up his songs into single notes which he later engraves, displaces, and processes in transparent, glimmering microfibre layers. The result is a most amazing complex groove structure."

Debut release by Frank Martiniq from Germany. Although I believe Frank has some Acid Orange label afflictions, he must have mellowed out a bit, because this out-of-nowhere album is a slow-motion finger-snap view into the chilled-out-thrilled-world of the Karaoke Kalk generation. Starting out slow & bundled with harmonic warmth, this moves forward into the process of extracting the cuddle out of early Funkstörung & BOC, an album focusing on pleasure.
